“…”
Did he speak to her
Upon seeing the unanimous “received” replies below, Rosalind swiftly typed and sent her own “received” response.
The meeting persisted until one o’clock in the morning, but as the president was the host, none of the participants dared to stifle a yawn.
Finally, Ulric’s secretary provided a summary and announced, “Today’s meeting concludes here.”
Rosalind breathed a sigh of relief and was ready to switch off her camera and stretch when Ulric appended, “The individual in charge of the new automotive technology project mentioned during the meeting, please come see me privately.”
“Are you referring to Malcolm’s project?” Cedric inquired directly.
“Yes.”
“Alright! Rosalind from the Investment Banking Department, you coordinate with Mr. Walters privately.”
Rosalind hadn’t anticipated this surprise. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, she promptly nodded, “Okay.”
Once she exited the meeting room, she stared at Ulric’s personal profile for several seconds but lacked the courage to click the “connect” button.
Yes, she felt a tinge of fear and embarrassment.
Earlier, it was a group meeting, and she played an insignificant role, allowing her to blend in. But now… she had to speak with him alone!
Rosalind secretly wished her computer would malfunction at that very moment.
These conflicting emotions tormented her relentlessly.
She stood up and sat back down repeatedly. After repeating this motion three times, Rosalind took a deep breath and sent the connection request.
It took nearly a minute for Ulric to accept the request.
However, he didn’t activate his camera, only his voice resonated through the speakers.
“I just reviewed Malcolm’s project. The due diligence is insufficient, the production data is too ambiguous, and it’s still in the experimental phase. Initiating financing at this stage entails considerable risk.”
Rosalind cleared her throat and swiftly shifted into work mode. “There is indeed a degree of risk. I noted that in the report. However, the majority of the patents involved have received state recognition, indirectly indicating their feasibility. After conducting an investment analysis, I believe that once it receives approval for mass production, the return on investment will be substantial.”
“But it’s still in the conceptual stage. If actual manufacturing fails, all invested funds will be lost.”
“That won’t happen! Mr. Hines assured me that they have already produced a physical vehicle, not just the concept car shown in the video. He is highly confident about this model, you can see he is well-prepared.”
“Rosalind.”
Ulric suddenly addressed her by her full name. “This is business.”
“…”
“The company’s objective is to minimize risks objectively, not rely on an investor’s confidence.”
Rosalind lowered her head, rendered speechless.
Indeed, she unconsciously tended to evaluate a project’s risk based on her perception of an individual.
“And what is your personal relationship?”
Ulric’s voice was low and gravelly, as if interrogating her.
She hastily glanced up and explained, “We’re just friends! Regarding the hospital incident-”
“This project will be handed over to Cedric. Projects introduced by someone in your situation cannot be pursued personally due to the presence of a potential conflict of interest,” Ulric interjected formally, disregarding her explanation. “Irrespective of your relationship, based on what you just said, I believe you are no longer capable of objectively assessing the feasibility of this project.”
“Oh, I see. I understand.”
So he was merely being professional and didn’t require an explanation from her.
