“It’s her fault! That’s the reason Ulric ended up in this situation!”
If Johnny hadn’t restrained her, Sirena would have impulsively confronted her, completely disregarding her usual ladylike demeanor.
“Ulric is inside, fighting for his life. We can deal with this later!”
Johnny noticed the curious gazes from onlookers and finally managed to pull Sirena away with great effort.
When he returned, he found Rosalind still standing there, her face displaying signs of bruising.
This only fueled his anger further!
“Why are you still here?!”
Johnny never particularly liked Ulric’s assistant. He believed his friend was simply infatuated and that it would fade with time. Now, with this incident, he didn’t even want to look at her.
“Did Ulric get into the accident because of me?”
Rosalind had picked up some hints from their conversation but didn’t know the whole story.
Wasn’t Ulric supposed to be with Sirena? How did the car accident involve her?
“Heh, today is August 25th, you know?”
“…”
So what if she knew?
Johnny sneered, “Don’t pretend to be clueless! Reflect upon your actions! You’ve already married Ulric, yet you went to seduce another man! Rosalind, you truly are something! The chances of Ulric being betrayed by a woman were slim, but you managed it!”
Seducing another man?
“Ulric knows I took Mr. Hines to the hospital.” It wasn’t a question.
“Secrets can’t be kept forever.”
“I can explain!” She never anticipated that it would lead to Ulric’s car accident!
If Johnny hadn’t pointed it out, she wouldn’t have made the connection.
“You should leave now, immediately! Otherwise, I might lose control and break my rule of not hitting women.”
With those words, Johnny walked away.
Rosalind was left standing alone in the bustling corridor. For a long time, she gently touched her swollen cheek but never took her eyes off the red light above the emergency room.
An hour passed, then two…
Rosalind waited from dusk till dawn but saw no sign of Ulric coming out or any news about him.
Until Cedric called, “Why didn’t you attend the morning meeting?”
As she opened her mouth, she realized her voice was so hoarse she could barely speak!
“Can I take the day off today?”
“Is it something important?” Cedric paused, perhaps noticing her hoarseness. “Alright, but come in early tomorrow.”
Just as he was about to hang up, Rosalind suddenly asked, “Wait! Cedric, did Mr. Walters… come to work today?”
“Mr. Walters? It seems he was in a car accident and didn’t come in today. However, I just received a notification that he’s still going on his business trip tonight as planned, so it shouldn’t be anything serious.”
“Did he inform you personally?”
“Yes, why?”
Rosalind smiled bitterly, “Oh, it’s nothing. Thank you.”
It appeared that Ulric had already left the hospital, and she was the only one foolishly waiting here!
All through the night.
She had been contemplating how to explain the situation with Malcolm to Ulric. Now it seemed unnecessary, he didn’t require any explanation.
