ARGON
“What do you mean by you don’t know? Find her!” I raised my voice at my guards, sending them out to search for my Luna.
“Where are you, Brielle? Where did you go to?” I panicked, rushing up the stairs to check all the rooms.
The last time I laid my eyes on her was at noon, when she said she was tired and needed to sleep. I calmly agreed to it, since she would be staying indoor, under my watchful eyes, than outside where there’s danger lurking around.
But coming to her room later on, to see how she was doing, I was stunned to find it empty.
Brielle was gone!
“Tania! ” I spotted my Beta stepping out from one of the rooms, looking troubled. “Any luck? ” I asked, drawing closer to her.
She swayed her head with sadness, and said, “No, I didn’t see her.”
“That’s what everyone has been saying! Where did Brielle disappear to?!” I asked, raising my voice again.
And at that moment… RING! RING!! My phone buzzed in my pocket. I thought it was a guard who was calling to tell me he found her, but I was astonished to see the name that popped on my screen. “Brielle!”
She was calling!
Quickly, I answered the phone and began to demand for her whereabouts. “I told you not to leave the mansion! Do you know how worried I was?!”
“Ar… Argon,” She responded in… Tears? “Argon…. Please save me.”
“Brielle?” My heart skipped when I heard that last statement from my Luna. Save her? Is she in danger?!
My mind went to the Ivy wokf, scared that it was after her as well.
“Brielle, what happened? Where are you?!” I asked, getting worried. I could hear her crying at the other end, and it made me scared.
“Please come quickly! Deron… Deron is trying to kill me. He wants to end my life, Argon!”
“Deron?” I uttered, widening my eyes at what she just said.
Brielle cried, begging me to come. And her cries struck me hard, causing me to dash off from where Tania’s point, heading for the entrance while asking Brielle for her location. “Tell me where you are and I’ll be there, please!”
“I just got into the pack from the North gate, but not too far from the entrance. I… I can’t walk properly. I’m bruised, ” she said, sobbing.
Scared, I told her, ” Brielle, stay somewhere safe. I’ll be dear in a flash, trust me.” I drew closer to my car, opening the door. Only to hear Brielle mention Deron once again, saying, “You have to be fast. Deron might find me before you. He is desperate to kill me!”
“Don’t cry, I’m coming, please,” I pleaded, diving into the car and driving out of the premises.
I wanted to keep her on the line and comfort my Luna from her fears, but she was finding it hard to do so. Suddenly, the line began to crack up, and I could hear Brielle saying something like ‘HE’S HERE.’
“Brielle! Please stay out of sight! Brielle! BRIELLE!!” I roared, noticing that she had stopped talking.
“Deron! I will kill that man if he touches her!” I groaned, increasing my speed.
I was gradually driving into the lonely pathway that led to the exact entrance Brielle mentioned, at the same time, I was trying to pick up her scent, so I could locate her immediately.
“Please, be safe,” I muttered under my breathe, moving with speed when suddenly… SCREECH!! I pulled the break of my car on seeing… “BRIELLE!”
She had jumped in front, looking so rough, filthy, and terrified. Her eyes had tears, as she cried out, running closer to the car.
Quickly, I got out and pulled her into my arms, squeezing her close while she was crying. “Argon!” She called bitterly, wrapping her arms around me.
“What happened to you? Why did you leave the mansion?” I asked, cupping her face.
But Brielle didn’t give me an answer. Instead, she grabbed my hand and begged for us to leave at once. “Deron is coming! I managed to escape before he could kill me, and now he’s chasing me!” She trembled, looking back into the dark path ahead of us.
I could read the fear and it made me wonder what that bastard had done before Brielle escaped.
As she wanted, we both got into the car and made a turn, driving through the pathway I came from.
“Why is Deron trying to kill you? ” I asked, curious to know.
