When Ulric emerged from the bedroom, he had changed into a casual white outfit. His serious demeanor had significantly softened, making him appear youthful, like a college student ready to play basketball.
Rosalind was still contemplating how to prevent him from following her. Going out with Ulric would attract too much attention, after all! What if someone captured a photo?
“Let’s go.”
“Mr. Walters, do you think there might be any media or colleagues from our company around here? It wouldn’t be ideal if they spotted us,” she subtly reminded him.
To her surprise, Ulric seemed entirely unconcerned. “What’s the harm in that?”
“…”
Since he expressed no concern, Rosalind could only go along with it.
At the high-end supermarket, which was relatively empty with excellent security, everyone was focused on their own shopping and paid little attention to their surroundings.
Nevertheless, Rosalind purposely kept a distance from Ulric and headed to the steak section, urging the shopkeeper to weigh the meat quickly.
Finally, with the steak in hand, she turned around to inform Ulric that they could leave, only to see someone standing next to him.
Sirena.
This was the second time Rosalind had encountered her.
Even outside of working hours, Sirena looked elegant in a Chanel cardigan paired with a custom-made skirt. Engaging in conversation with Ulric, her smile grew increasingly graceful and alluring.
They appeared perfectly matched!
Rosalind glanced at Sirena, then at the meat and vegetables in her own hands, as well as her white T-shirt and jeans. She felt completely inadequate in comparison.
Suddenly, she noticed Ulric scanning the area, likely searching for her!
Instinctively, Rosalind swiftly hid behind a nearby shelf.
“Why am I hiding…”
Subconsciously, she didn’t want to be seen standing next to Sirena!
But as if fate were playing a cruel joke, as soon as Rosalind looked up, Sirena appeared right in front of her.
“I remember you. Your name is… Rosalind?”
“Yes, that’s correct.” Although feeling a bit awkward, she forced a smile.
Sirena pointed behind Rosalind and smiled. “Just a moment ago, Ulric was looking for you, wasn’t he? He’s by the daily necessities section now. You should go find him!”
Realizing she had been discovered, Rosalind nodded and quietly agreed.
Just as she was about to leave, Sirena called out to her again unexpectedly.
“Please, take good care of him for me, will you?”
“…”
“I’m aware of your relationship with him. I also know he’s doing this to spite me, but I can’t help it! In a few years, he’ll understand my good intentions.” Sirena stepped closer in her high heels and earnestly grasped Rosalind’s hand. “I’m begging you, for now, love him well on my behalf!”
Rosalind didn’t fully comprehend the complexities between Sirena and Ulric, but it seemed Sirena had her reasons.
Furthermore, from Sirena’s words, it was evident she believed Rosalind and Ulric’s connection wouldn’t endure!
“Miss Garner, concerning Mr. Walters and me, it’s merely a contractual arrangement. I’m simply fulfilling my obligations. The contract doesn’t involve loving him on your behalf.”
Perhaps not anticipating such a straightforward response from the girl who had been hiding, Sirena frowned slightly. “Are you implying… you’ve developed feelings for Ulric?”
“No, Miss Garner, please don’t jump to conclusions,” Rosalind replied resolutely. “I am me, and you are you. There can be no substitutes.”
