JEROME
“Just stay here until it dies down. Don’t go anywhere for now.” I drank from the glass of water in my hold, roaming behind the mansion.
After what happened, my body has been unable to relax. I had to sneak out of the mansion and head to the back here, just to calm myself before I faint from fear.
I can’t get over the fact that Brielle made me a stepping stone in a flash, almost sending me out of the mansion with ease. If I hadn’t thought about that idea, Alpha Argon would have thrown me out for sure.
Not just that… “She just agreed with what I said and told him to forgive me? Seems she also bought my lies. Yes, that’s the only explanation to that sudden move,” I believed, gulping all the remaining water in one goal.
“I bet she couldn’t say anything and just accepted defeat. Tsk! How funny. She thought she could send me away, forgetting that I’m the Beta.”
“A Beta who thinks he has the power to do as he likes, isn’t that right?” Fear gripped me on hearing a familiar voice right behind.
I immediately turned and found Brielle standing next to me. Her arms crossed and her lips spreading into a large grin. She tilted her head to the side and asked, “Why did you stop talking, great Beta? No one said you should pause.”
“Bri… Brielle,” I stammered her name out, feeling my whole body shaking. The aura coming from her body sent chills down my spine. I couldn’t tell why I was getting scared from within, but I assumed it’s because of the way she tackled me inside the mansion.
She chuckled at my sudden fear, drawing closer to me. “You poor soul. Don’t tell me you’re afraid of that little joke I made in there. I was only testing your loyalty to your Alpha…” She stood by my side and added, “And to your Luna.”
I directed my eyes at Brielle, noticing how her smile faded into seriousness.
Did she call that stunt she pulled a joke? Who grabs someone from the neck, pins them down and forces them to kneel, a joke? Not just that, she almost got me kicked out, and she thinks it’s funny?!
My heart was beating with so much anger towards this woman. I wanted to say some words to slam her for testing me in that manner, only for me to feel my arm being grabbed by Brielle, who tightened her grip around and pulled me closer, stunning me in my spot.
She gave me the nastiest glare I’ve ever seen, saying coldly, “Just that tiny joke and you want to pee your pants? Are you really a Beta? No, you’re more of a Whip, a loser, a fallen jackass with no bone.”
“Let… Let go at once,” I said, getting uncomfortable with her words. But whenever I pulled, her grip grew tighter around my arms, sending some kind of painful wave into my body.
How is she this strong? Not even that, why am I unable to pull out from her hold?
Surprisingly, Brielle tossed me towards the wall, shocking me with her action. She brought up my so-called girlfriend and said, “Argon may be silly to fall for your words because you go about portraying a righteous Beta, but I am not like him. I have real eyes, not fake ones.”
Dropping my eyes on Brielle, who suddenly brought out her phone and showed me a video of Estelle and I arguing outside, I became horrified by what I saw. She really was there, taking record of what was going on.
Shit! Estelle’s face is showing fully. She got a clear record of our faces! This is bad for me!
“Girlfriend indeed. You two sure make a nice couple, don’t you think, Jerome?” She mocked, giggling at me. I stared at a delighted Brielle, who kept playing the record to me with so much joy in her voice.
“You have this video, but you didn’t show the Alpha… Why? You would have used this to prove I was lying and get me kicked out, but you didn’t. Why did you spare me? ” I asked, curious to know her reason.
She has something strong against me, but she didn’t use it. What is she up to?
That’s when Brielle grinned at me and said, ” If I wanted to get you kicked out, I wouldn’t have allowed Argon to take you back in the first place. But how will that please me?”
“Please you? What do you mean?” This was beginning to feel weird.
Carefully keeping her phone, she said, ” We both know our differences, Jerome. You’re a man, I’m a woman. You’re the Beta, and I was the Luna, then Ex-Luna, and now ‘The Luna.” She laughed at her own words, swaying her head.
” Everyone knows that the Alpha is the head, the Luna comes next, because she’s a She-Alpha to the pack, and then we have the Beta, who is the second to the Alpha but still below the Luna. But within those two Luna phases , I realized that you, Mr Beta, have always seen me like one you could trample on. Somebody who doesn’t deserve respect or attention. You took me for a nobody. And what brought that nonsense attitude? Your pride and ego,” She pointed out.