That’s when Brielle said, ” After hearing about Estelle’s death, I thought I should see him and pay my condolences, but… He suddenly raged out and tried to kill me! He blamed me for taking away his throne and ruining his business. He wants to kill me and our baby, so you’ll be even with him. He… He has gone mad!”
My body shivered when Brielle said that. I glanced at my Luna, who wrapped her arms across her body in fear, crying softly. “What crime did I commit? Is it now a sin to do what is right for the people?” I was touched. She doesn’t deserve all these treatments.
Now knowing the problem on ground, I decided to take Brielle back to the mansion and handle Deron on my own. But that plan was suddenly disrupted by someone’s presence.
There was a sudden howl that indicated a wolf was around. I wanted take it as a a random person, going through the phase of every wolf when we notice the moon and want howl out to the heavens. But just then…
“ARGON!!” Brielle, screamed, getting my attention to the side where she sat in. Only for me to be shocked to see a mighty werewolf, running side by side with my car, trying to push us out of the road with its strength.
I was shocked when I saw this beast, but immediately recognized it through its voice when it said, bumping into my car again, “You can’t escape me! I will end you!! ”
It was Deron!
My car was beginning to lose control on the road! I managed to increase my speed, moving faster than Deron, just to avoid him from pushing us aside.
All of a sudden, from behind the car, Deron used his strength in tossing my vehicle off the road and into the air!
When we went off the ground, quickly, I grabbed Brielle and dived out of the car with my wolf speed, landing safely into the bushes, just in time to hear my car crashing down.
Brielle was shaking in fear, as she stared at Deron, who was drawing closer to us. Seeing how near he came… “Run,” I ordered Brielle.
“But Argon…”
“Run, Brielle! Don’t worry about me. I’ll handle Deron myself. You just head for safety, please, ” I begged her.
She stared into my eyes with fear and planted a kiss on my lips, begging me, “Don’t let him kill you. ”
“That’s if I don’t kill him first.”
Quickly, Brielle dashed into the forest, looking for a way out, while I turned over to face a furious Deron, who was set to dash after my Luna.
The moment I saw him taking his move, I raced at him with speed, landing a punch on his face. The blow caused him to tumble into another of the bushes, trying to get himself.
“If you think I’m going to stand here and allow you harm my wife, then you’re wrong, Deron!” I took my stance, ready for a fight.
Deron got to his feet, touching his jaw. He glared at me with those red eyes of his and said, “You fool! You don know what you’re doing!”
“I do. And that’s stopping you from destroying my family, you sick bastard.”
What I said struck Deron in the chest, because his face came folding with rage, as he growled at me in fury, taking his position.
“You couldn’t accept the fact that you have lost everything, Deron, that’s why you’re trying to ruin mine. But I won’t allow you to touch a hair on Brielle’s neck. I won’t!”
In a flash, Deron came at me with a powerful kick! I almost avoided it but got hit, sending me into a tree. I could sense the heat of his anger, and how desperate he was to end Brielle.
“In that case…” He stood before me, “You’ll have to die first, before I get that witch of a wife!” I lifted my eyes and saw him springing his claw out, ready to use it on me. “I won’t allow anyone to stand in my way of…”
Before he could finish his statement, I bumped his jaw hard with my head, landing several punches to that ugly face.
He almost did the same to me, but I was more agile than Deron. The old man couldn’t keep up with me, even in his wolf form. And I haven’t unleashed my wolf yet on him, still, I was gaining the upper hand against him.
To show his frustration, he suddenly uprooted a tree and aimed it at my head with force. I was swift to dodge it, only to be slammed to the ground by Deron, who used that as a distraction to get me in his grip.
“You’re a fool for thinking you’re wiser than me! I am stronger than you, Boy!” He flapped me to the ground but didn’t let go. His hand was around my neck, squeezing it tight.
If it was a normal wolf lower than me, I would have easily broken from his grip. But I’m going against an Alpha, who has more experience.
“You lack the skills of a true Alpha! You are worthless!!” He roared, set to thrash me again. That’s when I decided to prove him wrong, by allowing my wolf to take over!
