CHAPTER 148

ESTELLE
Inasmuch as I wanted to make fun of my father for his past bullying on me, I couldn’t bear to see my old man in pains.
We have now become the laughing stock of the entire pack, to the point that no one wants to work with us anymore. I know it has been clear all these while, but what occurred yesterday said a lot.
Yesterday, a special ceremony held by different top business organizations of Red Wood pack, came together for a function. Now, in this gathering, the Alpha is always invited to speak and carry out some important activities, but in this case, my father wasn’t invited.
He had heard about the occasion from a former business partner, who wanted to know if father would be coming, so he’d stay back just in case. But that only surprised my father, who got dressed at once and went down to this venue.
“Why didn’t they inform me?” He had asked, rushing out of the mansion.
I had to follow as well, since I didn’t feel like staying by myself in this boring environment. I joined him and got to the venue, only for us to be sent away like strangers.
“You can’t send me away! I’m the Alpha!” Father had said to the security guards at the entrance. But they didn’t care about father’s title as the Alpha of Red Wood.
They disrespected him and even threatened to get the press to film his humiliation. “Leave this place now. We don’t want anyone disturbing our Luna during this special day, ” One of the security had said, revealing that woman’s presence inside the building.
That ached my father’s heart deeply, leaving him in thoughts since yesterday.
I’ve been trying to get him to put himself together and join me in coming up with a solution, but my old man just stayed in his seat, sulking at his failure.
“Even the council members don’t know what to do. They have gone silent,” He mumbled, staring at nothing in particular.
This made me upset. Our lives is beginning to fall apart. This is not how I visualized our future nor mine! I’m supposed to be in Argon’s arms by now, as his wife. But everything crumbled when he accepted that woman’s wish.
“That was the beginning of our downfall. I knew he shouldn’t have said yes to her that day. If only I could turn back time and correct that mistake,” I grumbled, stamping my fist against the wall.
Taking out my phone, I made an attempt to reach Jerome again for help. I’ve been calling him for long and he keeps on declining my calls. He even sent me a text, warning me to never call or text him again.
“That ungrateful wolf! Now that he’s Argon’s Beta again, he’s showing off. He can eat his help for all I care, ” I raged, dumping my phone on a shelf.
Just then… “Princess?”
“What?!” I responded rudely to a guard, who came to see me.
He bowed a little and said, “Someone is here to see you and the Alpha. He’s someone we know. ”
“Who’s that person?” I asked, lifting my brow in confusion.
Lo and behold, the devil I was just cursing, showed up at my doorstep, looking worried. This surprised me in an instant. “Jerome? What are you doing here?” I questioned the beta, who stepped into my home hurriedly, approaching me.
“Estelle, I’m glad you’re home. Listen, we have to talk, ” He said, standing before me.
“Talk? You want to talk to me? Has the sun risen on the wrong direction or do my ears deceive me? ” I grinned at this amusing request from the proud Beta, who has been using my helplessness to catch fun.
Now he’s here for my help? How interesting.
“Jerome?” I heard father’s voice from the right hand side. Jerome and I looked and saw him stepping out, staring at the beta in surprise. “What are you doing in my home? Have that devilish Luna sent you to shatter my home ?!” Father questioned in anger, ready to pounce on the beta.
But Jerome immediately cleared the misunderstanding, trying to get us to listen to him. “No one sent me here. I came by myself.”
“I doubt that. Seems Brielle sent you to come and trick us, so you’d create another humiliating post of my father and I, ” I accused, glaring at Jerome.
But the Beta assured us once again, that he didn’t come here for that. “Like I said, I came here for something else. I need your help in stopping Brielle.”
What he said got our attention. We looked at each other then back at the Beta, who began to tell us all that has been happening in that mansion. “That woman is a monster. She… She has made me a servant instead of a Beta. I don’t do office works or attend to my Alpha’s task properly, but now I wash, shop, and carry out household duties like a maid,” He shared, sounding scared.
When I heard this, I came out laughing, holding my stomach. Father had a grin on his face, as we both cackled at this fool before us.
“Why are you laughing now? I’m telling you what that woman is doing to me and you’re cackling?”
“And what do you want us to do, huh? You are Wolf Credt’s Beta. If your Luna has ordered you to mop and sweep, then you do it. And here I thought it was a serious matter, ” Father laughed, swaying his head.
But this only increased Jerome’s rage towards us. He groaned and yelled, ” Listen! That woman has Argon wrapped around her finger like some kind of control freak. If she tells him to do this, he will obey. And last night, I saw her instigating Alpha Argon to make that maid the Beta!”
“That annoying maid? Brielle wants to make her the Beta in Jerome’s place? How strong is her hold on Argon?” This surprised me.
Jerome went on to discuss his fear, believing that Brielle was attacking him because of what he did to her. “She’s getting back at me for my crimes. But I can’t allow her to ruin my life, that’s why I’m here seeking for your help, ” He pleaded.
“I need you to help me in bringing Brielle down once and for all. I can’t stand that woman any more.”
“You think we enjoy her presence too? ” I questioned Jerome, frowning at him. “You saw what she did. She made my father a joke before his own people. Now they both share a throne like siblings!” I pointed out.
Father then added, ” You and Argon caused my bankruptcy, Beta. You tricked me into giving out goods worth millions, for free. I see no reason why we should help you after what you and your Alpha did.”
“You are getting it all wrong here. Alpha Argon and I didn’t cause this. The main culprit is that Brielle!” Jerome revealed.
Father and I didn’t want to believe Jerome, not until the beta narrated how Brielle orchestrated the plan, getting Argon to be a pawn in it.
