JEROME
Hell, that’s what I call my new life at the mansion. It’s like I don’t know what my job as a beta is anymore.
Ever since Brielle delivered that threat, I’ve been serving her like a man-servant, not a Beta. Alpha Argon even backed her up whenever she called me to carry out a task for her.
The other day she told me to take her clothes outside and wash them. I was shocked to the core. I mean… I’m a man! A Beta for that matter, and a woman was controlling me like I’m a beggar in desperate need of money, to wash some dirty clothes.
Instead of Alpha Argon to step in and tell her to stop her nonsense, his love for Brielle blinded him into agreeing with her.
“Do as she says. I don’t want to hear any complain that you didn’t obey her orders or else…” He had warned, following Brielle like a fly.
Since then, I’ve been deprived of sleep or the freedom to step out and do what I want like before. I became a prisoner in this mansion, and it’s all because of that woman.
And now, here I am at the market, shopping for more food stuffs to fill the store room. Brielle didn’t allow me to carry any guard or maid for assistance. “You’re a man. All those loads won’t be hard for you, ” She had said before handing the list over to me.
Did she look at what she asked me to buy before comparing my strength to it? It’s like I’m buying half of the store and she says I can do it alone?! “Damn her!” I groaned while shopping.
Worst, some men who had seen me carrying shopping bags, couldn’t hold back their laughter. They were watching how I shopped like a woman, making me feel humiliated.
“This is all Brielle’s doing. She’s trying to get back at me for trying to frame her at the office that time,” I believed, taking the goods to the register.
“If I want this torment to end, I just need to prove to Alpha Argon that I respect Brielle a lot, since that’s what she’s looking for. Then he’d take pity on me and tell her to stop. Yes, that should work, ” I planned, paying the goods and making my exit through the door.
When I arrived back at the mansion, I immediately buried my frustration, replacing it with a smile, just to show my so-called care for Brielle.
She was already outside the mansion when I drove into the premises. She sat in the garden, going through her phone quietly.
“Just do it. Soon, all this madness will end and you’ll be able to breath again,” I said to myself, approaching Brielle.
She still kept her eyes on her phone, until she heard me greeting her. “How have you been, Luna?” I asked, bowing lightly before her.
“Luna? Now that’s much better, ” She said, getting existed with my manner of approach. Seems like it’s going well just as I suspected.
Proceeding with this fake respect towards Brielle, I told her about my shopping and how I was able to get everything she listed down. “It wasn’t easy, but I succeeded, ” I said, smiling at her while pointing at my car.
She took a glance at the vehicle then back at me, asking, “Did you hit your head at the store or what? As far as I remember, you left this mansion in a bad mood and now you’re all jovial. Oh, did you meet your girlfriend there?” She chuckled, dropping her phone down.
I smiled and said, ” Maybe I did hit my head on something, Luna. You see, I thought about everything you said and felt different. Like, why am I being stubborn? This is my Alpha’s Luna. I shouldn’t be disrespecting her but giving her all the respect she truly deserves.”
“Hmm! I like where this is going.” She crossed her arms, grinning at me.
One can’t tell if she’s mocking me or actually buying my nonsense, but I just went with the flow, promising to be the best Beta to her. “You have my word, Luna. I will serve you till the end. That’s an assurance,” I vowed. No, I fake-vowed. That’s much better.
Brielle kept smiling at my new found devotion towards her, that she didn’t hesitate to clap her hands at me, saying, “I am proud of you, Jerome.”
“Oh, thank you, Luna.” I bowed.
“Keep up the good work, and maybe you might get something nice in return,” She said, rising to her feet, walking pass me.
“Something nice in return? Could it be my freedom? She sounded so serious with that statement, ” I pondered on, having a good feeling that she’d do something that would favor me.
“Let’s see then. I’ll keep up with this drama and see where it leads me to. Hmm, something nice.”
Soon, I went into the mansion with the items I got from the store, with the assistance of some maids. I started my angelic deeds around Brielle, so that Alpha Argon can see me at work.
