ARGON
I can’t believe she signed the papers. After all the dramas and moments we shared together, she finally ended the relationship.
We are officially divorced?
“No… I can’t accept this. Not like this.” I swayed my head, tightening my grip around the papers.
“I refuse to accept this. Why didn’t she give the papers to me herself?! When I handed the papers to her, I didn’t send anybody! I was standing before her! She… She… ARGH!” I roared, tossing the paper to the ground in anger.
My whole body shivered, unable to contain this news delivered by Tania. “No Brielle, I refuse this. You can’t leave me like that. You can’t!”
Slowly losing my temper, I raced back into the mansion to meet the messenger herself. There I found her at the bottom of the stairs crying , while the other maids surrounded her, requesting to know what the problem was.
“Hey you! Get up!” I stormed into their midst, grabbing Tania off the stairs. She wouldn’t stop shedding tears, pleading with me to let her be.
“I’m not myself at the moment, Alpha. Just leave me to cry out my pains. My Luna is gone! She’s gone!” She wailed out, letting the others know about Brielle’s departure.
“She’s gone?”
“Oh my goodness!” They mumbled, looking unhappy with this news. But I won’t be taking that report.
“I don’t care if you’re going to be crying from now till tomorrow. You are going to take me to Brielle, now!”
“But where? I don’t know where she is.”
“What do you mean by that?” I questioned, dragging Tania away from the other maids.
She swung her head and said, “I don’t know where she is, I swear! All I know is that she told me to follow her to the shopping mall, then we strolled together on the park, and before I knew it…” She paused, shedding more tears.
I picked the message Tania was passing to me. She’s trying to say Brielle left her without telling her she was leaving for good.
Refusing this , I took out my phone and called Brielle’s line. It didn’t ring, neither was it reachable. It kept saying switched off or unavailable.
“That’s when I saw the divorce papers in the bag she got for me, along with this note, ” Tania shared, pulling out a letter from her pocket.
On seeing this, I took it from her and opened it up. What I read broke my heart. Brielle said her last goodbye to Tania, hoping to find peace far away from me and from this pack.
“I have so much to live for, Tania. Do forgive me for leaving you behind. You will forever be my friend. Love… Brielle,” I read the last part, feeling my heart shattering over her main reason.
Me. She left this pack to avoid me for good.
“I miss her!” Tania cried, running away from my point and straight up the stairs. Three maids had to run after that bleeding soul, so as to pacify her.
And me… I was heartbroken.
Brielle is truly gone. She really kept her promise and left me for good. “Brielle,” I called sadly, covering my face with my hands.
The guilt was beginning to get to me now. Those ones I felt in the past wasn’t as strong as this current one. There were multiple stabs in my chest, just thinking of all her sacrifices for me.
But I have never done anything to make her happy. All I’ve ever given her is pain upon pain. And now she has chosen to leave me forever.
No, I can’t take this.
I don’t want Brielle to leave me. I need her.
“You knew I wouldn’t let you go, that’s why you left after saving my reputation. You knew how I’d feel if you had stood before me with those papers. You knew all along, ” I groaned in pain, placing my forehead against the wall.
In my pain, I smelt something. This was different from every other scent I’ve come across, be it wolf or any object. This was… “Brielle?” I identified, looking at the paper in my hold.
The scent was coming from the letter Tania gave to me. I was familiar with the maid’s scent, but not fully with Brielle. Whenever I’m around her, I hardly pick her scent or even take notice of it. But this time around, I could perceive her scent!
“This is Brielle’s! Maybe I… Yes!” An idea popped into my head. ” I can still track her with her scent! Thank you goddess, thank you! ”
Without hesitating, I rushed out of the mansion and straight into my car, driving off into the road and down to the park where Tania said she lost sight of Brielle.
If I can get her scent from here, then finding Brielle wouldn’t be a problem.
Stepping into the pack, I began using my wolf sense to search for Brielle’s scent. It took some time, but I eventually found a match.
Close to a tree near the park entrance. Brielle was here! And that wasn’t all, her scent continued right outside the park and straight on the main road.
“She must have boarded a taxi. I can still pick the scent in the air, ” I sniffed, getting more trails.
Quickly, I got into my car and followed her track, hoping it leads me to Brielle before she leaves Wolf Crest for good.
I almost met up with a traffic jam but was swift to avoid it, tracking down Brielle. After spending some minutes on the road, I arrived at an hotel at the exit of the pack. The trail showed that Brielle was here.
“She must have lodged in this place,” I assumed, rushing out of my car and straight into the building.
When the manager saw me, he was amused. “Oh, Sir Argon. What… A surprise,” He didn’t sound pleased with my presence He thought I came to book a room but got pushed aside immediately. “Brielle!” I yelled, following her scent.