“He was going to give you back your papers peacefully, but Brielle stopped him and came up with all those plans that ruined your reputation.”
“What?” I gasped out, stunned to hear this information.
Father was shocked the most. He gritted his teeth in anger and said, tightening his hands into a fist, “That brat! I should have noticed this that day at my company. I thought it was my mind that was playing a game when she dared to drag me like a dog in front of the press! She has finally grown wings to challenge us!”
“That wretch! I feel like strangling her! ” I groaned, squeezing my hands in anger.
“Now you know the truth. Alpha Argon is just a pawn in her web. The poor man is now trapped , drooling over that woman, who doesn’t know if she wants to be with him or not.”
“Really?” This amused me more.
Jerome told us something we didn’t know. A hidden secret behind Argon and Brielle’s coming together. “My Alpha is still struggling to win that woman’s heart, but she isn’t giving him any sign. She keeps telling him to give her more time to think, ” He scoffed, sharing this news.
Though we were stunned to hear this gist, we became so delighted, as father and I suddenly had an idea to revive our lost glory.
“Argon is still trying to get that woman’s heart, but if we make him see her as unworthy of his love, Estelle can step in and take what is rightfully hers, ” Father planned, getting excited.
It’s just as I plotted in my head. Make myself available when Brielle isn’t. “I just need to make Argon see me as one who cares about him. But it might not be easy.”
“That’s why I’m here,” Jerome said, stepping closer. “I don’t know how far we will go with this plan, but I am ready to give it my all and make sure my position isn’t taken by a maid. We must take Brielle out no matter what,” Jerome said, putting his hand out for us to join in.
With this new found fire burning inside us, we placed hands together, sealing our deal as a team again.
“Anything to get my Argon back, ” I said with a smile.
.
The next day, I didn’t hesitate to start the game. I went to my closest and wore the best and most sexiest dress there. Then, I got myself ready to leave, after getting my father’s blessings.
“Go well, my child, ” He had wished me.
I took one of the cars and left, driving down to Wolf Crest. All I prayed for while driving down into the pack, was for the people not to recognize me. The last thing I want is an angry mob, targeting my car with stones or their claws. I am not ready for that.
But luckily, I arrived at the company and drove into the premises without much problem with the security guards. They didn’t argue with me, because the person they had called, gave me permission to step in. And that was Jerome.
“You can do this, Estelle,” I encouraged myself, cat walking into the building, like the true model I was.
Most of the workers gazed at my beauty, recognizing the most beautiful model, who was robbed of her crown by that wretch. I could hear them mumbling something while I walked pass them, but I didn’t give a damn about it. My target was Argon. He’s the one I came to see.
I got into the lift and arrived at the last floor, where I came out to meet Argon and Jerome, standing outside the lift. What a coincidence! They were just about to step in.
When Argon looked and saw me, his eyes came wide immediately. “Estelle?” He called my name, staring in shock.
“Hey, ” I uttered with a light smile, playing the innocent game.
When Jerome saw this, he secretly returned back to his office, leaving Argon and I alone. Argon didn’t even know that his Beta had left. He just kept on staring at me in confusion, questioning with a narrowed brow, “What are you doing here?”
“I came to talk, ” I said, walking out of the lift.
Argon couldn’t speak fast, as his eyes kept falling on my body then at my face. He was trying to keep those googly eyes up, but it was hard.
I knew he couldn’t resist me. I still have the charm.
“Talk to me about what? ” He asked, hovering his eyes about, so he wouldn’t keep them on me.
Seeing how confused he was getting after gazing at my beautiful figure, I began to act so pitiful, joining my hands together and seeking for mercy. “Argon, I know no amount of sorry I say to you will change what has happened, but I plead with you to forgive my father and I for all the pains we caused,” I said, lowering my head down.
“I can say the goddess is punishing me and my father for all our wrong doings, but mostly me.” I lifted my eyes at him, letting glittering tears to well inside, so Argon would think I’m repentant.
“I thought you didn’t love our baby, that’s why I did what would please you. But when I remember the pains in your eyes over my doings, I can’t help but curse myself for hurting you.” I sobbed out, faking tears.
Looking at Argon, I noticed his anger had subsidized. He just stayed and listened, still struggling not to gawk at my gorgeous body too much.
That’s when I took hold of his hands and said, “I’m not asking for a second chance, Argon. All I want is your forgiveness. If you can just have mercy on my father and I, we will leave your life and never return. Please.”
I held him close, slowly burying myself on him. He couldn’t push me back or fight me off. Argon fell weak instantly.
“Estelle, can you let go? ” He said, sounding unsure of his own words.
But I didn’t. I acted like one who was brokenhearted, slowly running my hands on his body, before… DING! The sound of the lift came open from behind.
When I lifted my head to look at Argon’s face, I noticed he had turned surprised, pushing me aside.
His quick action sent me facing the lift, just to find Brielle there. She had her eyes on me, smiling.
I thought Jerome said she no longer comes to the company? Why is she here?
“Brielle, you are here? ” Argon uttered, drawing closer to his Luna. She didn’t say anything but still kept her gaze on me.
Is she trying to scare me or what? Well if that’s what she’s doing, then it’s not working.
I was expecting Brielle to get angry on seeing me, but she just grinned and said, “Estelle, it’s so nice to see you again. What brings you to this place?”
She’s crazy if she thinks I’m buying that. But just to play along, I said, placing my hands together like earlier, “I came to ask for you and Argon’s forgiveness. But… I’ll be leaving now.”
I took one more look at Argon, before going through the lift, exiting that floor.
She may not see it, but I know that I’ve ignited an old spark in Argon’s heart. Let’s see how far it will go.
