ARGON
“No result?”
“No, Alpha. Still no result on this creature,” The head officer reported to me over the phone.
Ever since the councils gave us the history of this wolf that took Jerome’s life and tormented Estelle for long, I decided to do what was necessary and find this creature immediately.
But since that day, there has been no link in the investigation. We couldn’t find this Ivy wolf, and the scent was hard to trace unless it strikes somewhere again.
“Alright, do let me know when something new comes up.”
“No problem,” He assured me, before I ended the call.
Lowering my phone down, I took a sigh and lifted my head to see Tania looking at me from the entrance of my study room.
She had showed up to discuss something with me, but I had to place her on hold, so as to conclude my conversation with the officer.
Now that the call was over… “Whats up?” I asked, sitting down on my table.
Tania stepped into the room with a document in her hands, showing me the completed work I gave her to attend to in the morning. “Do let me know what you think, Alpha, ” She said, handing the document to me.
I took it and went through the papers, but my mind wasn’t fully there. I couldn’t stop thinking of the problem on ground, while worrying about the safety of my pack and my home.
“Is everything okay, Alpha?” Tania asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. I lifted my gaze at her and noticed the pure concern within. “Is it about the Ivy wolf? ” She asked.
I sighed out and responded, “Yeah, but… I know everything will work out well. That creature will eventually step out one day to attack, and that’s when we’ll get it before it strikes anyone else.” I nodded my head lightly, lowering my head down a bit.
That’s when I asked Tania, taking my mind to the most important person in my life at this period, “And Brielle? Where is she?”
“Oh, Luna Brielle… She’s in… She’s in her room, sleeping,” Tania answered giving me a smile.
“Sleeping? But what about dinner? ” I asked, wondering why Brielle would head to bed so early.
“She already had something to eat before heading to the room. She’s fine, ” Tania answered.
Despite her answer, I felt Brielle wasn’t doing well. “Is it because of the baby? Is she okay?” I asked those questions, rising from the table while making my way to the door.
Tania followed me, still assuring me that Brielle was fine and all that. But I really felt like checking up on my Luna to know how she was doing.
That’s when my Beta stood in my way and tried to reason with me.” Alpha, you don’t want her getting upset, especially in this her state, do you?”
“But Tania…”
“Let her sleep. If you bother her now, she might get upset with you, and then she’ll start with her mood swings, which would leave you feeling angry with your actions, ” She explained, making a lot of sense.
“You can check up on her later, but for now…” She placed her hand on my shoulder. “Just allow her to sleep. It’s not easy being pregnant.”
“You’re right. I’ll… I’ll leave her to rest,” I agreed with Tania, turning around and returning to the study room with my Beta by my side.
After attending to the pending works on ground within two hours, I decided to go and see Brielle, ignoring Tania’s warning. “I won’t wake her. I’ll just step in and check on her, ” I told myself, heading up the stairs.
Tania wasn’t around to stop me because she had gone to get herself a drink, so that was my opportunity to go and meet my Luna.
When I got to Brielle’s room, I slowly opened the door and stepped into the dark room, only to draw closer to the bed and notice something in the darkness.
The bed… No one was on there!
I immediately turned on the light and discovered it was empty of Brielle. I even went to check her bathroom, but didn’t see her there!
“I thought Tania said she was sleeping? But, where’s Brielle?”
Troubled, I began to panic, as I rushed out of the room to look for my Luna, only for me to see Tania coming.
She’s the one who said Brielle was sleeping. Maybe she’d know where she is. “Tania,” I called, drawing closer to my Beta, who lifted her brow in confusion, asking, ” What’s wrong, Alpha?”
“Brielle… She’s not in her room.”
“You went to check?” She gazed at me in surprise, like I had committed a crime.
But seeing my Luna was missing instead of sleeping like my Beta had said, I asked Tania, “Where is she?” Getting serious.
She lifted her hands and told me to be calm. But I was slowly losing my patience, scared that something bad must have happened in our absence.
Just when I was going to demand for Brielle’s whereabout again, I heard the sound of a door creak open from behind. And on turning around to look, I saw Brielle stepping out of my own bedroom, yawning.
“What’s with all the noise? ” She yawned, stepping out.
“Brielle?” I stared in surprise.
“Luna, we’re sorry. Alpha Argon was looking for you, ” Tania responded, drawing closer to Brielle.
On seeing how tired she looked while rubbing her forehead, I felt guilty for interrupting her sleep.
“My head aches from the noise.”
