“How did you come across this?!” Rosalind exclaimed, her face flushing with embarrassment.
Tilda, who was standing behind her, couldn’t believe her eyes. In her mind, her best friend had never been in a relationship, let alone had any men in her life. Witnessing this unexpected item in Rosalind’s hands was quite a shock.
“I… it’s leftover from before,” Rosalind stammered, feeling uneasy about being caught with such a private item.
Tilda blinked, struggling to process this information. “But you don’t even have a boyfriend. Who did you use it with?”
“With someone who needed it as much as I did,” Rosalind responded, offering a vague answer knowing that Tilda wouldn’t be easily fooled.
As soon as Tilda heard this, she playfully slapped Rosalind on the shoulder, her curiosity piqued. “Wow, you’ve found a man without telling me! Come on, spill the details. How is this guy? Is he good-looking?”
Rosalind’s face grew even hotter, and she hid the “culprit” back in her bag. “Let’s not talk about this.”
“What are you afraid of? We’ve all been there,” Tilda teased, her curiosity getting the best of her. “To thaw your frozen heart and make you willing to give yourself, this guy must be quite handsome! Do you have a photo of him? Is he from our company? Have I seen him?”
“He is indeed handsome. There are photos of him, and he’s somewhat connected to the company. You’ve seen him before,” Rosalind admitted, hinting at the truth while still remaining cautious.
Most of this situation had been orchestrated by Tilda, after all.
But Rosalind didn’t dare to answer any further questions and opted for a vague response. “I was drunk that day, so I don’t remember much.”
“What? Just a one-night stand? No contact afterward?” Tilda’s excitement was apparent as she delved into the topic.
“He has someone he likes,” Rosalind interjected, shutting down any further inquiries.
Tilda nearly choked on her own saliva. “Then why did he still…”
“I told you, he was drunk,” Rosalind interjected, attributing their initial encounter to Ulric’s inebriated state.
As for what happened afterward, it was probably because he realized she resembled Sirena and proposed their marriage agreement.
“In that case, this guy lacks integrity. He fools around even when he has feelings for someone else! You should forget about him soon. Let me tell you, don’t be afraid of a scumbag, be afraid of someone who holds on to their ‘first love’ in their heart!”
Tilda’s words poured out, driven by her curiosity and advice. She reached into Rosalind’s bag, casually discarding the condom as if she were tossing away the man himself.
Rosalind raised an eyebrow, perplexed. “Why? Isn’t a scumbag worse?”
“A scumbag may eventually settle down and even become more affectionate and devoted because they’ve experienced it all. But a person who clings to their ‘first love’ will never give you their whole heart. No matter how outstanding you are or how deeply you love them, you can’t compete with that first love,” Tilda explained passionately.
“Oh.”
“You wouldn’t want to be someone’s substitute, would you?” Tilda asked bluntly.
Rosalind shook her head. “No.”
“That’s right! Let me tell you, matters of the heart are delicate. The more you care about someone, the less they seem to care about you. Since you two are merely using each other, and based on what you’ve said, it seems you’re content with that aspect of your relationship, then go ahead! Consider it a free ride,” Tilda advised with a mischievous grin.
Rosalind remained silent, realizing that it was Tilda’s influence that had given her the courage to sleep with Ulric that day.
