Adriel’s Point of View:
I could smell his blood, and I knew he was a Beta werewolf. He didn’t see me thanks to the darkness.
I secretly watched as he moved towards Annabella, my blood boiling in rage.
“So you think you can hide from me, right?” He asked with a mischievous voice, roaming over her body with his lustful eyes.
“Leave me alone, please…” Annabella cried out, gasping for breath, her voice lost in the wind. But the man was unfazed by her cries.
“I’ve seen you on many tv shows, and wonder what you will taste like in person, oh ….” The werewolf looked up in the sky, pointing at the moon. “Look, it’s a full moon today, I am sure the moon goddess has blessed today!” he whispered, his eyes darting around her.
“Moon goddess….” Annabella murmured under her breath, as if remembering something, and she raised her head in shock. “Are you a werewolf?” She asked with a look of shock on her face.
To be fair, I was shocked to hear that she believed in werewolves. I mean, I know that parents tell their children stories about supernatural creatures, but most kids believed it to be fairy tales, so seeing someone who believed in them for the first time made me surprised.
“Oh yes, I am a werewolf!” the man affirmed and burst into menacing laughter. He transformed into a werewolf, right in front of Annabella, howling into the sky like a psychopath.
Annabelle’s eyes widened in shock, her jaws dropped, and she began to murmur some words which I was unable to hear clearly. Although she was as frightened as a roasted corn, she still stood her ground, trying to act brave.
“Don’t touch me, my family are shadow hunters…. If you kill me, they will surely wipe your races. Also, I feed on wolfsbane every single day…..” she stammered, shivering like a rose in a winter storm.
I was taken aback by her words. I mean a normal human isn’t supposed to know so much about hunters and wolf’s poison. But before I could think of the possible reason, the werewolf burst into laughter, and pushed her off the balcony.
“Let’s see if your shadow hunter family will catch you then,” he said with a wicked tone, his eyes shining with excitement.
I knew I wasn’t supposed to confront the werewolf, he was a Beta werewolf, and although I was nearly a thousand years old, I was in a weak frame of mind, and my blood was drained. I needed a refill. But I couldn’t watch her die, I don’t know the main reason, but I knew I was supposed to do everything in my power to rescue her.
Without thinking, I came out of the darkness like a hardened villain, released my black wings, and jumped off the balcony, catching her before she could land on the floor.
Annabella looked shocked, scared and baffled. She looked at me with arched brows, her eyes demanding an explanation. But I was too weak to start explaining myself to a human.
I hugged her, and it calmed my soul. But then her blood smell intoxicated my senses more than before. And on reaching the balcony, I carefully dropped her on the floor, before my blood thirty urge could overpower me.
“Wow! I have always known that Lupa’s family were mysterious, but never in my wildest dreams have I imagined you guys as vampires. I thought your family was involved in witchcraft and sorceries,” the werewolf snarled, angering me with his words. I couldn’t see the look on Annabelle’s face, but I guessed she thought she was in a dream.
I didn’t reply to the werewolf, my senses sharpened up, and I allowed my aggressive side to possess me completely because I wanted to save her.
I charged at him, and he didn’t back down. We both collided like a bomb, and the werewolf bit me on my neck. I didn’t push him away, he must have forgotten that I was a vampire.
I pulled him closer to me, allowing him to bite me even more, and when I was sure he thought he was in control, I wrapped one of my hands around his fur, and used my other hand to hold his tail, then I bit him on his neck.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t convenient for me, and I wasn’t able to suck his blood.
When I was young, I was taught that drinking wolf’s blood was a taboo, as it could poison vampires. But at that moment, I didn’t care about getting poisoned, because I was already poisoned in my mind and my soul.
I knew it was like fighting a useless war if I wasn’t able to suck his blood. So I decided to use what my great aunt taught me.
I pushed him away from my body and began to recite forbidden dark spells.
If I use too much of my energy, my friends will get informed and my mother will know that something was up. I didn’t want anyone to know what happened to me, because I wasn’t sure who had evil intentions in my family.
I turned into a dark vampire, and the Beta werewolf on seeing what I had become tried to escape, but before he could move a limb, I struck him with a poisonous arrow, and he ended up falling on the floor, within a matter of seconds.
He began to growl in pain, and he turned back to a human before he burned into ashes.
Annabella was shivering all along, and she kept muttering ‘it’s all a dream’ to herself.
I wanted to assure her that everything would be alright, but the spell I recited drained my last energy, and I collapsed on the floor.
Annabelle ran towards me in fear, her eyes scanning my body carefully.
“You are a vampire! Vampires are indeed back to Limiha and Saga City….” She murmured under her breath, her tone was filled with doubt and sarcasm, and although she was saying it, I could detect that she didn’t believe it.
‘What do you mean by vampires returning to Saga City?’ I muttered in pain, trying to push her away from my side, so I wouldn’t hurt her. But she acted clingy, and stuck to me like glue.
“This is a dream, I will be okay when I wake up….” She assured herself, and I shook my head at her naive behavior.
“Since this is a dream to you young lady, how about you give me your blood? I can’t drink it unless you give me the permission to?” I asked with a sarcasm filled voice, looking at her with a mischief glint in my eyes. Actually, I wasn’t the one who asked her the question, it was the entity possessing me that spoke using my mouth.
Annabella looked at me with a confused eye for a minute; and because I wanted to tell her to run away, the entity began to eat my intestines, and I began to scream. The balcony was soundproof, and the noise of the ongoing birthday party didn’t allow anyone to hear my shout.
“If I don’t give you my blood, will you die?” She asked me curiously, her eyes filled with concern. I wanted to say no, but I ended up saying yes.
She looked at me worriedly, “this is just a dream… Also, my blood is clean, I don’t drink sliver because I thought all vampires are dead…..” she assured me before doing the unthinkable thing.
Annabelle bent her neck towards me and harshly scratched it with her fingernails.
I didn’t want to suck the blood that was dropping out of the wounded neck, but the entity cried out, and my entire senses began to resonate with it.
My eyes widened in shock, and in an instant, my fang roughly dug into her neck, sucking her sweet familiar blood.
“Argh!” She cried out with a fearful voice, as I sucked her neck aggressively.