“We’re sorry,” Tania apologized, carefully holding Brielle close while directing her gaze at me. She was signaling me to draw closer and comfort my Luna, and I did.
“Brielle, I’m sorry. I thought you were missing. I wasn’t expecting to see you here in my room. You… You don’t like coming here to…”
“I felt like changing my environment, that’s why I came here to sleep. I hope that’s fine with you?” She lifted her innocent gaze at me, melting my heart.
How can I be upset with her? My Luna just came out of my room, showing a sign that she needs me closer to her. “It’s fine, dear. I have no problem with you stepping into my room. It’s also yours.”
She smiled, leaning closer for support.
Finally with my Luna, I decided to take her back into my room and put her to sleep, while Tania left us alone.
I helped Brielle into bed, laying next to her. Having her right next to me, bloomed my heart even more.
“She’s showing her readiness to be with me. Now it’s up to me to do what is right and plan a better wedding for the both of us. I want her to see how serious and crazy I am about her.”
.
The following day, I was getting ready to leave the mansion for the company when I noticed Brielle also making her move towards the entrance.
“Where are you going to?” I asked at once, gaining her attention while hovering my gaze on her dress.
She stopped with a smile on her face and said, ” My hair. I need to attend to it.”
“You want to… No, Brielle. I don’t want you going out for now.”
“Why? ” She asked, looking displeased with my order.
“This is for your safety, my love. Look, that wolf is out there, and we don’t know who’s she’s going to attack next. I don’t want anything happening to you, it’s best you stay indoor until this madness is over, okay?”
“But Argon, I’m going to be fine. No wolf will…”
“Brielle,” I interrupted, cupping her face. “Please,” I pleaded with her. She started into my eyes, letting out a sigh. “Fine. As you wish, ” She accepted with a dull face.
“Thank you, ” I appreciated, pecking her on the cheek.
And just when we were settling that matter, Tania came in, looking troubled. “Alpha, it’s best you don’t head out yet, because things are looking ugly,” she said, pulling out a tab to show me something.
And what I saw left me astonished.
It was Alpha Deron on the news, yelling out at the entrance of Wolf Crest, and demanding for the Ivy wolf to step out! “Come out from wherever you’re hiding, you monster! I will rip you into a thousand pieces if I find you! I traced your scent down here and I know you’re hiding in this pack! ”
“Get back!!” The guards at the entrance blocked his path, preventing him from passing.
“Deron? What’s wrong with this man?!” I groaned while trying to understand why he was causing such a scene outside my pack. “Can’t he just sit one place and hide that face of his? Both father and daughter have been shaming themselves up and down. For once he should…”
That’s when my words got stuck when Deron said, “You killed my daughter! You took my Estelle away from me!! My baby girl is dead!! I will find you and make you pay!!”
“What?!” I gasped out in shock, feeling my whole body shaking. “Did he just say Estelle is dead?”
“Oh my goodness!” Brielle gasped out in fear, holding me close.
Tania stopped the video, sharing more light to what happened to Estelle, according to Deron’s words. “She was killed last night by the wolf, and Deron claims he traced the scent down to our pack. But the guards didn’t see anything passing by.”
“This is bad. Estelle is gone? Oh my gosh!” My Luna covered her mouth, feeling sad for my ex-lover.
I also felt sad hearing that Estelle was dead. I never thought she’d be killed as well, and so soon after Jerome’s death. “Just like Jerome, Estelle also saw the wolf. Now she’s gone. Does that mean…” I dropped my eyes on Brielle and Tania, recalling that they both spotted the wolf during my supposed wedding with Estelle.
Goodness! That means the Ivy is coming for both of them!
“Maybe we should go and see Deron and show our condolence to his daughter’s death, ” Brielle suggested. But I immediately objected, making a new rule at once. “Form now on, you are not stepping out of this place, you and Tania.”
“For real?!” Brielle’s eyes popped out lightly at my command.
“Brielle, this is for your safety. That wolf has taken both Jerome and Estelle. They had seen the Ivy, just like you and Tania did! I won’t allow you two to get hurt, most especially you, ” I said, cupping her face.
I could tell she was not happy with this report, but on seeing my fear and concern for her, Brielle accepted my order, embracing me. “Do what you feel is right,” She said, squeezing me lightly.
I stroked her hair, thinking of my next step. “If what Deron said is true, then we have a chance of finding the Ivy. This mansion will have to be heavily guarded. I’ll protect my Brielle no matter what.”
