Cedric delivered an extensive report on Genesis Enterprises’ due diligence, encompassing finance, future development, and shareholder changes. He also provided an analysis of the current prospects for technological advancement.
Abruptly, Rosalind caught her name being mentioned.
“Rosalind Ruell from the Investment Banking Department recently proposed a technology project on innovative car models to Prosperity Holdings Company. They have already submitted it for review by the head office. I took a look, and if the information is accurate, it aligns well with our current development needs.”
The speaker was the influential Investment Director of W Group.
Ulric, positioned behind the camera, nodded subtly without lifting his eyelids. “Cedric, focus on that.”
“I’ve checked, the research was carried out by several university professors, led by an individual named Malcolm Hines. He holds numerous patents and is undoubtedly a talented individual.”
Rosalind couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but when Cedric mentioned Malcolm, she sensed a slight tensing of Ulric’s body.
However, he swiftly regained his composure.
The meeting pressed on. As Rosalind lacked speaking privileges in such a crucial gathering, she kept her head down and silently took notes.
By nearly ten o’clock in the evening, there was no sign of the meeting concluding, yet her stomach had started to act up…
She regretted not eating something earlier!
With the camera turned on, she couldn’t simply begin eating in front of everyone.
Rosalind clenched her fists, attempting to endure the discomfort, but it only worsened. A thin layer of sweat formed on her forehead.
Meanwhile, Tilda, who had gone out to eat, hadn’t returned yet. She was likely on another one of her dates with some attractive individual. There was no one else at home to assist Rosalind in obtaining her stomach medication.
Gradually, her perspiration increased. The cramping pain in her stomach nearly dulled her hearing.
Suddenly, Ulric’s voice broke the silence.
“The meeting will be paused for thirty minutes.”
Rosalind felt a sense of relief upon hearing those words. She hastily rose to find her stomach medication without even switching off the camera.
Coincidentally, Tilda returned at that moment, accompanied by Malcolm.
Observing Rosalind clutching her stomach medication and water, he approached with a package of pastries he had brought along. “You haven’t eaten, and now your stomach is hurting? Taking medicine on an empty stomach will only exacerbate it. Eat something first, then take the medicine. I’ll fetch you some warm water.”
Tilda promptly added, “My brother is so considerate. Rosa, go back to your room first. He’ll bring it to you shortly.”
Due to the intense stomach pain, Rosalind didn’t hesitate and obediently retreated to her room.
On the meeting interface, no one was visible anymore. Ulric’s camera had turned black.
She managed to consume a few bites of the pastries. Shortly after, Malcolm knocked on the door with warm water. “Rosa, may I come in?”
“Yes,” Rosalind looked up and gratefully accepted the warm water from his hands. “Thank you for buying me food.”
“Don’t mention it. I thought that even when working overtime, you still need to eat! If it weren’t for Tilda insisting on buying some clothes, we could have returned earlier. Tomorrow, I’ll make sure she keeps some snacks at home so you won’t have to worry about working late.”
Malcolm’s voice was consistently gentle and soothing, as if he were incapable of anger.
Rosalind drank the warm water, ate some food, and took her medication. The stomach pain gradually subsided.
Half an hour later, the meeting resumed.
Ulric’s face reappeared on his camera.
He wore a deep frown, seemingly displeased.
“In future evening meetings, ensure you’ve had dinner before attending.”
