ALPHA DERON
“Get the car ready! ” I stormed out of my room with a small bag, containing a few of my clothes inside, talking to one of my guard.
There was no need to stay here any more, when my daughter needs me. It was best for me to hurry down to the location and save her from getting killed.
But what if that monster wants me to go there so she can easily get my daughter? “No, I need to be smart. I can’t allow that wolf to trace Estelle’s location. I’ll just pretend and lure the demon to a place where I can easily get my hands on it. Yes, that’s what I’ll do, ” I planned, pulling my bag closely and making my way down the stairs.
I already sent one of the guard outside to get my car ready while the second was waiting to grab my bag from me.
“Are we coming along or staying behind?” The guard asked, not sure of what was going to happen next.
I was about to speak, but waited for his second to arrive, telling both men what they’d do. “You need to stay here and guard this mansion. I still need to sell it off and get enough money to pay you two. Then if you do well, you get an extra,” I promised, swaying them with my words.
Their ears sprang at my promise, nodding in acceptance to the deal.
“Now, I’ll be heading out to go and be with my daughter!” I said that loudly, just in case that wolf was hiding and watching us. “I need to protect my baby girl by all means.”
“Um… Okay,” The guards uttered, looking a bit confused with the way I spoke.
Bidding them farewell, I handed one of them my bag, set to leave when… “You sound like someone who’s about to pull a prank on an enemy,” A familiar voice uttered from behind.
Quickly, I turned around and found… “Brielle?” Sitting on the upper steps of the staircase, looking straight at me with a smile on her face!
“Instead of talking like an inexperienced actor, why can’t you just be honest. You aren’t going to see your daughter, but setting a trap!” She grinned wider.
Her presence stunned me. How did she get into the mansion without being noticed? Even the guards couldn’t give an answer, because they stared at this woman in shock.
“It’s the Luna,” They both muttered, bowing down at her immediately. “Greetings, Luna.”
Idiots! Did they have to do this right next to me? And they want me to pay them. Fools!
“Aww! You two are wonderful and respectful. But why are you working for Deron?” She asked, pointing at me. “Men with such huge figures need a better job at a big place. Let’s say… At my new mansion here at Red Wood? ”
“What?” I uttered, surprised by what she just said. She’s… She’s openly stealing my men from me!
“The councils have gotten me a place here in the pack. I’ll be needing experienced and hardworking servants there,” She shared.
What she said triggered the mind of these two idiots, who began to listen to all her tempting offers. “Think about it. You’ll be working as your Luna’s guards. You don’t need to come down and apply because the Luna is giving you the offer face to face. You get paid every week, free food and a comfy place to stay. What do you say, boys?” She rose to her feet.
Her words got to the two men in an instant. The one who had my bag in his hold, dropped my luggage to the ground roughly, looking at his second. What if there was something breakable inside?! Moron!
“Weekly payment? Free meals? Comfy accommodation?” They listed with desire in their eyes, smiling at what this wretch had said.
And just like that, they turned their backs on me, rushed up to meet Brielle, and bowed at her feet, accepting and thanking her for the offer.
I was annoyed in an instant! “How dare you step into my mansion and steal my guards?!” I roared at Brielle, who gasped out and said, “Alpha Deron. Oh, sorry. Deron. I forgot you are no longer the ruler of this pack, but don’t mistake my kindness for theft. I am trying my best to give this poor men a good life. Just look at them! Bandaged!”
She placed her hands on them, where they bowed at her feet, acting like a god mother to her god children. “These men need a good place to stay! And I’m ready to do that,” She said, getting serious.
I groaned at her action, watching my guards turn their back at me, showing love to the one who stole my throne.
“Now, leave this place. You don’t have to work for this man for free. Trust me when I say this, he won’t pay you your money. I know what he’s going through, that’s why I’m here to help all of you… Including you, Deron,” She said, slowly stepping down the stairs with the men.