“Sir! Sir, please you can’t go in without booking a room! ” The manager yelled, chasing me from behind.
He even dared to stand in my way, reminding me of my past actions and how it would affect his hotel. “I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but with all due respect sir, you can’t come in unless you book a room.”
“So because of what happened, you have lost your manners? No problem. Be expecting a bad review from me real soon, ” I threatened the manager, still storming inside to find Brielle.
Her scent led me to a room on the last floor. It was quite fancy and lavish.
I knocked hard on it, calling out to Brielle. “I know you’re in there, Brielle. Please, open the door!”
“Sir, you can’t disturb our guest! This is rude!” The manager scolded, trying to get in my way.
Out of anger, I grabbed his neck with my left hand and had him in the air, shaking. The fellow panicked, begging me to let go.
I wouldn’t have listened to his cries if the door hadn’t open up. I threw the fool to the floor, getting ready to meet Brielle.
But who I saw left me stunned. “Sir Derek?” He was the one who answered the door, not Brielle.
“Argon? What are you doing here? ” He asked, surprised to see me outside his room.
He must be here for a business meeting or something else. But why is Brielle’s scent coming from his room?
“I didn’t make any appointment with you, nor do I remember giving you this address.”
“Brielle, where is she?” I asked, stretching my head to take a look into his room.
“Brielle?” He was astounded to hear her name from my mouth. Not just that, it looked like he was hiding something from me when I mentioned Brielle’s name.
That could only mean one thing… “She’s here, isn’t she?”
“What are you talking about?” He asked, lifting a brow. But my stubbornness got the best of me. I began calling out to Brielle.
Sir Derek found this inappropriate and stopped me from forcing my way into his room. “Brielle isn’t here, Argon!”
“If she isn’t, why am I picking her scent, huh?!” I questioned, so he won’t think I’m dumb.
“I can pick Brielle’s scent coming from inside, Sir Derek. She’s inside and you don’t want to tell me!”
“You are right about Brielle’s scent, Argon. But with the goddess as my witness…” He stood aside from the door. “She isn’t here,” He revealed.
I didn’t want to believe his words. I wanted prove. And he read my body language in split seconds, because he gave me the go ahead to step in and look for her. “You won’t find her here, son,” He said.
I went in to check, but I didn’t see Brielle. And her scent… It came fading right there in the room. Her last scent was here. No more trail. It’s like it vanished into thin air.
“She came by to tell me all that had happened with the councils, and she also wanted to say her Goodbyes,” Sir Derek shared, standing next to me.
“I wanted to help her get a new place to start afresh, but she turned down the offer like always and left without telling me where she was heading to,” He added.
On hearing this from him, I felt my world crumbling. If he has no clue where Brielle is, then… Then I’ve lost.
“By the way, why are you looking for her? Is it that important that you had to come all the way here, banging on my door like a maniac? ” Sir Derek questioned, crossing his arms at me.
“You’re the last person I expected to see searching for Brielle. I mean, with the divorce finally settled, you should be celebrating your freedom from the woman who has prevented you from doing whatever you wanted with your life. You are now a free bird. You can now be with your lover and start your brand new life.”
“I don’t want that!” I raised my voice, almost losing my cool before Sir Derek. But when Brielle came to mind, I became sad. “I don’t want that life anymore. That life brought nothing but problems into my home. I… I just want to see Brielle again.”
“See her again? You… You don’t mean…” He paused, widening his eyes in realization.
I lowered my head in shame, unable to look him in the eyes. “I’d do anything to get her back. I need my Brielle,” I confessed, expressing my deep feelings.
“I’m astonished. You finally see the picture after all these years. My goodness Argon, you… Damn!” He groaned at this, holding back the raging words he wanted to vent on me.
Instead, he just sighed and said, ” At this point, I can’t help you. You can only depend on the heaven now. If the goddess wants you and Brielle to meet again, then she’ll give you a sign.”
He placed his hand on my shoulder, inviting me for a drink. But I wasn’t in the mood for that. I chose to head back to my place and drown in my wallow of pain.
.
The following day, I sat in my room, staring at a news that popped on the screen, revealing the councils announcement concerning my punishment.
They declared me the Alpha again, restoring all rights that I had lost. And since the news went wild, I’ve been getting calls and texts from those who broke all connections with me in the past. They were calling, seeking for my attention.
But I wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone or to even visit the company. I wanted to be alone.
Suddenly, I got another next from a familiar number. This line belonged to… “Jerome?” My disloyal beta!
“Why is he texting me? I bet he wants to beg me after hearing the news. That backstabbing wolf,” I believed, refusing to open the message.
But when more messages came in from that disloyal beta, I decided to just check it and let it be once and for all.
On opening the message, I was flabbergasted by what I read. “I know where Brielle is. Trust me, I saw her leaving the pack. I know her location,” He shared.
