Adriel’s Point of View:
I can’t explain how I felt at that moment, because it felt like my blood was being sucked by an unseen entity. Not only was this entity sucking my blood without my permission, it was also trying to get in my head, to possess me and make me aggressive.
I was slowly losing control of my mind again, and all I craved for was fresh blood! The last time something like this happened to me, I fed on a community of adult fae.
I didn’t want to lose my head again, so I tried to fight it, by reciting the spells I know, and by using my power to guide my sanity; but the more I resist, the faster this entity feeds on me. My eyes became pitch black, my veins popped out, and my sharpened claws came out.
I raised my head, consumed by hunger, and the first person I saw was Annabella. She looked at me with concern in her eyes.
As Annabella moved closer to me, my thirst increased. I wish she could see my current condition and run away, before I hurt her. But the darkness in the balcony covered every ray of sunlight.
“Mr Adriel, are you alright? You look very pale, is everything okay?” Annabella asked with a worried voice, and as I tried to take a step backward, she moved forward.
‘Godammit! If she doesn’t stop moving closer, I will suck every single drop of her blood!” My possessed mind cried out menacingly, hoping she could somehow hear my thoughts.
“Adriel, why are you acting so strange? Is this a trick?” She continued with the same concerned voice.
My eyes widened as my night vision was activated. My fists clenched at my sides, my nails digging into my palms. I preferred to starve, then to suck the blood of an innocent and kind lady.
I tried to talk to her, to warn her against staying on the balcony with me, but my mouth betrayed me, and I began to throw up black blood. The feeling was painful, and I held my stomach with my hands as I tried to think of what could have caused this abnormal thirst. Suddenly, I remembered the glass of wine I took.
‘Oh no, that server must have been waiting for me to drink it all along!’ My mind cried out, and my face twisted in pain, as I kept throwing up more blood. A hollow ache spread through my chest, like a void opening up inside me. My breath caught in my throat as I fought to hold back my urge.
Surprisingly, Annabella heard my thoughts, and she furrowed her brows in confusion.
“I don’t understand what you are talking about. What servant?” She asked me, and tried moving closer, but I stopped her by raising a hand.
“Fine! Since you’ve refused to talk in a language I understand, I’ll go and get your sister and Logan. They might be able to help you, and get you to a hospital in time!” She informed me with a worried expression, and turned to leave the room , but I stopped her.
“No Annabelle, don’t tell anyone about my current condition. I will be fine.” I grunted with all of my energy, trying to put on a brave face, but I ended up collapsing on the floor.
My mind raced as I struggled to process what was happening to me. My thoughts were messy and scattered, and I could swear I felt hopeless at that moment.
Her emotional voice, and the empathetic look in her eyes seemed to calm my aggressiveness, but it was only for a minute.
With the signs I was exhibiting, I knew that silver and wolf bane was added to the wine I took. My body began to decompose, and blood was dripping from my nose and eyes. Screams left my throat as I felt my flesh being chopped off with a blunt butcher knife.
“What am I to do now? I didn’t study medicine! We need a professional doctor to examine you.” Annabelle howled with a pained voice, her eyes were crystal clear, and I knew she was about to start crying.
I was confused, and I couldn’t help but wonder why she felt pity for me. The look in her eyes seemed to give me hope, telling me that I must survive and claim her.
Using all my energy, I stood up, my hands were on my stomach, and I looked at her with sympathetic eyes.
“Bella, you have to get away from here right now. If not, I might do something I will end up regretting.
Please, leave, and tell no one. I will be fine,” I spat out, mumbling for only her to hear. I wasn’t sure if I wanted her to leave because I felt better in her presence, but I knew that was the only way to ensure her safety. The entity might trigger more alarming emotions of mine, and I might not be able to fight back.
Annabelle grunted in dissatisfaction, she looked at me with her curious eyes, observing my every movement. I knew she was contemplating what I’d said. The look in her eyes said she didn’t believe that l would be fine on my own, and she wanted to stay with me. But having no other options, she sighed in submission and threw her hands up.
“Fine, I will leave since you want to act like a superman who isn’t capable of dying.
It’s your choice anyway, and if you want to die, be my guest…. I don’t care!” She muttered, shook her head at me, and crossed her arms.
I knew she was worried sick about me, and although she said she didn’t care if I died, her voice betrayed her, and a low sorrowful moan left her lips at the end of her sentence.
I nodded my head at her, giving her an assuring look, and after a momentary silence and suspicious gaze, she turned to leave. She stood in front of the balcony’s door and peeped, trying to check if anyone was hiding outside.
I was surprised by her behavior, but I guessed she was playing a hide and seek game with Logan.
As she was about to take her first step out of the balcony, a man entered, his eyes gleaming with malice as he looked at her. Annabella looked shocked to see him, it was as if she recognized him; and she quickly ran to the edge of the balcony in fear.