And right there, she sent my guards away, after giving them a lot of money, more than their salary, planting joy on their faces. “Come down to the mansion at Wolf Crest tomorrow. My Beta will attend to you. ”
“Thank you, Luna,” They both appreciated and ran out of the mansion without talking to me. They just vanished like ghosts on the wind.
As soon as they left, I turned my attention back to Brielle, only to find her standing before me already! I didn’t hear her footsteps, so how did…
“Deron, why are you being so hard on yourself?” She asked, looking at me with sadness in her eyes. “I know we both have our differences, but as the former ruler of Red wood, who’s in need of serious help, you should have said something to me or to Argon. I mean… I am your Queen. My people’s problem is also mine.”
“Keep your holiness to yourself, you wolfless brat! You and that husband of yours don’t mean me well. If you did, you would have allowed me into the pack this morning to find that beast that killed my child!” I sparked.
But Brielle sighed at my words and said, ” Deron, we would have allowed you in.” She carefully walked to my back, still talking. I didn’t even bother to turn to face her. “But we were looking out for you. The people of Wolf crest hates you for what happened in the past. What if they had attacked you?”
I rolled my eyes at her words, irritated by her innocence.
But just then… “You told them that your daughter is dead, but the real truth is that… you lied.”
My heart skipped in an instant. What did she just say?
“You took your girl to a hospital and faked her death, paid a doctor to take her somewhere far, thinking you could fool everyone. What if that info had gotten to the public? People won’t just attack you for feeding them with a false news, but end you.”
My eyes grew wide at what she said. No one knew about my deal with the doctor. We did the movement in a coded way! How did… How did she know?
“It’s wrong of you, Deron. Let us help you in your situation. Tell me where Estelle is and I’ll help you in giving her the treatment she deserves,” she whispered from behind.
“But it’s fine if you don’t want to tell me a thing. I’ll just relax…” I felt her breathe closer to my neck, breathing down on it. “And attend to the problem on ground, first,” She whispered.
When she made that statement, my wolf sense was immediately triggered! With speed, I forced out my claw and turned around, planning to pin Brielle down to the ground. Only for me to get a knee to the jaw, sending me staggering from her point.
Lifting my head to look at that wretch, I met her staring at me with a smile, chuckling through her lips. “What was that, Deron? An attack? Have you forgotten I’m a pregnant woman? Your Luna for that matter.”
“SHUT UP! I… I know the truth that hides behind that wicked face of yours. I am no fool!” I yelled, cracking my neck carefully, getting ready for anything. “No one knows about my daughter’s movement, except her doctor… And the Ivy, ” I said, shimmering my eyes at her.
She stared at me, faking out a surprise with her hands covering her mouth.
“Don’t give me that fake expression. You know what I’m saying, you brat!”
“Mind your language, Deron,” She uttered, pointing at me. “You attacked me first and that’s wrong of you. Is it because I’m being too nice with you?” She asked, still acting holy. “But fine, if you don’t like this face, it’s best I put on my real face, ” she said, placing her palms against her face.
The moment she swapped her hands down, I saw the same eyes my poor girl has been talking about, beaming straight at me, with a devilish grin appearing on Brielle’s face!
“Green eyes. The Ivy,” I uttered, staring hard at Brielle.
She giggled while dropping her hands down, saying in that same voice that called me this evening, “Since you don’t like Brielle’s sweet face, then you get the real one, you old fool!”
“So… You’re the Ivy,” I uttered, fixing my gaze at the one behind all attacks. I’m still in shock. “The deadly wolf the councils described dangerous and stronger than an Alpha is the same weak orphan that that we all called wolfless? How fascinating!” I laughed out, finding this absolutely hilarious.
“That means we’ve been scared of a useless wolf all these time?!” I cackled out, unable to hold back my laughter.
Brielle didn’t say a thing but just smirked at me. Her eyes… It had no fear, despite seeing the grin across my face.
