Chapter 80: It’s a Sin to Have Feelings

Rosalind’s mind churned with turmoil, like murky water, hindering clear thinking.
She stumbled out of the hospital, her legs swollen and throbbing from standing all night, weighing her down like lead.
Unable to take another step, Rosalind spotted an open breakfast shop nearby. She entered, ordered something at random, and sat down to rest.
The shop owner approached with fried eggs and milk, and her face filled with alarm when she saw Rosalind’s injured face.
“Oh my goodness, young lady, what happened to your face? It’s bleeding! Quickly, let me clean it for you!”
Saying this, she hurried to fetch some medicine and iodine for Rosalind.
Upon hearing this, Rosalind used her phone’s front camera to inspect the wound on her cheek.
Indeed, she appeared disheveled.
Sirena’s nails had scratched the skin near her eye, and perhaps due to her earlier frowning, the wound had reopened and was bleeding again.
She pondered, her left cheek seemed to be having a streak of misfortune lately, being struck twice in a row.
“Ouch, doesn’t it hurt? And yet you’re still smiling!”
The shop owner, kind-hearted, continued to apply iodine to disinfect the wound.
It should have caused a lot of pain, yet Rosalind inexplicably smiled! The shop owner even wondered if something was amiss with this pretty girl’s mind.
“Thank you, I can handle it myself.” Rosalind took the medicine from her hand and glanced at the table where the fried eggs and milk had just been placed.
Ulric always enjoyed having these two items for breakfast.
Unconsciously, she had ordered the same meal.
It seemed habits were indeed formidable.
She didn’t eat or continue applying the medicine. After sitting quietly for a while, she left money for the breakfast and iodine on the table and departed.
Rosalind hailed a taxi to Easthaven Bay.
After all, all her clothes and belongings were there. Even if she was terminating her contract with Ulric, she still needed to pack up.
Entering the passcode, she pushed open the door, and the first thing she noticed was rose petals scattered across the floor!
Following their trail, she found a number formed by countless fresh red strawberries in the living room!
[0825]
Ulric was truly romantic…
This must be the reason he told her not to return to Easthaven Bay before ten o’clock-he wanted to surprise Sirena here!
Considering Ulric’s obsession with cleanliness and his aversion to others entering his house, these must have been meticulously arranged by him. Rosalind felt like an ugly duckling.
Standing in the way of the prince and princess’s love, she felt like a cruel joke!
In fairy tales, the ugly duckling eventually transforms into a swan. But what about her? From childhood to adulthood, almost every step she took was dictated by life, forcing her to make countless choices she never desired.
For the sake of money, she had to forgo a better university.
For the sake of money, she had to endure countless exhausting jobs.
For the sake of money, she had to sign this absurd contract with Ulric.
And look at Sirena-she could casually take on a case and earn amounts that Rosalind couldn’t even dream of!
Rosalind had to sternly remind herself to always remember her place-no fantasies, no wishful thinking, no thoughts that didn’t belong to her.
Suddenly, she squatted down, hugging herself tightly, and softly sobbed.
It became evident that people truly inhabit different social classes.
And they were all at heights she could never reach!
It became evident that harboring feelings for Ulric was a sin.
The spacious living room now seemed unbearably cold. Helplessness and a sense of loss overwhelmed her heart from all directions. But this time, there was no Ulric to lift her up and say, “Don’t be afraid, it’s me.”
