The steak tasted good. Callie really enjoyed it, and she put forward a question, “Mr. Fletcher, you are well off and charming, why didn’t you chase for another woman. I mean a spouse.”
Devon sat with his back against the seat, looking into the distance, and said, “For a man in my age, marriage didn’t matter. If I want a marriage, there will be lots of girls scrambling for this chance. But I don’t like it.”
“Didn’t you play with someone these years?”
“Of course, I did,” smiled Devon; it seemed that he saw something interesting, “in the circle, it happens more or less. If there is a chance, you may ask Mr. Oconnor.”
Callie’s heart missed a beat. Why did he mention Nelson out of the blue?
Devon gazed at somewhere and said, “Miss Marsh, to be honest, I admire you. You are brave and gumptious. I hope we can have a long-term cooperation. If possible, please give my regards to Mr. Oconnor.”
Callie had spent years in the industry, and she understood his implication.
Ostensibly, he wanted to express his thanks to her; but his real motive was to strike up a relationship with Nelson. After all, DV company was a small business. If it could get invested by the Oconnor Group, it would have a brighter future.
Callie laid down her knife and fork and declines him, “Actually, interior design is my line, and due to some reasons, I have to follow the project. Unless DV company will develop real states in the future, I’m sorry that we won’t cooperate again.”
Devon nodded noncommittally and said, “Understood.”
He didn’t force her, and Callie breathed a sigh of relief. To avoid embarrassment, she left the seat on the plea of a nature call.
However, she suddenly saw a familiar silhouette after a few steps.
He was in a white shirt as usual with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, showing his perfect body shape.
A waiter ushered Nelson into a private room.
Callie felt her heart beating fast. She now knew why Devon mentioned Nelson just now. He must’ve seen him. Did he notice her?
The waiter had left. Callie was on the way to a restroom. When she passed by the classic room, she stopped without reasons and found two men are talking.
“Nelson, are you interested in Vankey?” said a man a bit hoarsely, seemingly he had a cigarette but his tone is powerful as Nelson’s.
“It is in a bad management by Deshawn Wilcox. It is a meat at my fingertips. I’m not the only one who has intention to gobble it up,” said Nelson in a flat tone with a bit craftiness.
“I know it depends on capability, but you will lose this time,” said the man with certainty.
Nelson replied with a smile, “I heard you has been in conflict with Vankey. So what? Want me to give it up to you?”
“Would you?”
“Absolutely not. Ylosea is a vanity fair. I will scramble for anything no matter who’s the rival of the Oconnor group.”
There was a sound of chess inside. It seemed that they were playing chess. Wonder who would be the winner.
Callie got no intention to keep listening to it since she didn’t understand the superior business. However, when she made a step to go back on the track, she pushed over a little gadget. Although the sound was not loud but very distinct.
There was a silence inside.
Callie was suddenly in a cold sweet. She clenched her teeth and trotted away, fearing the door was opened.
She ran faster and faster. Not until she rushed into the Ladies did she dare pant for breath. Tsk, curiosity killed the cat!
Just now, the man just called Nelson instead of Mr. Oconnor, their relationship must be between close and strange. They should be rivals as well as friends.
But then, was Vankey going to be bought out?