And just by looking at her, I recalled Jerome’s death, and my poor girl’s vegetable state. It… Ached my heart! “You bloody wretch! You tried to kill my daughter!”
“She would have been dead if you didn’t stress yourself in taking her to the hospital, Oldie. Six feet under the ground, making friends with other dead bodies… That’s where she belongs.”
“You are the one who belongs there! And trust me, I’ll make sure you end up in that ground! You just made a big mistake by coming here, Brielle. You’ve made everything easy for me!”
“You aren’t talking to Brielle but her wolf, Bane, Dummy. And yes, Estelle’s case can come in later because she can’t hide from me forever. But the other problem I’ve been talking about is you, ” She pointed at me with no fear. “You’re my next target on the list. And I’m going to make sure Daddy dearest doesn’t live to protect his baby girl from me. I’ll kill you.”
“Try me!” I roared, charging straight at Brielle with speed and grabbing her by the throat.
I lifted her off the floor to slam that weak body of hers to the ground, only for her to immediately wrap her legs around my neck using my own strength against me.
The force I used, sent me to the ground, giving her the chance to escape my hold. I was about rising from the floor, but my face came in contact with two powerful kick, tossing me back to the ground.
That strength was something! I felt it right in my jaw.
“I hate all these small fights. I want actions! Give me a good fight, old man!” She hopped about in her spot, cracking her bones. Well, that’s what I thought she was doing, until I noticed how her body cracked further, transforming into the same beast that I saw last night!
The shifting formation was horrifying to even gaze at! No wonder their kind was called the abominable. They are hideous!
“All these time we thought Argon’s Luna had no wolf in her. But today, you are standing before me as the demon we’ve been seeking to end, ” I said, getting to my feet, ready for battle.
Brielle or Bane, growled at me, taking her stance.
I smirked when I saw this, saying to her, “Your death will restore my lost glory when I avenge my daughter’s attacker, and also expose you to the world as a monster! I shall take over again!”
“I’d like to see how you do that, Alpha,” She dared me.
Right there, I unleashed my wolf, making a quick transformation. My human body won’t be able to put this monster down, but I trust my wolf. It will do the work.
Bane chortled when she saw me, saying, ” That’s much better. Now, show me what an Alpha can do! You did brag to us that you can take down an Ivy, didn’t you? Now you have that chance!”
“With pleasure!” My claws came out fully, as I dashed right at Bane, getting into a fight.
She was dodging my attacks with ease, while unleashing her fury back at me, which I avoided when I saw how her claw went through a pillar, so clean.
“I need to be careful around those claws,” I noted, jumping right to the top floor when the Ivy almost had my arm in her mouth.
Now, it was time to be serious and put in all my best in taking out this demon. Killing her will go a long way for me. Everyone would see her true colors and side with me again! And Argon… That fool will be my slave!
The Ivy came to meet me right at the top floor, launching punches and numerous attacks at me. I also did my best to avoid those lashes, unleashing my furious side by landing a blow right at the face of Bane.
She didn’t stagger back, but it was clear she felt it. I saw how she touched that part and gave a nasty grin. “Not bad. You’re the first person that has landed a punch on me. But can you make a second?” Her eyes flashed at me. And the moment those green eyes glowed, Bane vanished like the wind!
“Where… Where are you?!” I roared out, looking around to find where that beast had disappeared to.
Suddenly, something passed me from behind, causing me to turn around, only to feel an area at my back aching me. When I placed my hand to check… “Blood?!” I gazed at the blood on my hand!
“What’s the matter, Deron?” The whole mansion echoed with that monster’s voice as I felt another on my chest. “Just a little scratch and you’re already shaking? We are just starting, old man, so you better make that your word true. Show me what an Alpha can do to an Ivy!” Her voice sounded around, leaving me confused.
I could see a figure moving with full speed, but it was hard to tell or calculate the pace in which Bane was traveling in. She was just too fast.
