When Georgia got married to Kayden, she was still with Sheldon. She had thought about eloping so as not to marry that fool Kayden, but her grandfather had threatened her with his life. She then had no choice but to agree to marry that fool.
Seeing Sheldon again today stirred up a feeling of guilt and brought back many memories from back then. That was why she felt embarrassed by what Kayden had just said.
“Forget it!” Georgia said helplessly.
Why was she arguing with a fool? Kayden was just a fool, after all.
“By the way, you should really think about the job opportunity Sheldon mentioned. Actually, I think fifteen thousand is…”
Kayden cut her off firmly before Georgia could finish her sentence, “He’s insulting me! Don’t you see he’s deliberately trying to belittle me in front of you?”
“What’s wrong with you? He just has what it takes. And what about you? What have you been doing? Nothing! All you do is…” Georgia suddenly lowered her voice, realizing that she might have gone too far.
It was all Sheldon’s fault, his sudden appearance had thrown her off balance, even making it hard for her to control her emotions.
“Forget it!” With that, Georgia turned around and walked out the door.
Kayden sighed deeply and collapsed into bed, saying nothing more.
Life sure was hard. No one would believe him, even if he spoke the truth. It was much better when he was on the battlefield. He could kill whoever he wanted and fire when he was upset, never needing to care about anyone’s feelings.
And now, living in society, he had to follow all these confusing rules.
Kayden felt extremely exhausted, both mentally and physically. Suddenly, he didn’t want to stay here any longer!
He wanted to return to the battlefield, to the place that truly belonged to him.
Before long, the whole neighborhood fell silent. Georgia tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, replaying the words she had just said in her head. Had she been too harsh?
She was being a bit too obvious, as if she was comparing Kayden to Sheldon. How could she have done that? Kayden had just recovered. If he was hurt again because of this, she would be the one to blame.
‘Georgia, you’re so stupid! You’re already married to Kayden, how could you still think about someone else? The past is the past. All you need to do now is live your life well as it is.’ She thought to herself.
In truth, Kayden wasn’t all that bad. He always managed to solve her problems when she was in trouble. He would keep quiet when her family insulted him, yet he would still rush to save them whenever they were in danger.
Kayden had already done well. Maybe he was still trying to be better, maybe he really did have some flaws, but at least his intentions were good, at least he always thought about her.
As she thought about this, she choked up a bit and tried to say, “I’m sorry, Kayden, I…”
Kayden interrupted her before she could finish, “You should think about what your mom said. If you truly don’t want to be with me, if you truly don’t love me, then I will consider a divorce.”
These words exploded in Georgia’s mind like a bomb, leaving her frozen for quite a while. She had been a bit harsh, sure, but she had never thought about getting a divorce.
“Kayden, what are you talking about? I never said I wanted a divorce! What my mom said was indeed too harsh, but…” She couldn’t finish her words, as tears started to well up in her eyes, and her throat started to tighten.
Kayden continued in an emotionless voice, “You’ve kept me safe for three years, I’ll give you a lifetime of wealth and glory in return.”
Tears streamed down her face instantly. Georgia kept her voice low, trying to suppress her cries. She didn’t know why she was crying, but she just couldn’t stop all those tears.
Such resolute words really hurt Georgia’s heart deeply. These three years had meant so much.
As the night grew, the wind became stronger.
No one spoke another word in the house. Georgia fell silent, and so did Kayden.
As soon as he got home, Eli began to plan on how to get close to Kayden’s bodyguard. He was deeply fascinated by that bodyguard’s impressive moves. Killing seemed as easy as breathing to him.
How he wished he had such a talent under his command. Having someone like that would be like having a killing machine at his disposal. If he did have one, no one would dare to cross him in the Southwest.
Oscar Davidson, the Boxing Champion, was killed by just one punch by Connor, but Connor didn’t even have a chance to fight back when he was faced with that bodyguard’s attack, which meant that bodyguard’s strength was many times greater than that of Oscar Davidson.
If they were in a pyramid of power, Oscar would be at the bottom, Connor Powell would be in the middle, and he would be at the top. Oscar was nothing compared to him.
In his life, Eli had always admired powerful people like that and strove to surround himself with them.
“Mr. Barnes.” Suddenly, a man in a well-tailored suit walked in, smiling as if he was carrying some good news.
“How did it go?” Eli asked excitedly.
The man stepped inside and replied at once, “I got it, Mr. Barnes. The guy you asked me to look into is the Adams family’s son-in-law. You might not know that the Adams family has taken a fool as a live-in son-in-law, but I knew about it. Three years ago, Mr. Adams forced his prettiest granddaughter to marry a fool. It was the talk of the town at the time. And that fool’s name is Kayden.”
“You’re sure it’s not just someone with the same name?” Eli asked, thrilled.
The man nodded and said, “No, it’s definitely the same person. There’s only one such person in Hiphia. That fool has been causing quite a stir recently. The biggest incident was when he crippled Ethan Williamson’s son, and Ethan didn’t even dare make a peep! His son’s still in the hospital.”
Ethan Williamson carried quite some clout in Hiphia, with connections in both the underworld and the political world. He wasn’t someone to be trifled with, especially when it came to his beloved son. He would have raised hell when something like that happened to his son. This didn’t make sense.
“Kayden did that?” Eli asked.
The man nodded again, saying, “Absolutely. One of Matthew Williamson’s men tried to help, and his hand got broken too. His name was Freddie Lawson. I was planning to deal with him myself, but then you found out.”
Eli raised his hand and said, “No rush.”
With that, he dialed Ethan’s number.