And when my body expanded, shifting into my wolf, Deron lost his grip in an instant, giving me the chance to lash out my fury on him.
Now in our form, battling at each other, Deron still couldn’t keep up with me! I gave him the beating that would hunt him in his next life, leaving him struggling.
He tried to put my head under his hold. I could tell what he was trying to do. He wants to snap my head off from the body. I didn’t give him that chance but grabbed that arm he held me with and snapped it backwards.
Deron roared out in pain, kicking me off from his side.
He was in pain. Deron was losing his battle stance due to my attack!
I saw this as an opportunity to put him down, when suddenly… “ARGH!” I groaned when he came at me with speed. No punches, no bites… But he did something to me.
I lowered my gaze to see a silver dagger piercing into my hip! Deron had that on him and I didn’t know! He used his hand to slam the dagger deeper into my hip, causing me intense pain, and sending me to the floor, forcing me to shift back to my human form at once.
“Silver, one of our weaknesses. I was meant to use that on your demonic wife, but you’ll get that taste before she does, ” He said, kicking my face and sending me face flat.
My lower body was beginning to shake due to the dagger in me. I tried to pull it out, but the pain… It was unbearable.
“If only you had done what was right from the start, we wouldn’t be here fighting each other! ” He yelled at me, kicking my leg.
I was breathing out heavily, feeling the pain traveling around my body. My eyes fell on Deron, who glared at me and said, “I blame your stupidity, Argon. If you had gotten rid of that woman from the start, Jerome wouldn’t be in the cold room, dead! Estelle wouldn’t be battling for her life like a walking corpse! I would still be the Alpha and have my riches, and you…” He drew closer to me. “You wouldn’t have gone through that pain in those months. You would have been with my daughter, starting a family.”
“What are you implying? You’re blaming Brielle over what the goddess had planned when she saw that you and your daughter were nothing but bad news to me?!”
“Our goddess didn’t plan anything like this, you fool! It was all planned by that demonic wife of yours, Brielle!” He shouted.
“You think it was the heaven’s doing? No, Argon. Brielle plotted out our future, from the day she asked you for those three months. She played the victim game to get the job done in a coded way! Your Luna isn’t as pure as you think. If you know her true form, you’ll join hands with me and kill that bitch, ” Deron said, shocking me.
What does he mean by that? Join hands with him in killing my Luna? This was beginning to frighten me.
And it was clear Deron read my body language, because he said next, ” The Ivy wolf you’re searching for, has been under your nose the whole time.”
“What? ”
“Yes, your wife, Brielle… She’s the Ivy. She’s the green-eyed wolf that has been terrorizing us. She’s the monster! ” Deron revealed, sounding serious!
I couldn’t believe a thing he was saying. There’s no way Brielle is an Ivy. “You’re lying! Brielle doesn’t have a wolf!”
“Don’t be stupid, Argon. That’s what she wants you to think! Use your brain! What is she doing out here all by herself with no guards protecting her?! I didn’t call her, but she came over to my place, fought with me, and burnt my mansion down!”
I was stunned hearing this from Deron.
“The councils said the Ivys are strong wolves with a mischievous mind. They will do anything to end those who has offended them. We have offended Brielle in the past, and all of a sudden, Jerome dies, Estelle is half dead… She didn’t kill me but left after setting my place ablaze, because she knows I’m going to come after her. You show up to save her without knowing what really happened… Can’t you see that she has planned for us to die tonight, in each other’s hands? ” Deron pointed out to me.
As my body shook while thinking of what he just said, I thought about my Brielle and all the things she did she for me in the past. It was just hard for me to believe she’s an Ivy. She doesn’t have a wolf. It could be anyone out there, but… But not her.
Deron extended his hand at me and offered, “Join hands with me, Argon. Let’s kill her before she kills us. Two Alphas against one Ivy… We’ll be unstoppable.”
