Chapter 65 You Didn’t Give Me A Chance to Speak

Nelson unmuted the computer and said, “No, but there are some points I need to clarify.”
Callie covered her mouth all the way in case she would make a noise when Nelson made his speech with assurance and composure. The man was talking about something she did not understand at all while he stared at her with a smirk.
A weird feeling welled up in her heart which made her a bit nervous and excited.
“That’s it for today,” said Nelson.
The meeting finally ended, leading to a deep sigh of relief from Callie who grumbled, “Why didn’t you tell me that you were having a meeting in the car… They must have heard my voice!”
Nelson did not tell her the truth that he pressed the mute button but said, “You didn’t give me a chance to speak.”
“Then what? What should I do?” Callie asked.
Seeing that Callie looked very panicked as if the world came to an end, Nelson showed his masculinity just like everything should yield to him-and said, “So what? From their perspective, it is not normal if I don’t have a lady with me.”
“It’s not the point. It is me. Oh gosh, never mind, you’ll never understand!” Callie said with a pale look.
Suddenly, Nelson gave a laugh, “It seems that I forgot ending the meeting.”
Callie was completely out of wits and got close to his computer. However, there was nothing on it.
She was so discomfited that she began to flutter her hands, “Nelson Oconnor! How childish you are!” He must be too bored, otherwise he shouldn’t play tricks on her.
Nelson put his hand on her restless head, saying slowing, “How’s it going with her?”
“I have not told her who I am. This is a step-by-step process. I will come here again in the next few days.”
“Again?”
Callie mistakenly reckoned that Nelson was impatient about it and promptly responded, “I will come alone.”
The air conditioner of the car made the atmosphere comfortable. Nelson asked, “What about Joaquin?”
“He… Here is far away from the Oconnor Group. He should not have an idea that I’m here now. In addition, he hasn’t shown up for days. Maybe it was just a bluff that he said he would put me to death.”
Callie made a plausible explanation because she felt embarrassed to be a hassle to Nelson.
“You got the bad luck because of your carelessness. None of the miscreants have the same ideas as you,” Nelson snorted, accelerating the car at a high speed.
Callie fastened the seat belt promptly and said, “What… What about asking your chauffeur to go with me? He is tall and strong enough to protect me.”
Nelson threw her a glare, with his mood getting worse and worse, and said, “Whatever!”
‘Why does he sulk? It is weird.’
Callie told Violet that she would come to talk to her every day, in order to relieve her depression.
Violet was a nice person who kept exhorting her she couldn’t hurt herself no matter how sad she was.
Thinking of it, Callie could not help but feel guilty since she told a lie.
When Callie was going to the cafe in the next day, she found a familiar figure sit behind. Nelson was closing his eyes for rest. She felt surprised but asked in a submissive manner, “I thought only your chauffer…”
“Don’t think too much. I’m just leaving work,” responded Nelson.
“Wow, it is early. Normally not until 10 PM.”
“Don’t be a nag. Are you getting on or not?” Nelson interrupted her questioning with his eyes open.
Callie only said a word then she buttoned her lips, “Yes!”
In fact, she felt at ease if Nelson came with her. And it was weird that she even had a better mood though she was treated unpleasantly by Nelson.
She lowered her head, a smile could not help to lift the corner of her mouth, thinking that maybe it was the sense of safety he provided.
