The punch took the burly man by surprise, and blood immediately came out of his nose.
He was furious at being punched but a nobody like this man in front of all these people. He roared at Kayden, his face covered in bulging veins, “How dare you hit me? Do you know who I am?”
Kayden couldn’t care less who this trash was and asked coldly, “Do you want to get off on your own, or should I help you?”
The burly man snarled through gritted teeth, “Fuck you!”
Without hesitation, Kayden landed another punch to the burly man’s face, knocking out one of his teeth. The burly man felt a shooting pain on his face, staggered and fell down onto the aisle of the bus.
As he was lying on the ground, his fury began to turn into fear.
This guy was no joke, aiming every punch on the face. He was clearly a seasoned fighter. In the underworld, everyone knew to avoid the face in a fight, as it would be a grave insult.
But this guy only aimed his face, declaring his dominance so blatantly.
“You, you, you bastard, you’re done for! My brother is Declan Black from the South Goose Hall. If you lay another finger on me, he’ll make sure you’re dead!” The burly man regained some of his bravado talking about his brother and looked less scared than before.
Everyone on the bus trembled at the mention of Declan from the South Goose Hall.
Declan was a notorious figure in Inassea. Inassea was divided into four major districts-the South, the North, the East, and the West. Each governed by a powerful underworld figure, and Declan was one of them, in charge of the South Goose Hall. The four men were equally powerful, and it was the four of them who upheld the underworld of Inassea.
Moreover, with Declan’s connections to the Atkinson family, no one in the whole Inassea dared to mess with him.
That’s why the burly man’s face was filled with pride as he spoke of his brother. He snorted and said, “Kid, are you scared now?”
“Oh?” Kayden responded calmly and stepped over to him.
He stopped in front of the burly man and commanded, as calm as ever, “Get up!”
Just two words, crisp and authoritative.
The burly man, surprised, thought Kayden had really gotten scared. As he stood up and brushed off his clothes, he taunted, “So, you’re scared now? I thought you were fearless. You stupid fool, do you think…”
Suddenly, Kayden kicked the burly man, sending him flying out of the bus.
Who gave a damn about the South Goose Hall, or Declan Black. It all meant nothing for Kayden. He could wipe out trash like this with just a snap of his fingers. And if he wanted to, no one would say a word even if he destroyed the whole Inassea.
He was a War God of Seclela, and a small-time thug dared to threaten him with a piece of trash?
“Drive!” Kayden said to the driver coldly before returning to his seat in the back of the bus.
The bus finally quieted down, although everyone was staring at Kayden in disbelief.
Sophie was particularly stunned, unable to tear her gaze away from him.
That was incredibly impressive!
Even though Sophie believed that his aloofness was an act, she couldn’t deny his actions were heroic. So he did have a sense of justice, and must have been paying attention to her in some way.
“Thank you, Miss.” The old man expressed his gratitude to Sophie.
Sophie shook her head. “It’s nothing, Mister.”
Then, she walked over to Kayden’s seat. The woman sitting next to Kayden quickly said, “Miss, you can sit here. I’ll switch seats with you.”
“Hey! Thank you,” Sophie said gratefully to Kayden as soon as she sat down.
Kayden said without turning around, “I wasn’t helping you. He was being too loud and it disturbed my thoughts.”
Sophie was at a loss for words. What was that supposed to mean? Was he implying she was flattering herself?
He was simply too pretentious. He wouldn’t even look at such a beauty like her even once. Was it because he wasn’t interested in her, or that he had some problems down there.
He wouldn’t even have the chance to get close to her if it weren’t for him helping her.
At Inassea University, people would line up to get close to her and to talk to her, but this guy couldn’t care less about her.
Sophie snorted and then asked with a soft voice, “Hey, is there something wrong with your head?”
Kayden didn’t respond, simply keeping gazing out of the window.
It wasn’t that he had issues in that regard. He also had needs like any normal man. He just had better self-control than most men. He knew that there was place for only one woman in his heart.
And of course, there was nothing wrong with his brain.
Being ignored by someone like this for the first time, Sophie thought for a moment and decided to try and frighten him a bit, so she said, “You’re probably an out-of-towner and don’t understand the rules of Inassea. Let me tell you, that man was from South Goose Hall, and his brother Declan is a powerful man with thousands of followers. And do you know who his backing is? His backing is the Atkinson family, the biggest family in Inassea and the most powerful in the entire Southwest region. Not one person in Inassea has the guts to cross Declan. About two or three months ago, a student from my university caused some trouble on his turf, and he has been missing ever since. Everyone knows that student is most likely dead. Declan values loyalty the most. If something happened to his men, he wouldn’t let it go easily. And you’ve hurt one of his men, he won’t let you off easily.”
Sophie said, trying to intimidate him and to see if it was possible for him to get scared.
Sophie kept her gaze on Kayden while saying all of these. But to her surprise, Kayden remained completely indifferent to this subject.
An old man on the bus also chimed in, “Yes, young man, South Goose Hall is ruthless. They control the entire South district. They would definitely retaliate for that guy you hit. You should be careful.”
Shaking his head, the old man continued, “Young people today are too impulsive.”
Sophie added, “Exactly. South Goose Hall is very powerful and has many members. Even if you’re strong, you can’t fight them all. You might defeat one or even ten, but can you handle thousands?”