I stared at his hand then at his face. But due to my love for that beautiful soul… “No, ” I turned down Deron’s offer, making him mad.
“Oh, I see. Then in that case…” He pulled out another dagger and launched it at me with speed.
My eyes popped when I saw this. But before he could stab me, something came with speed, stopping Deron from ending my life.
“AHHHH!!” Deron screamed out in pain, at what had attacked him.
Where I was on the floor, looking at the dagger that almost went into my chest, I directed my gaze at the black furry being that sank its teeth into Deron’s arm, preventing him from attacking me.
The eyes froze me in my spot. I couldn’t do anything but shake in fear! The height was enormous like the way the councils described it. And the eyes… It glowed green while darting at me!
This… This is an Ivy. A real Ivy!
And when I stared back into those green eyeballs, I… I noticed something about her gaze. “Bri… Brielle?” I stammered, wondering if what I was seeing was indeed true.
When I mentioned my Luna’s name, I saw the Ivy grin, shocking me next with its move. Right in front of my eyes, the wolf pulled Deron’s arm from its socket, causing the old man to cry out in pain!
His blood sprinkled on my face, as I gazed at a sorrowful Deron falling to the ground, crying.
It was horrible!
Directing my eyes at the wolf standing in my front, spitting the arm out from its mouth, it said, “You aren’t talking to your wife, Argon. The name’s Bane.”
Her green eyes flashed at me.
That attitude immediately reminded me of those times when Brielle would speak to me with authority. I was seeing the same behavior with this wolf! That same fire!
Deron’s groan took my attention away from Bri… I mean Bane. He got to his feet and was trying to run away with his one arm.
Bane didn’t bother to run after him. She just walked up to a terrified Deron and grabbed him from the back neck, stopping him.
I heard Deron crying and begging, “Don’t kill me, Brielle. Please! Consider my age, my child. Do… Do you want me to apologize for all my past deeds? Please, I’ll do it!”
Now I was beginning to fear, watching how he cried bitterly, seeking for mercy. But the one who held him didn’t look moved. She was staring into his eyes, coldly.
That’s when I recalled the council members words. They weren’t wrong about their descriptions. She was huge, her aura was strong, and she was… cold. The scent coming from her was the same one I was trying to trace. The Ivy has been under my nose for long, yet I couldn’t tell that I harbored such a creature in my home.
“Your service won’t be needed any more, Deron. Send my greetings to Jerome. And don’t worry, I’ll send your daughter to you.”
“Mercy! MERCY!!” I heard Deron scream when Bane placed both hands on his head.
And to my horror, she kicked Deron’s chest with force, causing his head to separate from his body!
This planted fright in me, as I began to crawl backwards in horror, shocked with the sudden brutality that just unfolded before my eyes.
When she did this, she tossed the body to the ground and dropped her eyes on me.
There was this sudden chill that engulfed me on seeing those eyes. It made me wish I wasn’t paralyzed from the hips down with this silver dagger plunged into me. I would have made a move by now. But knowing who’s inside that wolf… I couldn’t leave.
The wolf came up to me step by step. And each step It took, slowly mellowed its form. I could see it changing from the mighty black wolf, into my… My Brielle.
She came before me and went on her knees, right next to the side I was stabbed. As she gazed at me with those green eyes, I asked, feeling hurt on learning the truth about her like this, “Are… Are you going to kill me as well?”
She didn’t say anything, but carefully reached for the dagger and pulled it out without any warning.
“SHIT!” I groaned in pain, lowering my head down to the ground while shaking. I still couldn’t feel my lower body because of how Deron forced that weapon into me. I couldn’t feel a thing.
“Seems he did a nice work after all. What a fool,” I heard Brielle laughing at my situation.
Her mockery pierced me deeply, as I looked into her green eyes, seeing nothing but hunger buried within.
She noticed my gaze and said, “Oh, don’t give me those eyes now, Argon. I’m not the one who stabbed you.” She grinned with delight. “You should thank the goddess that I wasn’t the one who sent this silver into your body, because I would have done worse.” She glared, now pointing the dagger at my neck.
