Callie thanked him at once. “Thank you, Mr. Oconnor, but there’s no need.”
Seeing her so stubborn, Nelson didn’t insist, and left with his assistant.
Callie breathed a sigh of relief and went to the control room.
Inside, Callie was very disappointed to find that all the videos from the design department that morning had been deleted.
She should have thought of this earlier.
Since Lorelai and Mr. Montes dared copy her works, they must have long destroyed the evidence. That’s why they were convinced that she wouldn’t find anything.
Ding!
It was a message notification on her phone. She opened it and saw a message about the design drafts for the Food Company, but more importantly, it was Lorelai’s name that was on those drafts.
Callie gripped her phone tightly. Though she felt so frustrated, but at the moment, there was nothing she could do….
After work, Callie received a message from Mr. Montes on time.
Thinking that she still had a dinner to attend, she had no choice but to take a taxi to Victoria Restaurant.
“Callie, why aren’t you here yet?”
Mr. Montes’s stern voice came through the phone. Callie glanced at the busy traffic outside the car window and quickly responded, “I’m almost there, there’s a bit traffic.”
“I’ll give you fifteen minutes to get here, or else take the consequences.”
With that, he hung up, leaving Callie blinking in confusion.
She didn’t have time to think too much. The restaurant wasn’t far from here, so Callie opened the car door, got off and ran towards the direction of the restaurant.
Beep beep beep… After running for who knows how long, she heard a series of honks behind her. And then, a familiar Maybach stopped in front of her.
“Mr. Oconnor!”
Callie was surprised. How could she run into him here?
“Mr. Oconnor, what are you doing here?”
Seeing that her forehead was already covered in sweat, Nelson asked, “Where are you going? Let me give you a ride.”
Callie wanted to refuse, but the thought of Mr. Montes warning her to be there on time made she decide to trouble Nelson this time. She got into the car and gave him the address.
Soon after, he started the car and drove away.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Callie thanked him and hurriedly rushed in.
Nelson frowned slightly, then made a phone call.
“I changed the place, I’ll send the address to you later.”
After hanging up the phone, Nelson found a parking spot and walked into the restaurant as well.
This was a restaurant mainly decorated in European style. The head chef was specially invited from France, which attracted many upper-class people.
Just as Callie reached the door of the private dining room, Mr. Montes stopped her.
“What took you so long?”
“Traffic jam, sorry for being late.”
“I told you, Callie, today’s contract is very important. If you can’t score it, there will be serious consequences for you tomorrow.”
Before Callie could catch the meaning of these words, she was pushed into the room by Mr. Montes.
“Sorry for being late.”
The people sitting inside were all partners of the company. Suddenly, all eyes fell on Callie, scrutinizing her.
“Is this the Callie Marsh Mr. Montes was talking about?” Mr. Roberson smiled and spoke first.
“Oh, Callie, you finally came!” Mr. Saunders added.
“We heard a lot about you from Mr. Montes. You’re indeed as beautiful as what he describes.”
“Not really, Mr. Saunders, you are too flattering.”
Callie remained poised and composed, leaving no room for criticism. But even so, Mr. Saunders handed her a glass of red wine and said, “Since you’re late, you owe us three drinks as a penalty.”
