CHAPTER 99

ARGON
After what happened that night between Brielle and I, she began to avoid me anyway possible.
If we meet at the stairs, she’d take a U-turn and head back to her room until I was gone. If it’s the dining room, she’d act like a ghost and run away from there.
How? Well, when I stepped into the dining room one afternoon, I met Tania standing near the table with an opened meal.
It’s not for her, that’s for sure. But before I could open my mouth to ask for Brielle’s whereabout, the sound of heels tapping the tiles violently came from behind, revealing where she was.
She was hiding behind the door and took to her heels when she saw me talking to Tania.
This was beginning to trouble me. I couldn’t stand her attitude any more.
With the wedding closer than ever, I decided to do some things with my Estelle, just to take Brielle out of my system. But whenever I see or hear she’s out with one of her lovers, I find myself feeling choked.
“Is everything okay, son?” Alpha Deron had asked me, gaining my attention.
I was at his mansion, helping out with the guest lists from the bride side. Estelle wasn’t at home to help out. According to Alpha Deron, she went out with some friends to celebrate her upcoming wedding.
“Everything is fine. I was just feeling stressed out,” I lied, still stealing a glance at the message on my phone.
One of my guards at the mansion, sent me a message concerning Brielle. She just went out with a man and that’s why I’m feeling raged here in my seat, wondering where that man has taken her to.
“Okay then. I think this number is enough. I’ll send out the invitation immediately. We don’t have much time, ” Alpha Deron said, calling a guard over.
While he was talking to the guard, I was texting my guard, ordering him to notify me when Brielle returns.
Once I was done with this meeting with Alpha Deron, I went over to meet Sir Derek at his company and to invite him personally to the wedding.
The old man was in a meeting with his business partners, but soon joined me later in the waiting room.
“Argon, how are you? ” He asked, extending his hand at me for a handshake. I gladly took it in my hold, responding back, “I am good, sir. I hope you’ve been well yourself? ”
“Well, I have. It’s just work stuff that had been taking my time, ” He said, letting out a smile.
He invited me into his office for a chat, and there I showed him the invitation card, expressing my interest in seeing him at my wedding.
“You are my father’s best friend, and I see you like a father figure. I’d be happy if you could attend this wedding,” I expressed, handing the card over to him.
He didn’t want to take it at first, telling me how busy he would be on that day. But after a brief pause, he accepted the invitation.
“It’s because you’re my friend’s son and my partner. I’ll come.”
“Thank you,” I appreciated, feeling pleased.
We had a brief conversation before I left his office, heading back to the mansion after receiving my guard’s text.
Brielle was back.
On arriving at the gate, I met two men standing near the door of my mansion, talking to Brielle.
Both wore suits, shades, and had flowers in their hold. There was no need for someone to tell me who they were. Their appearance says it all.
I drove into the compound and parked close to the mansion, not the parking space. I got out of the car and walked up to them, watching how Brielle blushed at this men, who were flirting with her.
So irritating!
When I came near, these suitors had to give way for me to pass by, after greeting me with respect. But I didn’t greet them back. I just directed my eyes at Brielle, who looked at me with a smirk, taking hold of these men’s hands, saying, “Let’s head somewhere quiet.”
“Whatever you say, my lady, ” They both agreed, following her.
Because of what she said, I didn’t head inside but followed them at once, disturbing their privacy.
“Choose me and I’ll make you my queen.”
“No, pick me, Brielle. I’ll be the one who’ll make you the queen of this world.”
When I heard this, I laughed, not minding if they heard me or not. “How can you make her a queen when I’ve already given her that title before? You need to try harder.”
This brought discomfort to the men, who decided to leave. Brielle wanted to stop them, but they promised to call, leaving my home.
“That’s better, ” I scoffed.
Brielle faced me with anger in her eyes. She groaned out and stormed back into the mansion.
“Tell them to try harder!” I yelled out so she’d hear me.
This attitude I continued.
The following day, when I saw Brielle heading out with another suitor of hers, I had to take Estelle along, spoiling Brielle’s privacy with my presence.
She got mad and left, leaving her date behind. “It’s best you move on, because you’re not fit to give her what she wants,” I said to the fellow, sending him away.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Estelle questioned my behavior, finding it displeasing.
“When you said you were taking me out on a date, you didn’t tell me we were meeting with Brielle and her boyfriend.”
“How was I supposed to know she was here? I just spotted them and felt we should have a double date.”
“Double date? Argon, it didn’t look like a double date but more like a battleground. You were just talking to the fellow like you were going to eat him up! What’s wrong?”
