Thousands? Since when did thousands become many to Kayden?
What he used to face was tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of enemies.
Thousands were nothing to him.
Seeing Kayden’s continued silence, Sophie said, “You’re a kind person, so I’ll tell you, you should get off here.”
Kayden turned to look at Sophie. Their eyes met for the first time, sending a shiver down Sophie’s spine. She actually looked away, unable to maintain eye contact with him.
“It’s no problem.” Kayden replied carelessly.
“No problem?”
Sophie was left speechless. After everything she had said, this was the response she got?
Was this man simply arrogant, or was he genuinely ignorant of the danger he was in?
The bus stopped abruptly again. The driver, trembling, said, “They’re right, Mister and Miss. You should both get off here. South Goose Hall is not a place we should mess with. I… I’m not ready to die yet. I have a family to support. If anything happens because of this, my family will be ruined.”
South Goose Hall was notorious for its cruelty. Common people tended to stay out of their way.
Drivers usually had more connections, so this driver knew more about these things than the passengers.
“A few years ago, someone was crippled just for talking bad about Declan behind his back. That person now begs on the street, without hands or feet! Their ruthlessness is beyond imagination.”
The driver was nearly in tears.
Kayden looked at the driver coldly. “Then there’s even more reason for me to check out this underground organization. You just drive. If anything happens, I’ll take responsibility for any problems.”
Kayden was the War God of Seclela, the Defender of the South. Seeing his people oppressed like this, of course he needed to step in.
Besides, Fletcher Atkinson of the Atkinson family was one of his subordinates.
He then turned to Sophie and said, “And you, if you don’t want to thrown off like that guy, then be quiet. I don’t like being disturbed.”
The driver and the passengers were all speechless. This man clearly had never faced real hardship and wouldn’t heed anyone’s warnings. Out of a sudden, they lost patience with him, thinking perhaps maybe a bit hardship would do him some good, and teach him that he couldn’t go around and do anything he wanted just cause he could throw a few punches.
The driver had no choice but to keep driving, sacred and anxious the whole way.
Sophie was convinced now that his aloofness wasn’t just an act. He genuinely seemed arrogant, believing himself to be invincible with just a few combat skills. She almost wished someone would come and teach him a lesson right now and humble him a bit!
Sitting next to Kayden, Sophie still couldn’t help but turn to look at him.
He was actually quite handsome. The icy look on his face made him even colder. And his plain clothes, which probably cost less than two hundred bucks, couldn’t hide his elegant and noble demeanor.
Unlike most girls, Sophie had a keen eye for judging people.
The moves he had made on the bus made her understand that he must have been exposed to the ways of the world since young.
But even so, he shouldn’t be so arrogant. even with such experience, he shouldn’t be so arrogant. After all, a lion in another’s den is no match for a fox.
As the bus reached the city, the driver noticed something unusual. The usually crowded bus station was quiet today, eerily quiet. All the shops nearby were closed, and these was even less traffic.
Clearly someone had cleared out the whole area.
There was no doubt that the burly man had arrived at Inassea sooner and had already told Declan about what happened.
Only Declan had the power to close off a whole area like this.
The driver braked nervously. He tried to get Kayden to leave earlier, but now it was too late.
“Call the police! Quickly!” Someone shouted in panic.
But he dropped his phone on the ground from fear before he even pulled it out.
Then a startling scene unfolded in front of them. At least two thousand men in black walked out from the bus station with a dominant look on their faces and weapons in their hands. It was very clear what were they there for.
The bus was quickly surrounded by them. This show of force immediately terrified the passengers and some children even started crying.
The driver got off the bus door and tried to plead for mercy, but was kicked away.
Sophie turned to look at Kayden. Despite his seemingly fearless expression, his actions suggested otherwise. He was probably even too scared to stand up now. She thought perhaps he had facial paralysis, since he never showed fear on his face.
“Hey!” Sophie said, shaking Kayden’s shoulder. “What are we going to do now? Weren’t you so arrogant just a moment ago? Why are you hiding on the bus now?”
Kayden turned to look at Sophie and said coldly, “Move.”
Sophie asked, “Where are you going?”
Kayden replied, “To get off, of course. We’ve arrived.”
Sophie’s eyes widened but Kayden already stepped over her.
He was already out of the bus when she had time to react. Sophie’s heart sank. This joke had gone too far!
She hurried after him, yelling, “Hey, I was just kidding! You shouldn’t take it seriously!”
Sophie only teased him because of his arrogant demeanor. But who would’ve thought that he couldn’t handle the provocation and had taken it seriously.
As she followed him out, her head started spinning.
The sea of men in black had surrounded them completely. There was no way to get out.
Just then, a burly man with a swollen face pointed excitedly at Kayden. “It’s him, boss, it’s him!”
Kayden turned to look at the man that has been called ‘boss’ and saw a well-built man in his thirties. He had sharp features and was quite handsome-at least much better looking than the big burly man.
He was wearing all white, a white shirt, a pair of white trousers, and a pair of white leather shoes, which made him stand out in the crowd of men in black.