“I can’t match up with her speed, ” I confessed within, just throwing my hands around, hoping to land an attack, but I was the one who was getting brutalized.
From every corners, I could feel her claws digging into my flesh, leaving part of my body bloody.
“SHOW YOURSELF!” I roared, still moving around and trying to fight an invisible force.
Just then, when I turned over, I finally met those green eyes fixed at me, followed by a powerful punch to the face that sent me flying off from the banister and straight to the bottom floor.
I coughed out on feeling that shocking impact, tasting blood in my mouth. That triggered my survival instinct, as I reminded myself of my daughter and the promise I made. “I won’t die until I’ve killed Brielle. She must die! ”
Fired up, I ripped a pillar from its stand without thinking, and launched it at the Ivy, who used a powerful grip to grab the pillar, sending it back at me!
I immediately dodged it by moving out of the way. Only for me to fall into the trap of this beast. It was already waiting, as it had pulled another pillar, slamming me down with it!
I fell hard, making an attempt to rise, only to receive another smash on my head, feeling the shattered pieces of the pillar burying me to the ground.
I thought she was going to stop, but she didn’t. Bane swiftly split another pillar from the building, ignoring the ceiling that was slowly crumbling from the destruction we were making, and smashing it on me.
She repeated this multiple times, until she couldn’t hear me screaming out, unable to move out from the spot she pinned me with the last pillar.
“And he was bragging about being stronger than an Ivy. Just this little stunts and you are already tired. Now it’s clear on where your zombie daughter got her weakness. ”
“Es… Estelle?” I muttered, lifting my head from under the pillar to see that wolf looking down at me with pride.
“Oh, she gave me a nice fight, but her begging was the sweetest. When she cried for forgiveness, I pierced that stomach of hers with one hand and BAM! She had an opening. It was fun to watch,” Bane mocked, demonstrating how she plunged her huge hand into my poor child’s stomach.
That brought back Estelle’s painful gaze, as she cried within, unable to talk to me. And this bastard is using it to joke?! Using my Child to laugh?!
“This place is coming down. Maybe it’s best if you’re buried with your beautiful mansion, ” She said, smirking at me while making her way to the exit.
I was still under the pillar, trying to get myself out, but my body was aching me badly. Suddenly, I picked up the scent of… Of GASOLINE!!
Turning my eyes to the door, I saw that this demon had swiftly sprinkled gasoline outside and inside my home, stepping out with a match in her hand.
“No! No!!” I yelled, forcing the pillar off my body and leaping to reach the door. “Don’t burn it down! DON’T!!”
This mansion is worth a lot of money! I need to sell it to take care of my daughter and start a better life!! But all that didn’t matter to that Ivy, who shut the door from outside, liting my mansion in flames.
“NOOO! ” I screamed when the whole place came up in flames! I tried to break the door down, but I couldn’t. It was hard! Something was blocking it from outside.
Through the window, I saw how that beast stared at me with pleasure, slowly disappearing into the darkness.
“I won’t allow you to kill me, Brielle! I will not die!” Quickly, I gathered my strength and jumped out through the window, saving myself.
When I turned around to look at my mansion, I was shattered. The place I’ve nurtured for years, brought up my child within, was now in flames, falling down to earth.
“My mansion… My money.” I stared at the fire, picturing Brielle and Bane in it. They are the reason behind all my problem!
“You destroyed my reputation, took my title, my daughter’s life… And now you’ve destroyed my home. Don’t worry… This fight isn’t over. ”
I turned back, looking straight at the gate, which was brought down by that Ivy. I could still pick the scent, and I’m going to use it to get her before she heard back to Wolf Crest.
“I’ll make you suffer, Brielle. You are not going anywhere!”
In fury, I howled out to the full moon, dashing into the dark night while sniffing that wretch.
I will chase her down to the end of the world, until I have her head in my hands. Her blood must floor in my palms.
