JEROME
“I’m… sorry for that,” Estelle struggled out, secretly tightening her hand into a fist.
I saw it but acted like I didn’t. Her frustration is now my medicine. I will enjoy watching her beg for my help, until she has no strength left in her.
It’s my time to sign.
“Your lateness can be ignored, but can we talk? I really need your help, Jerome,” She said, drawing closer to me.
“Hold it!” Quickly, I placed out my palm, stopping her in her track. She immediately halted, looking a bit confused. Then with pride, I said, ” If you want to talk to me, then do it far away, not near. I hate when someone invades my personal space.” I wiped the sleeve of my shirt, showing off myself to a helpless Estelle.
When I looked at her face, I saw bitterness written all over it. If not for the fact that she needs my help badly, I’m sure she would have launched her claws at my face to express her frustration. But now, she’s as helpless as a puppy. Just useless.
“Okay, ” She obeyed, taking in a deep breathe and drawing away from my point.
Once the space between us was enough, I gave her the go ahead to speak, waving my ha d sluggishly at her. “What kind of help are you looking for now?” I asked.
“Argon… I need your help in getting back into my Argon’s life. I know it’s going to be hard, but there has to be a way to get him to look at me like before and…”
“Estelle, just hold it right there,” I shunned her halfway, scoffing at this request of hers. “Can you hear yourself? You are asking me to help you get back into my Alpha’s life? ”
“Yes, that’s what I said. Look, I know it’s going to be tough, but surely there’s a way for me. If you could get him to accept you after your betrayal, then he can do the same with me. Come on, Jerome, I need your help real quick, otherwise, I might lose a lot,” She pleaded, drawing closer again.
Quickly, I drew back, chuckling at her silly requests. “You are making me laugh here, Princess. You think there’s a way back into Alpha Argon’s life? No, you are wrong. There’s no freaky way into that man’s heart any more. That place is a no go area for you now. He will burn you completely to nothing if you dare him.”
“I did it before!” She raised, trying to prove a point by talking about her past relationship with my Alpha. “When Argon and I first met, I was able to get him to fall for me in split seconds. If I could do it then, so repeating it won’t be an issue. All I ask from you is your assistance in getting closer to him. Just… Just… Remind him of the past and all the beautiful moments I shared with him. I know for a fact that he still has a place for me in his heart. Once that love revives, he’ll come crawling into my arms.”
“Oh, just shut it! ” I sparked, getting irritated with her stupid plan. This made Estelle offended when I shunned her, leaving her face swollen in anger.
“Look here, Estelle. If you think that Alpha Argon is still the man you used to date back then, then you’re completely wrong. The man in that mansion is no longer the Argon you used to know. He has changed completely into something else.”
“You’re making it sound like an evolution or something. What’s so different about him? Is it just because he’s siding with that brat and seeing her as his true Luna?” She asked, glaring at me.
I just scoffed, swaying my head at her. “You’re indeed blind to see it with your own eyes.”
“Jerome! Mind how you speak to…”
“I will speak the truth, because you have decided to hide behind what is right and remain in your mad zone, ” I said, pointing out.
Estelle gasped, unable to retaliate.
“I shouldn’t be telling you this, since you don’t want to step out of that bubble you placed yourself in. But since you insist, then fine. Listen carefully, Princess… That heart you once held close has been given to Brielle. Argon has surrendered his whole heart and soul to his Luna. He loves her like crazy.”
“Stop saying he has surrendered himself to her, Beta! The… The divorce paper is still there! He signed it and Brielle will soon…”
“You’re the dumbest wolf I’ve ever seen, honestly speaking,” I confessed, feeling sorry for Estelle.
“Are you mad? Who did you call dumb?!” She sparked, getting vexed.
But I wasn’t frightened by her wolf eyes she flashed at me, or by her anger. She is no longer powerful. Even my title has a higher ground more than hers.
Pointing at her head, I went on talking, making it clear to her that she stands no chance in getting Argon back. “The divorce papers you’re talking about, has been torn into a million pieces by my Alpha.”
“What?” She gasped stunned by what I said.
“Yes, you heard me right. Your sweetheart destroyed the papers to be with Brielle. He loves her so much, to the point of obeying her every words like a dog to its Master. So, you have no chance in winning him back. If Brielle wants him to end you…” I paused, chuckling out.
That was enough to tell her the complete side. It even made Estelle shiver. She didn’t like what she was hearing. “No, my Argon… I’m the only one for him.”
“That’s old school. It’s best you go and sit in the dark and forget you ever knew him,” I advised mockingly, set to leave this miserable woman alone.
But Estelle wasn’t satisfied. She stood in my way, still begging me for help!
“Are you out of your mind? I told you that you can’t get any help to from me! What part of that don’t you understand?!” I yelled at Estelle, set to pull her out of my way.