“I had so many devious plans for you, but now… I just showed you mercy by using Deron to cause a little damage.”
What she said terrified me. So, if Deron hadn’t harmed me, she would have done something instead?
Gulping down while looking at the knife that was still close to my neck, I asked, “Does that mean you still hate me after my apologies?”
She titled her head, giving no response.
“What… What about all those moments we shared together? The care, the joy… What about our Love for each other?”
“Love?” Her brow lifted at me, tossing the dagger aside and grabbing my throat. I choked when she squeezed it tightly, saying, “Did you think you’re talking to Brielle? It’s still Bane, Argon!” She grinned, squeezing harder.
“You think all those beautiful moments were genuine? It was all part of my plan to get you in my trap and make you suffer the same fate as Brielle.”
“What… Wh…” I stammered, feeling my heart pounding fast.
“Yes, you heard me. When Brielle was crazy about you then, you made fun of her love and left her in pains. She kept wishing for you to love her back one day. And believe me Argon, I had so many plans for you. I wanted you to die the most miserable death ever, but…” She grinned. “You somehow made a spot in this Wolf’s heart, and I don’t want you to go that easily. Bane wants a play toy whenever she’s bored. That’s why I decided to put you in that situation, but an intense one. This time around, you will face that fate, and trust me…” She tossed me to the ground, saying, ” Yours would be worst. You’ll go mad.”
I shivered in my spot, hurt to hear this from my Luna. She cackled out in mockery and said, “Did you really think Brielle loves you? Nah! She doesn’t do that shit any more.”
I lifted my eyes at her and saw her staring back, saying, ” I don’t need Love. I want Vengeance, Argon. And I’ve succeeded in that mission by clearing all bad eggs and trapping my lovely Alpha in my clutches.”
She squatted next to me, smirking out. “But you can only decide what you want, now that you know my identity, husband. Do you want to fight me like Deron or stand by this Abomination? Make your choice.”
“Brielle. I want to talk to my wife, Bane,” I demanded, glaring into those eyes. I had a feeling that this wolf was just saying what she felt like pouring out, but my Luna’s words will tell me her true feelings.
Bane glared at me but did as I requested. She closed her eyes and opened it, revealing Brielle’s brown eyes.
I felt relieved as I managed to take Brielle’s hand, begging her to tell me the truth. “What that Ivy said is a lie, right? You still love me, don’t you?” I asked, caressing her hand.
But instead of the response I wanted, Brielle pulled her hand out of mine and said, “What Bane said is true. I don’t love you, Argon. I only played you so you will fall hard into my trap.”
“No, please tell me this is a lie, ” I begged, trying to touch her. But she didn’t allow me. “You know how we Ivys role. We make our enemies suffer until they are dead. But Bane had given you a choice, Argon. Do you want to fight me now that you know my Identity… Or do you want to stay under my control?” she tabled.
I was stuck. I didn’t know what to choose. On one hand is the Ivy I promised the councils I’d kill, and the other is my wife and unborn child.
I… I just…
“Hmm. Your silence says a lot. Seems you want to fight with me then.”
“No!” I answered, grabbing Brielle’s hands and crying. “I… I don’t want to fight you. I don’t! I love you, Brielle. I want you in my life, please!” I begged, submitting before her.
Just then, she lifted my face with a smile across her face and said, “You have chosen well, my handsome Luna. I’m going to take good care of you, just like your father wanted me to.”
“If… If I please you, will you love me back?” I asked, desperate to make her mine fully.
But Brielle smiled and said, ” Only time will tell.” She carefully locked her lips with mine, kissing me.
I know this feels risky, but I can’t help it. Brielle has a full control over my heart. I can’t fight the love I have for this beauty.
Even if it means I’ll be her slave or her Luna as she called, I… I don’t care.
I want her to be mine forever.
