“How did he manage to infiltrate that employee group?”
Rosalind accepted the friend request and noticed that Ulric’s WhatsApp chat constantly showed him typing, indicating he had something to say.
However, after waiting for a while, no message came through. Shortly after, his WhatsApp status changed back to typing again.
Rosalind wanted to ask him what was holding him back, but she decided to ignore it and refrained from sending the question mark she had typed.
Her rental apartment was sparsely furnished with personal clothing and books related to the financial industry. After packing everything up, she called the landlord to negotiate the return of the remaining rent.
Following a lengthy discussion, the landlord agreed to refund her a thousand yuan but insisted she move out on the same day.
There was no alternative since she was the one breaking the lease.
Once she had lugged two large suitcases into a taxi, Rosalind finally had a moment to check her phone and found a message from Ulric:
“I’ll be home at six tonight.”
Was Ulric returning today?
She no longer wished to go through with this!
Upon arriving at Easthaven Bay, Rosalind hesitated to touch any of Ulric’s belongings. She discreetly placed her suitcases in a corner and, after settling in, took her laptop to the dining table to work.
As soon as she logged into Prosperity Holdings’ internal software, Tilda sent her a screenshot:
“Confirmed, confirmed! Mr. Walters is definitely married!”
Seeing the words “Mr. Walters is married,” Rosalind was startled, suspecting that Tilda knew something. However, upon opening the image, she realized it was a screenshot from Sirena’s social media post, which read:
“Both Ulric and I value our privacy, so we kindly ask everyone to stop taking candid photos. If I were to have a wedding, wouldn’t I inform everyone?”
The post ended with a smiling emoji.
The wording was cleverly elusive.
It neither confirmed nor denied any relationship or the rumors circulating that day.
With Tilda’s embellishment, it almost implied that they had privately registered their marriage but had yet to hold a ceremony.
However, her marriage certificate with Ulric had not yet turned into a divorce certificate!
Tilda asked, “Why don’t you reply? Do you think if Mr. Walters gets married, he’ll be generous enough to give us a raise?”
Rosalind pondered for a moment and was about to type a response but the male protagonist of the situation returned!
She looked up at the entrance. The newly “announced” groom stood there, leaving her momentarily speechless.
Could she simply approach him and ask for the truth?
“Have you eaten?” Ulric took off his suit jacket and approached with his briefcase.
Rosalind shook her head. “No, but I’m not hungry. What would you like to eat, Mr. Walters? I can cook for you.”
Although her cooking skills might not match those of five-star hotels, she had learned quite a bit from her various jobs over the years.
She needed to demonstrate her capabilities to Ulric at this crucial moment, so he wouldn’t perceive her as being useful only for one thing. It could also earn her some points.
Clearly caught off guard by her response, Ulric hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Anything will do.”
“How about steak and pasta?” Rosalind swiftly closed her laptop and stood up. She hurried to the kitchen to check the ingredients in the fridge. “We don’t have steak, wait a moment, I’ll go buy some!”
She was about to rush out when Ulric took a long stride and grasped her wrist.
“Wait, I’ll change clothes and go with you.”
