Later, she gave up because she didn’t want to trouble the teacher. Since childhood, Rosalind had always been afraid of causing trouble for others. The teachers at school had already taken good care of her, and she felt she had no right to be picky.
“Does that include you?” Cedric asked, turning his gaze to her face.
Rosalind shook her head repeatedly. “Not me. In middle school, besides attending classes, I had to work at a breakfast shop in the morning and take night shifts at an internet cafe after evening study sessions. My schedule was even tighter than it is now!”
Thinking back, it was probably because of this that the homeroom teacher felt comfortable seating her next to Ulric as desk mates.
Otherwise, any other girl would probably be too infatuated to focus on studying.
“What? You were in middle school… How old were you?” Cedric exclaimed.
“No matter how old you are, you still need to eat,” Rosalind shrugged. She was only grateful that she had persevered through those hardships rather than being trapped in the shadows of her childhood.
After all, dwelling on such things wouldn’t bring any positive energy, it would only make things worse.
Cedric looked at her and couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for this girl.
“Keep working hard. I’m sure you’ll make a name for yourself in investment banking.”
“Mm!” She felt the same way.

The plane landed at Fragrant Harbor Airport, where someone was already waiting to pick them up and take them directly to the hotel.
Cedric didn’t even have time to rest before diving into work.
Rosalind put down her luggage and, with no work assignments, tidied up a bit before standing by the floor-to-ceiling window to take in the view below.
It was truly beautiful!
Everywhere she looked were skyscrapers she could never afford.
She checked her phone and saw a message from Tilda.
“Rosalind darling, I always feel like there’s something off when you talk about that man. I must remind you again, don’t fall for a man like that. You’ll only end up getting hurt!”
Fall for him?
Rosalind sighed and replied, “Don’t worry. There’s a world of difference between us. There won’t be any story, I’m very clear about that.”
After sending the message, she poured herself a glass of water. When she came back, Tilda’s reply nearly made her drop her phone.
“Don’t tell me this person is Mr. Walters.”
“…”
Rosalind realized she was really bad at lying and hiding things.
Afraid of giving herself away, she decided not to reply.
As evening approached, Cedric knocked on her door and handed her a car key. “You should drive to the airport now. There’s still time, just take it slow.”
“Now?!”
Wasn’t it supposed to be Tuesday?
“We ran into some issues with work here, so Mr. Walters moved up his schedule by a day! Don’t waste any more time, get going. You’ll be delayed on the road.”
With that, Cedric hurried off, not giving Rosalind any chance to negotiate.
She had no choice but to accept the task reluctantly.
On the way, Rosalind reassured herself that Ulric probably wouldn’t come to Fragrant Harbor alone.
His assistant always accompanied him on business trips, and if not, there was still Sirena. She had gone with Ulric to Sinoington and would likely return with him!
In front of his beloved, how could she possibly have any interaction with Ulric?
With these thoughts clear in her mind, Rosalind parked the car and walked into the arrival hall. Among the crowd, she easily spotted Ulric.
He was as conspicuous as ever, tall and slender. Just standing there, he commanded attention.
He wore a dark suit, with his shirt and tie meticulously ironed. Even his casual gesture of rolling up his sleeves exuded an innate elegance and composure.
As she watched him, Rosalind instinctively placed her hand over her left chest.
Because her heartbeat suddenly became irregular.