That’s when this useless woman brought up our problem which hasn’t been attended to for some time now. “You know we both share an issue, Jerome, right?” She reminded me. “The green-eyed wolf, remember? If we can work together to prove that the creature is real, Argon might have a soft spot for me and…”
“Now listen here…” I grabbed her by the arm, dragging her out of my path and saying, “That beast isn’t my problem but yours alone.”
“What do you mean by that? Have you forgotten we were attacked by that creature?”
“I haven’t forgotten, Estelle. And I can calmly say that since that day we ended our so-called partnership, I haven’t been seeing that monster. This only shows that Alpha Argon was right.”
“Argon? What did he say?” She became curious, wondering what he had told me.
I didn’t hide it from her. I wanted her to hear and sulk in her own mess. “That wolf is a rival pack who’s fighting you and your father for something bad your father has done. I only became a victim because you two dragged me in your dirty scheme, that’s why the beast took me as an enemy. But from now on, you are on your own. I won’t help you or your father in any plans. Face them yourself.”
“Wait, you can’t say that! Wait! ” She yelled, trying to stop me from leaving. But I didn’t listen to her.
“I command you to stop! I say stop, you animal!”
“You can’t control me, Estelle. As long as Luna Brielle has half right of your father’s throne, you are nothing before me, ” I downgraded her at once, leaving her shunned.
She felt that blast but didn’t know how to release hers back. Her eyes were turning red in rage, before she stormed to her car, got in, and drove off.
“Shameless. Look at how she’s begging,” I laughed, getting into my vehicle and driving back to the mansion.
When I arrived and stepped into the mansion… “That’s one swift ride to the company, Beta,” A familiar voice said from the corner, frightening me.
I turned around and found Luna Brielle leaning against the wall, close to the door of the mansion. How come I didn’t notice her?
“Oh Luna, I didn’t see you there. How are you?” I greeted, bowing at her.
She didn’t respond to my greetings, but kept on staring at me. Her face expression showed no specific emotion. It just looked bland.
There was a brief silence between us, before I cleared my throat and asked, “Do… Do you need something from… ”
“Kneel.”
“Wa… Wait, wh… what?” I stammered, startled by what she just told me to do.
“I said, Kneel, ” She repeated, standing straight with her arms still crossed against her chest.
Did she make a mistake or what? I even had to turn back to see if she was talking to a servant from behind, but there was no one there. “Are you referring to me?” I pointed at myself, looking at her.
“Did you put any other dummy here, Jerome?” She questioned rudely, tilting her head to the side.
What is going on here? Why is she talking to me like this?
“I order you to kneel before me, Jerome. And you have just five minutes to do this. I’ll give you a ten seconds headstart before the countdown begins,” She threatened, dimming her eyes at me.
This is outrageous! Why will a Beta like myself go on my knees before a woman?!
“Um… Luna, is something bothering you? Have I made you mad that you decided to give me this punishment?”
“Ten seconds is off. Countdown begins now. One, ” She started, lifting her index finger to show she has begun.
I was astonished. Now I know this woman has lost it. There’s no way I’m going to kneel down at her feet. Who does she think she is?
“Two.”
“Look, as the beta of Wolf Crest, it’s wrong for me to go down on my kneel and… And bow at anyone. It’s not right.”
“Three, ” She counted further, ignoring my voice.
When I saw that she wasn’t ready to listen to me, I decided to show my power as the beta and stop this madness.
“Four.”
“I think you should stop this, Brielle,” I said, taking hold of the hand she was using to count, attempting to drop it down.
Before I could stand up to her, something unimaginable happened. Brielle grabbed me by the neck with her other hand and forced me down on my knees!
I was horrified with the sudden strength she gathered, pinning me down on the cold tiles, saying, “Since you want to show yourself, Jerome, I’m going to make you learn how to obey your Luna, the hard way.” She threatened, pressing me harder from the neck.
I was choking and struggling to get back on my feet. That’s when Brielle yelled out at me, “Who was the lady you were talking to not quite long?!”
“What?” I was shocked, finally feeling her hand letting go. I lifted my head to look at Brielle, who smirked at me deviously. Did she just ask about a lady a met? Did she see Estelle and I?!
“What’s wrong, Brielle?” Fear gripped me on hearing Alpha Argon’s voice from the side. I turned to look and saw my Alpha looking at my direction in confusion. “Why is he on his knees?”
“How about asking your Beta why he lied to you about going to the office when he was clearly seeing Estelle outside.”
“What?!” Alpha Argon exclaimed out, dropping his eyes on me in shock.
My heart flew right to my throat, as I struggled to breath.
She… She saw us.
Brielle saw Estelle talking to me. But I made sure no one was following , so how did she see us together?
