Author’s Point of View:
You might be wondering why Lola is so suspicious of Annabella, well, I will be giving you an exclusive foreshadowing.
….
Three hundred years ago:
Lola’s Point of View:
As I held my father’s cold dead body in my hands, a single tear escaped from my eyes.
“Argh!” I howled like a wolf.
“Father!” I cried out like a young widow, and began to hit my forehead on the floor repeatedly. Not minding that blood was gushing out of it. I felt alone, my last anchor had just left the earth, leaving me all alone.
“Come back to me, father! Come teach me the weakness of hunters. You promised you’d make me a brave woman, you said you’ll teach me how to be brave!” I yelled aggressively, and squeezed the dead body in-between my arms, hoping he would hear my cry and somehow respond to me.
The other survivors stood still looking at me with their pitiful gazes, they all looked sorry for me. I knew they were also hurt, we all were. The Malt’s household lost hundreds of families.
We lost the most, the shadow hunters kept attacking us; even when we tried to protect them from the rogue vampires, they were still merciless, and they decided to shoot my father with a poisonous arrow, simply because he refused to tell them where I was hidden.
I wanted to scream, to tell them to back off and leave my father alone, but I couldn’t. I had promised my father that I would keep quiet and hide till rescue came.
My father tried to be brave, and he kept hitting the shadow hunters who tried to enter the coven. But it wasn’t enough.
Just when I thought everything would be over, a young lady, dressed in werewolf skin dipped her arrow inside a bottle of poison and shot my heroic father.
It was at that moment my mother, Lady Quinn Lupa and her fellow elders entered, but it was too late, and my father was already consumed by the poison.
She left my father alone, and ran after the shadow hunters, but they all scattered, running and luring her into their hideout.
I couldn’t see the rest of them faces, but I saw that of the lady who shot my father, and I vowed to kill all shadow hunters and their children.
“I will avenge my father’s death, and I will start with the descendants of the lady that killed him!” I vowed, and made a blood oath before my father’s body turned into ashes.
TO THE PRESENT:
“The lady I saw Adriel with at the birthday party looked a lot like the wolf skinned lady, and I will do all within my power to ruin her and her entire family, even if the price to be paid is my life!
………
THE NEXT MORNING [Anna’s condo]
Annabella’s Point of View:
The air was thick with the murmur of voices, a jarring sound of chanting that seemed to bargain for my very soul.
I felt like a traveler lost in an endless desert, desperate for a guiding light to lead me out of the darkness. My spirit longed to break free, to shatter the shackles holding me captive. My head throbbed as if millions of drums were being pounded in unison.
“Arella, Annabella, Arella, Annabella, Arella, Annabella…..” Those two names continued to echo in my head, each pulse like a hammer striking an iron.
I felt scared, and I kept turning on my bed, trying to wake up from the present nightmare I was in. After struggling for hours, my eyes finally flickered open.
The room was blurry, but as my vision cleared, I saw a figure standing beside me. Her piercing blue eyes locked onto mine. She looked exactly like me, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
As I was about to ask her who she was, a cold hand gently touched my face, and I jumped up in surprise.
Millen stood by my side, looking at me with her piercing eyes, trying to find a missing puzzle. In her hand was a bowl of broken raw eggs, and the smell made me so dizzy that I quickly ran into my bathroom to puke.
My head hurt so bad, it was like a thousand angels were drumming on it, trying to cast out a mysterious demon.
I held my head, and rested on the walls.
My eyes squinted as I remembered what happened last night.
“How dare he? How dare Adriel beat Logan up just because he invited me to the birthday party?” I yelled at the top of my voice for no reason, and paused to process what I had just said.
Millen looked baffled, and she kept staring at me, expecting an explanation.
“I can’t remember what exactly happened last night, but all I remember was Logan confessing to me that he’s Adriel’s stepbrother, then he excused himself. But Adriel ordered his guards to capture Logan, and he beat him up, because he invited me to the party….. Then I remembered a man werewolf…… Ahhh, I don’t remember who the person was. I drank a lot of alcohol!” I explained to Millen with an unconvinced voice, when she asked for an explanation of what happened last night.
“Humm, Logan…” Millen murmured, thoughtfully staring at the floor.
I arched my brows at her, wondering if she was aware of something secretive. “What is the matter with you, Millen?”
“Oh it’s nothing!” She replied with a grimace on her face and pushed the bowl of egg towards me. “Here, I made your face lotion for you, exactly how you like it.”
I furrowed my brows in surprise, unsure of what to say to her. Indeed, I used raw eggs to wash my face every morning, but today, the eggs smell made me sick, and I didn’t want to apply it.
I wanted to voice out my concern, but I knew it would make Millen suspicious, so I smiled broadly at her and collected the bowl.
As I was about to apply it on my face, Megan entered the room, looking shocked and anxious.
“Sister Annabelle, mother said you must come to Saga City today, and Millen will follow you! I think they’ve planned a surprise engagement party with Prince!” She announced with a cracking voice, and the look on my face was that of horror.
The bowl of eggs dropped from my hand, splashing all over the floor.