He was beginning to calm his temper around me, talking and assigning tasks to me like before.
I no longer frowned at the works Brielle gave to me. Even when I’m supposed to be at the company, she would make me do some chores around like a servant. Still, I didn’t complain, I was obedient all through.
Slowly, my obedience began to pay off. One evening, Brielle invited me to the dining to join them for dinner. I can’t remember when last I sat with my Alpha to eat. It felt like years to me.
With delight, I accepted the invitation, sitting with them while joining them in their conversations.
While we were talking and laughing at some things, Brielle called my attention at once. “Tomorrow I’ll be heading down to Red Wood pack to attend a special ceremony. A group of organizations have invited me, since I’m the Luna,” She shared.
“That’s wonderful,” Alpha Argon commented, smiling at his Luna.
I had to also comment so they won’t think I don’t care. “What a great news, Luna. I’m happy for your success.”
“Thank you, Beta. Now, I’ll be needing you to follow me down there to help out with some work. I hope you’ll be free? ” She asked, taking in a spoon of her meal.
When I heard what she said, I felt happy. Not the part that she’s inviting me over, but the question. ‘I hope you’ll be free?’ Do you know what it sounds like? Freedom.
“Oh, I’ll be at the company attending to an urgent work. Alpha Argon will be holding a meeting with his partners. It’s important for me to get everything set for them, ” I said, swaying my head with sadness on my face.
“Oh, I see. Then it’s fine. I’ll just leave with Tania then, ” She decided, eating her food.
This felt like a dream come true to me. She didn’t demand or order me to change my mind. She’s fine with what I said. Marvelous! I can indeed see the progress of my work.
“Brielle, if you need Jerome, then he can go with you, ” Alpha Argon said, offering me as a sacrifice.
I almost objected to what he said, planning on talking about Sir Derek and his business partners, but Brielle intervened. “It’s nothing serious, Argon. I just felt like taking him along. But if he needs to help you with your meeting, then I’m fine with that, ” She said, placing hands with my Alpha’s.
And that touch was enough to bring a glow to his face. He just accepted her wish like it’s a spell.
“And he wants me to spend a whole day with this woman at Red Wood pack? Hell no!” I rolled my eyes, eating my food.
RING! RING!!
“Isn’t that your phone, Jerome?” Alpha Argon asked, gaining my attention. I even forgot my own ringtone out of absentmindedness. The phone was just in front of me and I didn’t hear it.
“Oh, sorry, ” I apologized, taking it into my hold to see who was calling. On setting my eyes on the name that popped on the scream, my heart skipped. “What the hell?!” I mumbled.
“What’s the problem?” Brielle asked, noticing the daze on my face. “Is there a problem?” She asked.
“No, not at all. It’s just an alarm, ” I lied, declining the call quickly and putting my phone in silence.
They both bought it and kept on with their meal, while I slowly ate mine, staring at the silent phone that was still ringing.
It was that witch that calls herself Estelle! Was she sent by the dark load to ruin my life? Geez! “I’ve worked so hard to get to this point, so don’t try and ruin things for me!” I carefully placed my phone in my pocket, eating.
.
When the next day came, I gladly followed Alpha Argon to the company to prepare for his meeting with his partners.
The arrangement wasn’t that serious. Just to get the conference room set, arrange the tables with nice refreshments, and that’s that. I only made it look so important in front of Brielle, so she won’t take me.
When the meeting started, I stood beside my Alpha, watching how he handled it like a professional, making plans for their next project.
But the meeting was suddenly cut halfway by Sir Derek, who asked, “How is Brielle doing by the way? It’s been long she came down to the company to work with us.”
“Oh, she’s fine. Now that she’s the Luna of Red Wood pack, well half of the pack, she has gotten herself occupied with so many activities,” Alpha Argon responded.
Another then said, ” She’s a fine woman, son. A woman with a big heart.”
“Yes, I heard she was heading to the pack to attend a ceremony. That venue is now crowded because of her.”
