Upon hearing this, Nelson frowned, “From now on, my grandfather is your grandfather too.”
Callie sighed, not taking his words seriously, “I don’t even know how to wake my father up. Tobias’s words really unsettled me.”
Nelson walked up to her and, from somewhere, produced a box of ice cream, placing it in front of her. “Given the situation, have something sweet.”
Callie was surprised, “This…”
“You secured the project and got promoted to director. How is that not progress?”
The ice cream was cold and melted in her mouth, the sweetness lifting her spirits a bit. “Grandfather has gone back. I’ll move back to my original room today.”
Instantly, Nelson’s face darkened. She seemed oblivious to any issue. He snatched the ice cream away. “Don’t eat it. You’re ungrateful.”
Callie’s hand was suddenly empty. “What do you mean?” After a moment of silence, she smiled. “Nelson, are you reluctant to let me go?”
The man didn’t look at her directly and snorted coldly.
Having lived together for so long, it was impossible not to get used to it. Even Callie couldn’t deny that sleeping with his arm as a pillow was very comfortable.
“I was joking. Give me back the ice cream.” Callie leaned closer. “Nelson?”
He showed a bit of impatience but returned the ice cream to her leisurely. “Grandfather may have gone back, but how do you know he hasn’t instructed the servants at Paucaster Villa Complex to keep an eye on you?”
Callie nodded repeatedly, going along with it. “You’re right. I’ll reluctantly stay then.”
Nelson smiled, the light falling on the corners of his mouth, making him look very warm.
The celebration banquet was held on the top floor of the Bulgari Hotel.
Early in the morning, Callie was sent to a beauty salon for treatments and then dressed in a special gown by a stylist arranged by Nelson. He spoke amusingly, “Just a little dressing up and you’re so beautiful. Truly a natural beauty.”
Callie laughed, “I’m just an ordinary person.”
“Ma’ma, don’t say such things anymore. You might have been ordinary before, but not now.”
Callie opened her mouth and looked at herself in the mirror. Today she wore a light green fitted long dress that showcased her figure perfectly. Her hair was all pulled back with no extra accessories. Simple yet eye-catching.
The stylist leaned on her shoulder, admiringly saying, “Not to mention anything else, you really look like a young lady from a wealthy family, born for this.”
Callie felt that if he praised her any more, she’d float up to the sky.
In the evening, Nelson came to pick her up in a different car, a modified G-Wagon, very wild.
Callie was stunned for a moment when she saw the man not in a suit but in a simple white shirt. Getting out of the car, he matched its wild aura perfectly. She was surprised; she had thought his core was low-key and cunning.
She didn’t expect him to be so wild.
Nelson walked up to her and extended his hand. “This dress suits you.”
Callie placed her hand in his. “I’m very nervous.”
“You have me.”
With those words, it seemed like nothing was a big deal.
Outside the Bulgari Hotel, many luxury cars were parked. The people coming and going were either rich or noble.
Callie carefully followed Nelson into the elevator. With a ding, they reached the top floor.
Ten tables were set up for industry insiders, all big names in their fields.
Callie cautiously held onto Nelson’s arm as they entered. Their appearance immediately drew countless gazes. The focus gradually shifted from Nelson to the woman beside him. What was going on? He had never brought a female companion to any event before.
