Rosalind emerged from under the covers and propped herself up, her voice filled with uncertainty. “Am I supposed to move in and live here?”
Ulric responded, his tone indifferent. “Is there an issue with that?”
She couldn’t help but think of the potential problems. If she moved in, would their relationship become purely cohabitation? Seeing him every day after work would be challenging, as dealing with his moody demeanor could take a toll on her mental and physical well-being.
Moreover, what about his first love? Would she eventually find out about their arrangement? If they were to reconcile, would Rosalind be left in a situation where she had given up her rented apartment, only to witness them rekindle their romance and do all the things couples do?
“Mr. Walters, I believe it would be better if I don’t live here. It would be inconvenient. Rest assured, during the contract period, if you need me, I will come immediately.”
Ulric’s frown deepened, his words commanding and dismissive. “Rosalind, do you truly see yourself as a prostitute?”
Walking to the bedside, he grabbed Rosalind’s hair and whispered in her ear, leaving her feeling intimidated. “I said, move in.”
Feeling afraid, Rosalind submitted to his demand. “Okay, Mr. Walters.”
After breakfast, Ulric left, leaving Rosalind with no choice but to pack her belongings from her rented apartment. Around noon, Tilda called.
“Why aren’t you at work? Mr. Chan said the head office approved your leave! It seems like you’re getting a promotion and a raise, directly transferred to W Group’s head office!”
“I’m preparing for further studies and need to make preparations in advance.”
“Why do you sound so weak, as if you’ve spent the night with a man?” Tilda’s familiarity with such matters led her to guess the truth.
Rosalind’s heart skipped a beat, and she coughed, dismissing Tilda’s assumption. “Stop joking around!”
Tilda giggled but didn’t suspect anything. “By the way, remember I told you about Mr. Walters’ sweetheart, the chief lawyer Sirena Reynolds?”
“Yes…”
“She’s back! Someone saw her walking into the company with Mr. Walters, and they seemed quite happy together! It’s the talk of the office!” Tilda’s excited tone conveyed the scene vividly. “And guess what? I looked closely at Sirena’s photo and noticed you resemble her a bit!”
Rosalind didn’t want to dwell on that observation. “Don’t flatter me, she’s from an affluent background.”
“But you’re also very beautiful! Miss Ruell from the marketing department was stunned when she saw you. If you play your cards right, you could surpass Mr. Chan in no time!”
“Alright, Tilda, I have something to take care of here. I’ll talk to you later.”
Rosalind hurriedly ended the call and sat on the sofa. On impulse, she opened the employee group chat for W Group.
Since Tilda had added her to the group, she hadn’t explored its contents before.
Almost immediately, photos of Ulric and Sirena entering the company together flooded the screen.
Ulric retained his usual cold and stern expression, while Sirena appeared beautiful and gentle, gazing up at him with evident admiration in her eyes.
The group chat buzzed with discussions, mostly praising the couple as a perfect match, as if they were destined for each other.
Watching the conversation unfold, Rosalind swiftly cleared the entire chat history.
Before she could set her phone down, a notification chimed, indicating an unread message.
[Add me back on WhatsApp.]
Ulric?
Pausing for a moment, she copied the number and opened WhatsApp to add him, only to find that he had already sent a friend request.
Simultaneously, Ulric’s account spoke up in the W Group employee chat.
[Who is the group owner? Disband now.]
It was undoubtedly Ulric himself, wasting no words in his directive.