“Is that so?” Alpha Argon smiled, sitting down to listen to them.
The main reason for this meeting was immediately buried, as they all talked about Brielle like she’s some celebrity.
I thought I could brush her matter off and think of my freedom from her clutches, not until Sir Derek turned on his laptop and said, turning the system around, ” Look at the great work she’s doing there.”
I looked and saw Brielle on stage with Tania by her side. Those two captivated the attentions of the people with not only their presences, but their dressing.
Brielle wore a black suit with green tie, looking like one who just came back from her company, and as for that maid… What is she wearing?
“Is that a suit?” I was surprised.
That maid no longer looked like a maid. She was looking like Brielle’s body guard, more like her assistant.
That’s when Sir Derek said something that made my heart skip in fear. “The lady with Brielle… Um… Tania right?”
“Yes, her name is Tania, ” Alpha Argon answered.
“Yes, Tania, thank you. Is she your Luna’s Beta or what’s her position in your home? I know I always see her with Brielle. They are so close, just like you and Jerome,” Sir Derek said, pointing at me.
What he said made me uncomfortable. “What’s he saying now? Is he comparing that maid to me?” I dimmed my eyes with displeasure.
“Um… Tania is Brielle’s personal maid and her friend. She’s not her beta, ” Alpha Argon said.
“Nonsense, boy. Who will look at this woman and call her a maid? She fits the role of a Beta,” Sir Derek pointed out, getting the others to side with him.
“Yes, he’s right. She doesn’t look like a maid. Look at the composure, the dressing. I bet she’s smart like your Beta,” Another added, pointing at my direction.
What is wrong with this men?! She’s a maid for heaven’s sake!
But it seems Alpha Argon wasn’t thinking outside what his partners were hinting at. He was pondering on it.
“Tania is nothing like me. I’m a smart and intelligent man with so much work experience upstairs,” I bragged out, pointing at my head.
They looked at me and began to mumble about this topic Sir Derek started. Even Alpha Argon couldn’t talk but stare.
“Yes, we know she’s the Luna’s maid, but that doesn’t mean she’s like Beta Jerome.”
“We’re just saying she might be smart like him. Just look at that beauty.”
They argued on for some time, until they bounced back to the main work and left.
“Even at work we’re talking about that woman. Now they have included that maid? How childish of this men.”
Alpha Argon soon left the company for the mansion, while I stayed back to attend to any other pending work, laughing over the silliness of those old men. “Female Beta. They need to stop joking around,” I cackled.
When my work was over, I drove down to the mansion, preparing to resume with my slavery, only to be welcomed by a shocking scenario.
Right in the living room, Alpha Argon was showing Tania some office documents, testing her skills. And from the looks on his face, I could tell that this maid has already begun to impress him!
“Waw, that’s correct.”
“Thank you, Alpha, ” Tania appreciated with a smile.
This can’t be happening. Is he taking this into consideration? No, he can’t be thinking of making her a beta as well!
“I can see you’re back, Jerome,” Brielle’s voice came from my left side. There was this cold chill that ran across my body when she spoke.
I slowly directed my eyes at her and found her looking straight at Alpha Argon and Tania with a smirk. “Admiring the soon to be Beta right?”
“What?” I uttered, glancing back at Tania, who was diving into another document, pointing out errors.
“Aren’t those the documents Argon gave you to handle four days ago? Damn! So many errors. It’s good that Tania is here to point them out, ” She hissed, swaying her head.
I kept watching with fear, seeing how my Alpha smiled at that maid, applauding her intelligence.
“Seems you’ll be having a partner soon, Jerome. Or wait… Maybe she’ll be taking your position instead. I mean, she has all that quality. But you…” She faced my point, grinning out.
She didn’t complete her statment but walked into the living room joining Alpha Argon in praising Tania.
“No, she’s lying. But I’ve been serving them without disobeying Brielle’s rules. They can’t give my position to a maid. No!” I stared, feeling my whole body heating up.
Not my position!
Not my title!