“Nothing!” I raised, surprising Estelle.
“It’s nothing, I promise. Let’s… Let’s go, ” I suggested, taking Estelle away from that place.
I thought that would stop Brielle from heading out with any other suitor, but it didn’t. When I got back to the mansion, after dropping Estelle at her place, the latter I met at the restaurant with Brielle, was standing at the gate with her!
They were talking and laughing!
The latter soon pecked Brielle’s hand, promising to see her again. She waved goodbye and watched him leave.
I was mad. Despite everything, they still came down here to resume with their nonsense!
Brielle saw me watching from the other side where I parked my car. She smirked at me and turned around, walking back to the mansion.
My plan failed.
.
Finally, it was the last night before my wedding. I was standing at the terrace, watching how my guards and maids got ready for the big day.
My attention was soon taken by Brielle’s arrival. She had gone out to heaven knows where and came back with shopping bags in her hold.
When I saw this, I left the terrace to meet with her.
I waited at a corner for Brielle to step into her room. When she went in, I followed from behind, forcing my way in.
She saw me and began to yell, “Argon, if you’re here to trouble me again, then you’ll be sorry. I won’t just bite your finger but your neck!”
“I am not here to struggle with you,” I said, stepping closer to her. “Neither am I here to fight about your lovers. I have come to hear from you.”
“Hear what?” She asked, stepping back slowly.
“The truth, Brielle. I need to know how you feel about me. What is your true feelings towards me.”
“What are you talking about? True feelings? Argon, I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“Don’t lie to me. ” I drew near, causing her to drift back again. “I’ve seen it in your eyes. You act like you hate me or like you’ve buried every feelings that you once had deep into the earth, but I know for a fact that… That you still love me.”
Brielle’s eyes grew large in surprise. She no longer stepped away from me but remained in her spot.
When I saw this, my heart glowed.
“Love?”
“Yes, love. You still love me but chose to pretend like you don’t. You can’t stand the fact that I’m getting married to Estelle, that’s why you’re forcing yourself on all these men, ” I pointed out, drawing closer to her.
Each step I took ignited a strange flame within my heart. I needed to hear the truth from Brielle. I want to hear her say it.
“You forced yourself into a world you never wanted, just to forget I ever existed. But I know very well that you did all these because of me. You are sending me a message. You want me to hear your voice through your body language. You still want me, Brielle.”
The gap came closing between us. My hand slowly reached for her face, caressing her cheek.
She just stared into my eyes, lost in my words.
“It’s best you tell me your true feelings now, because once I’m on that altar with Estelle, you may never get this opportunity to tell me what’s in your heart. I’ll be far away from you, very far.”
“My true feelings?” She uttered softly.
I nodded, responding back, “Yes, your feelings. Tell me now before it’s too late.”
“And what makes you think that I still love you, Argon?” She questioned, slowly drifting into her rude attitude.
She’s trying so hard to hide it from me.
“So what if you’re getting married tomorrow? I am not crying about it.”
“Brielle, stop being stubborn and speak!” I grabbed her by the arms, pulling her near. “I am giving you this chance. Why are you trying to throw it away?”
“Because I never asked for it in the first place. You are the one who’s exaggerating here, ” She responded, glaring at me.
Why does she have to be so difficult? Why won’t she speak up?
“I should be the one asking you those questions, Argon. Why are you begging me to confess my feelings to you? What are your true feelings for me?”
“What?” My heart skipped on hearing her question. It got my hands falling off her in a shiver.
“Have you ever asked yourself that question before? You are the one getting married, yet you’re acting like a maniac whenever you see me with other men. You always want to pick a fight with me for no good reason. Why?”
All these questions left my body heating up. I have never asked myself nor do I wish to.
“If you don’t have an answer, then kindly leave my room, Argon. Tomorrow is your wedding, so you need to have a good night rest and think of your future. Stop meddling in mine.” She pointed at the door coldly, waiting for me to leave.
I stared at her, still feeling lost.
Brielle doesn’t care about me or about the fact that I’m getting married to Estelle. She’s just being…
Damn her!
Out of anger, I said to her, ” Is that your answer? Fine then. Just know that when I climb that altar, and you come running to me, I’ll ignore you.”
“Please do so, your majesty.” She bowed, annoying me even more.
Raged, I stormed out of her room, heading for mine. I couldn’t get her questions out of my mind. It kept ringing in my head!
“If that’s what you want Brielle, then fine. Don’t come crying at my feet when Estelle and I are married, because I won’t listen.”
