Gia was wearing a white dress with lacy long sleeves. She wore white pearl earrings and a matching pearl necklace. Her lips were adorned with a bright red lipstick that was a huge contrast to her pure white outfit. She was wearing a sheepish smile as she walked inside the meeting room in a catwalk that looked forced on her legs. She walked amidst the applause to the table, just beside the Alpha and gave her brightest smile at everyone in the room. She didn’t even look down at the Alpha yet but kept giving everyone else a sheepish smile.
“Please everyone, you may sit down. You’re making me feel so flattered right now,” she said in a honeyed voice and the officials laughed and sat down. The Media and Public Relations Minister left his seat and gestured politely to it.
“Please, sit down close to your future Alpha,” he said and she giggled dramatically.
“Thank you, Minister Romano,” she said and sat down like a queen beside her king. All these while, Wayne and his men wore a stoic expression. Each one of them peering at Gia with hatred and the need to give her a slap. So, this what was she wanted? They all guessed this at some point, didn’t they? But during the past two weeks or so, Gia had completely gone under. No word was heard from her nor did she come around to flirt around the Alpha or threaten Olive. This was most likely because she had duly undergone her punishment and needed time to heal back. And just imagine the chaos she had erupted immediately after returning to her full self.
When the excitement had died down, the General cleared his throat again.
“Is this not an excellent idea? Making the well-known lady of discipline and culture, the Luna of the pack. What more could we ask for?” someone with a loud voice asked rhetorically and the officials made sounds of affirmation amongst themselves.
“So, this is who you desire to be Luna,” Alpha Knight drawled as his gaze rested on Gia. His expression showed amusement but the officials mistook it for him being pleased at the person they had chosen.
“My daughter is very fit to be the Luna of this pack. We have all waited for your mate to come because we expected her to be a deserving female with poise and elegance. However, since your mate has turned out to be quite the opposite, we have no choice but to give you the person we believe has this qualities,” General Kalif explained and Wayne nodded. He was still looking at Gia and swinging sideways on his swiveling chair.
“Alpha Knight, I believe that if I’m given the chance, I would make the most of this pack with you. I can help us grow better. I am the best woman to support you to rule Balendin Pack because I am a fruit of this pack too. Isn’t it better for the son of the soil to rule the land?” Gia tendered her own speech and again, the officials made their sounds of affirmation. Some whispering yes, others saying indistinguishable words of agreement while the reserved ones just nodded their heads.
“Nice speech, Gia,” Wayne stated and Shem chuckled behind him. He was frowning deeply at her and the chuckle didn’t even reach his nose talk more of his eyes.
Shem was very angry with this turn of events because, first, he hated Gia so much. And second, Olive didn’t deserve to be taken away from her mate. Not with how much he had come to accept her and love her. He wanted the best for his brother, and Olive was simply the best he had seen so far. Not some pretending poison of a female sitting a few feet away from him.
Gia heard Shem’s dark chuckle but chose to ignore it. She was in her very best mood today and nothing could spoil it because she was eighty percent close to her goal already. She was going to celebrate after this meeting because they would get the Alpha hooked. He would have no choice but to agree to the decision they had all made.
“Well, thank you,” she said to Wayne even know she knew his reply to her was more of a mockery than a compliment. Reason why Shem chuckled in the first place.
“I believe you have something more to say. The most important information about your plan,” Wayne said after looking away from Gia.
“You are a wise man as always,” General Kalif chuckled deeply.
“We know you might refuse this decision that we all have made. But we want to give you time. If you do not agree with us, we will release the exclusive information about your mate to the whole pack and you would have to deal with the pandemonium and rebellion from them. However, you can avoid that by just agreeing and mating with Lady Gia on the day of the Mating Ritual,” General Kalif explained and Wayne smirked.
“What makes you think I would fear this threat of yours, Kalif?”
“This is not threatening, your Alpha. This is just telling you facts about what your people can do especially to your mate if her news comes out. News I doubt you even know,” the General declared and Wayne got the urge to chuckle but he didn’t.
“I would really like to hear this news you keep talking about. But, I just realized that I left my mate in our bedroom without even telling her I was leaving. She should be really worried about me now. So, I’m sorry but this meeting is adjourned. We would talk about this more extensively later,” Alpha Knight said in a loved up voice.
It was to show the officials where his mate was placed in his heart and give them a hint that he would not leave her for whatever reasons they had, if he could not leave her for a few minutes unattended.
After saying what he had said, he got on his feet and began to walk away. Jake and the men with the guards who had accompanied him earlier followed after him. The officials erupted with sounds and talks that the room became very noisy at once.
Gia frowned deeply at the way Wayne just bounced off the meeting as if it was nothing. She had spent hours dressing up for this meeting and had actually come late, though at the right time still. However, the way the Alpha was looking unfazed about this whole matter angered her. Shouldn’t he be feeling a little guilt for trying to impose a woman like Olive on his pack? Or didn’t he know about her? Gia doubted that Wayne had no idea at all.
She suspected that he didn’t know everything but only that his mate was a ruffian before meeting her.
She was determined to get the position of Luna and her plans were moving accordingly. She just needed to make Alpha Knight see that she wasn’t bad but just had the pack at heart.
“Alpha,” she called after Wayne in a honeyed voice. Some of the officials had already gotten on their feet and were either exchanging pleasantries or gossips with each other. She hurried away from them in her heels and reached Wayne who had stood still. His men were gathered about him like he needed the most protection in a foreign territory.
“Alpha,” she called again with a small smile. Wayne exhaled deeply and turned around to look at her. Shem bit his lower lip hard to stop himself from smacking his palm against her face and erasing the ugly smile she was wearing.
“What is it?” Wayne questioned. He was suddenly back to being cold and deadly. His voice which was all amused and honeyed up earlier was back to being thunder and lightening. Gia pouted because he was sounding harsh.
“Why are you being so harsh to me?” she inquired in a cute girl kind of tone with the pout she was also wearing.
“Oh please, Gia or whatever you call yourself. Get rid of that pout and stop trying to act cute. If you continue, I might throw up my hamburger,” Shem scowled at her that she gasped.
“Excuse me, Mr Shem Knight. How dare you talk to me like that?” Gia retorted.
“Great, there goes the Gia I know,” Shem mocked again. He was trying to rile her up in order for her to show her real character.
“That is enough, Shem. What is it Gia?” Jake asked her. She gulped down and smiled at Wayne again.
“Can we please talk in private? Or if you’re busy now, we could get a date to sit down and talk. I have a lot of things to hear from you, my Alpha.”
“Until next time, Gia,” the Alpha said and walked away with his men. Gia exhaled deeply through her mouth and almost raked her fingers through her hair. She stood there watching him go away and she pinned her lips together. He had cut her away again.
