Upon arriving at Tilda’s house, Rosalind didn’t even have a moment to quench her thirst before diving straight into organizing the materials for the upcoming meeting.
Genesis Company had assigned her the task that very day, and since it was a significant move by the headquarters, she was still in the preliminary phase of understanding the project. Paying full attention during the meeting was crucial.
After meticulously preparing everything she could think of, Rosalind settled into her chair, powered up her computer, and accessed the company’s meeting interface. The screen displayed:
[20:00 First Channel Technology Development Project Meeting Main Attendee: Ulric Walters]
Those words on the screen sent a wave of nervousness coursing through Rosalind. Would she be able to see the extent of his injuries? Would his face be disfigured…?
She stole a glance at the bottom right corner of her computer screen. There was nearly an hour left before the meeting began!
Ordinarily, she would have grabbed something to eat since it was uncertain how long the meeting would last. But…
Rosalind couldn’t tear her eyes away from the computer screen.
She simply wanted to count down the minutes until the meeting commenced.
When was the last time time seemed to drag on so slowly? It felt reminiscent of that dinner when Mr. Chan took her to meet Ulric, where every second was akin to sitting on pins and needles.
Rosalind watched as the clock ticked away, growing increasingly restless as the time drew near.
Finally, ten minutes before eight, she noticed that the first channel had opened, and the software prompted relevant personnel to enter.
Instinctually, Rosalind moved to click in but hesitated for a moment, deciding to wait a few more minutes.
What if it turned out to be just her and Ulric in the meeting room? Wouldn’t that be awkward?
However, as it turned out, she was overthinking.
Upon entering the meeting room, she realized that Cedric had already arrived, but Ulric’s camera remained off.
Rosalind received a private message from Cedric.
[My internet signal isn’t very good today. Please record the meeting and send me a copy tomorrow.]
She replied with an OK emoji and switched back to the main screen, only to witness Ulric’s handsome face materialize!
He appeared… thinner.
Even with his eyes focused on the documents, one could discern a hint of fatigue in his gaze.
His exquisite and attractive countenance remained deep and captivating. The gauze-covered wound on his forehead stood out, likely a remnant of the car accident.
This was the first time she had laid eyes on him since the incident. Ulric had evidently reverted to his typical cold, stern, and distant demeanor, devoid of any trace of tenderness in his eyes.
Instinctively, Rosalind placed her hand over her heart, sensing a faint ache.
It felt hollow, as if something were missing.
“The materials for today’s exchange meeting have been uploaded by my assistant. Please take a look,” Ulric announced.
Immediately, all the participants delved into reviewing the materials.
Rosalind lagged behind slightly as she opened the documents. They contained the latest progress on technological exchanges, occasionally accompanied by pictures.
With her keen eyes, she swiftly spotted Ulric in one of the photos.
Clad in a black suit, he held a wine glass while engaging in conversation with foreign partners, his face adorned with his customary polite smile.
Beside him, Sirena also attended the exchange meeting. Perhaps due to her recent surgery, she sat in a chair, but her custom-made red dress still commanded attention.
It seemed to complement Ulric’s attire perfectly.
