The girl’s smile illuminated her entire being under streetlamps. Callie asked, “Give it a try?”
Nelson had an air of uncertainty about him while Callie had picked up a green pepper and put it into his mouth. He gave it a nibble, and a strange flavor filled his mouth which made him cough. He immediately spit it out to the seashore, letting the sea wash it away.
Callie grinned from ear to ear. Before, he always played tricks on her, but finally, she made it successfully.
Nelson wiped his fingers across his lips. When he looked back, he saw that Callie’s long hair was fluttering in the sea breeze; she laughed by holding her stomach; her smile animated her, making her full of radiance.
If Maeve was still alive, she would also be such a beauty.
Being stared by him inscrutably, Callie gradually restrained her smile and apologized without hesitation, “I’m sorry; my bad.”
Nelson stopped looking at her and said, “Let’s get back.”
It was amazing that he didn’t get angry.
After that, Callie searched for relevant information of Devon at once and made an appointment with his assistant.
The DV Company was a developing business which was not a big one. Callie was sitting in the meeting room, and her mouth was a bit dry.
As a middle-aged man, Devon acted in manner, showing his charisma in some way. However, he looked awkward and said, “Miss Marsh, I think I got you.”
Callie nodded. Her effort was not in vain.
“But I have not met her for 3 years. She hates me so much that she won’t give the IP to me,” Devon showed a bitter look, “Now that you have won her trust, why don’t you go ahead to get it from her?”
In the afternoon, sun was shining through the window. Callie could feel the heat on her back.
“Mr. Fletcher, I asked Violet if she has something to tell you. Guess what?”
Devon’s hands clutched each other which were blue with nervousness. He asked, “What did she say?”
“She said she hoped you could have a better future.”
Devon felt surprised with his hand slackened.
“One of our designers visited Violet before but didn’t get the IP from her. So I think even if I ask for it, I will fail. But if it is you, the thing can change for the better.”
“Miss Marsh, is the IP that important to you? Sincerely, you can develop the business in another aspect.”
“Devon Fletcher, what are you afraid of?” Callie interrupted him by calling his full name.
Devon was struck dumb.
“You fear to face her.”
“I…”
“You cheated on the woman who loved you the most, but you, as a man, has no courage to face her emotions. You make your 8-year life a joke. And now, you don’t even dare see her. What a coward.”
Devon kept silent without disproving it.
“She’s married. Give her a final meeting even it is not for the IP.” Callie turned up with her trump card, seeing the man felt astonished and then lost.
In the Paucaster Villa Complex, no sooner Callie got out of the show did she receive a phone call from Violet. Violet kept silent for a while and said with irony, “You are his business partner.”
It turned out that Devon had met her.
Callie didn’t know how to explain it and kept silent. When benefit was linked to relationship, everything changed. And she did have an ulterior motive.
“He cried to me today, saying that he would confess his sins for the rest of his life. I suddenly got relieved completely. It should be the harshest punishment for him that he cannot forget me. So I will let go of the past and also the IP. Tomorrow someone will help with the transfer. Miss Marsh, congratulations,” said Violet in a bit satiric and desolate tone.