What is she saying? I never saw her as a nobody. So what if I did as my Alpha wanted me to do then? At least I could boldly look at her and say she exists. She’s just saying rubbish.
“I’ve been taking note of all these things, Jerome, and trust me…” Again, her smiles vanished, replaced with her cold emotionless gaze. She stretches out her hand and grabs my shirt, pulling me closer to her face a bit, saying, “I’m going to make sure you learn how to respect your Luna. I control your life, your future, and your destiny, now.”
What the hell?
“If you think because I’m a woman, you can just act anyhow and get away with it, then think about that little drama that occurred inside the mansion today. If that little scenario could make you sweat, what can a medium drama do? Or how about a big drama, huh? ” She giggled like a psychopath, tightening her grip on my shirt.
To stare into her eyes creeped me even more. I tried to pull myself out of her grip, but it was useless.
“This is like a test, Jerome. In front of Argon, you act like you respect me, but let’s see how you truly respect me when he’s not around. The same attention you were giving to Estelle when she wasn’t even a Luna, you’ll give times ten to me. And if you fail to do so, you crumble and crawl back to the hole where you came out from, you slum, ” She ordered, pushing me to the wall roughly.
I gasped out, feeling troubled.
Brielle smiled at me after her threat and said, ” I’m sure you can do it. After all, you are so loyal to your Alpha and Luna. So, be a good man, okay? ” She began to laugh, walking back into the mansion through the back door.
Once she was out of sight, I felt life returning back to me again. I could breath at last.
“That woman! What games is she playing now? She’s threatening me, a beta? ” This is shocking. I have never seen such a thing in my life before. And it’s not coming from no other person but Brielle?
“Just because she played this trick with me doesn’t mean I’ll allow her to attack me the second time. No, I’m the Beta!” I boldly reminded myself, refusing to be used liked a rug by her.
And I was about to put that into practice when I stepped into the mansion after some minutes of yelling.
I walked into the living room and met Brielle filing her nails while sitting on the couch. She immediately spotted me before I could turn and leave, and dared to send me on an errand. “The maids don’t have much ingredients in that kitchen and I want them to make me something nice for tonight. Now, you are going to head down to the store and buy all they need and come back here within Thirty minutes. Now move,” She commanded, waving her hand at me.
Instead of obeying, I said, “Listen Brielle, I am the Beta of this pack. You as a woman should be doing all that work, not me!”
“Is that so?” She asked, smirking without looking.
Just when I was about to speak, a hand grabbed me from the neck behind and slammed me against the wall. On lifting my head to see who it was, I was frozen at once.
“Al… Alpha?”
“What did you just say? Did you just disrespect my Luna by calling her name?!” He roared, grabbing my collars.
I shivered before Alpha Argon, denying my action. “No, I… I didn’t do such a thing. I was…”
“Shut up! I heard what you said! ” He slammed, silencing me at once. “She sent you to work and you dare to call her a maid? Are you blind? Have you forgotten that she’s superior to you?!”
“I didn’t mean it that way, Alpha. I was just explaining some…”
“I said shut up!” He yelled again, tossing me towards Brielle’s side and ordering me to apologize to her. “If you don’t, you’ll be out that door in no time. Now speak!”
Where I was, at this woman’s feet again, I lifted my eyes to see a proud Brielle smiling at me like a saint. With bitterness and fear in me, I bowed at her, seeking for her mercy. “I didn’t mean it that way. I was just talking about the maids in the kitchen.”
“Whatever. Just head down to the store and get the necessary ingredients. Tonight’s dinner won’t make itself,” She said, sending me away.
In tremble, I hurried out of the room to carry out the task. I wasn’t expecting Alpha Argon to appear there. He almost killed me.
“Jerome, you have to be careful with that woman. Any small mistake and you’re out, ” I told myself, shivering behind the wheels.
“Just in one day and she has placed me in Alpha Argon’s black list. The little bond I was having with my Alpha is breaking apart because of her. I can’t do anything against her or she’ll attack again.”
I was scared, recalling what she had said at the back of the mansion. “No, I have to be careful. I don’t want to find out how her big attack will be. I just don’t want to know.”
I drove off.
