ARGON
I don’t want to go there and see that woman’s face. I was expecting Jerome to do the work for me, but no, he’s sick.
I sat in the living room watching a news about someone who was found almost dead at a warehouse, when my phone came ringing.
“Who’s this?” I wondered, noticing the strange number I have never seen before.
I decided to answer it and see who it was, only for me to hear Brielle yelling from the other end. “I asked for the groom and not his beta. Is Jerome the one getting married to Estelle?”
“For the love of… ” I groaned, set to hang the call on her. “Don’t you dare hang that call on me, Argon! If you do, I’ll call the councils and tell them you’re stressing me here! ” She threatened, stopping me in my track.
What she said made me furious. “So, you’ve chosen to use the Councils against me for your own needs? Is this the kind of woman you’ve become?”
“Yeah, and it’s all thanks to you. If you think you can trouble me any further, trust me, I’m going to forget that we live in the same mansion, and tell the council members what an ass you are! ” She sparked, stunning me by the minute.
Now that my wedding is drawing closer than ever, Brielle’s behavior towards me has become more harsher and meaner than before.
“You better get down here, Argon. You have an hour. Bring your darling wife along.”
“I said I’m…”
BEEP! She hung the call on me.
“Brielle! Why are you so… Dammit! ” I stamped my fist on the couch, angry with her troubles.
I wish I could stand my ground and say no to her, but since she has made plans to get the councils involved, I had no choice but to go there and see her so-called arrangement.
“Just let it go.” I sighed, getting to my feet and out of the living room.
I got set and journeyed down to the venue. There I met Estelle waiting for me already. I had to call her as well, so I won’t be alone with Brielle.
“Baby!” Estelle exclaimed in excitement, jumping into my arms with lots of kisses to my face.
I smiled at her, admiring my soon to be bride. She was looking much lively and jovial.
“How have you been, my love? ” I asked, wrapping my arms around her waist.
“I’ve been great, sweetheart. Is just that I’ve been missing you so much,” She mumbled innocently, embracing me.
I chuckled at her childish behavior, hugging her back.
“Awww! Come on, don’t do that here. It’s so beautiful,” A familiar voice said from the entrance of the hall, gaining mine and Estelle’s attention.
There we found Brielle and the decorators, standing there watching us. She had a grin across her face, as she wiped off fake tears from her eyes, saying, “You two are indeed made for each other. Your love story is just so beautiful!”
“What is wrong with this psychopath?” Estelle whispered to me, finding Brielle’s attitude weird.
I didn’t have an answer to that question. All I know is that she’s insane.
“I wonder how you’d react when you see what we’ve done with the place. Just… Just come inside,” She invited us, stepping into the hall hurriedly.
I rolled my eyes, following Brielle from behind with my lovely Estelle by my side. When we stepped into the Hall…
“Wow!” Estelle and I exclaimed at the decorations inside the building. It was so mesmerizing.
“Captivating huh? ” Brielle asked, walking around and pointing at the decorated areas.
The one that caught my attention more was the altar itself. It looked like the gates of heaven, designed with gold, silver and white ornaments.
“She did all these? It’s…” Estelle uttered, stunned by the beauty of the place.
Who wouldn’t be shocked? I have never seen anything like this before.
“The best for the Alpha and his future Luna. When everyone see you two up there, they’ll fall in love immediately,” She giggled, drawing nearer to the altar.
My eyes followed Brielle, as she stood on the altar, demonstrating how Estelle and I would carry out our vows. That scene took me back to the past, when it was our wedding.
The decorations that day wasn’t as beautiful as this. Brielle then was as innocent and weak as a fly. She had her head bowed when her veil was lifted off her face.
I can still remember when we kissed, I had whispered into her ear, making it clear to her that our marriage was nothing but a sham.
Her face had fear and sorrow written all over it, but now all I can see is a desperate woman who can’t wait to leave the marriage she used to pray to the goddess to keep strong.
“So what if it’s pretty? I know my decorators would have done better, ” Estelle bragged, pulling me out of my flashback.
“Yes, I know your decorators would have done well, but remember that I made a promise to organize everything for you, and Argon accepted it,” Brielle said, responding to Estelle’s words.
She came off the altar and said to us, ” It still feels like yesterday to me. When you two came into my room to send me away, and I picked up the role of a wedding planner over night… Now see where we are! ” She lifted her arms in the air, smiling.
“Next week is your big day! Gosh! I feel so happy for you guys, ” She cheered, showing off that annoying side of hers.
Her happiness was stabbing my heart and I didn’t like.
“Yes, you should be. Our match is made from the heavens. We are meant to be,” Estelle boasted, holding me close.
I immediately backed her up, supporting her words. “The goddess is the one who made all these possible. In a few days, my sweetheart will be my wife, ” I said, getting all romantic with Estelle in front of Brielle.
“Oh, come on. This is too much for me,” Brielle said, sounding sarcastic. Maybe what she actually meant is that she’s jealous to see the man she once called her husband, making out with another woman.
“Why? Are you offended by our love?” I asked, smirking at Brielle.
To my surprise, she said, ” Oh no, I can’t be offended by that. I’m only jealous that’s all.”
“Jealous? Why?” My heart glowed when she admitted the truth.
All of a sudden, Brielle pulled out a phone I’ve never seen before and said, “You’re making me miss Jerry. Gosh! He’s so romantic! Maybe Antonio or Zane. No, I think Richard is more romantic.”
“What?” My eyes came large when she began to mention all these men names.
“Who are they? Your boyfriends?” Estelle mocked. But that question brought a disturbing response that I never wished to hear.
When Estelle asked, Brielle blushed and replied, “Something like that.” She held a part of her hair, twisting it like a new bride!
“They are all asking for my… No, I shouldn’t spoil the fun. Until I have chosen the right man, I’ll narrate the story to you two lovely birds,” She giggled, dialing a number.
I froze in my spot, staring at Brielle. Is she serious about this or is this a joke?
Are all those men like her suitors?!
“Hey Baby! How are you? Sorry, I know I promised to call you when I’m done here, but I was missing you already,” She said to whoever it was she was talking to, walking out of our sight.
This is unbelievable.
Suitors? From where?!
I had the intention of going after Brielle and listening to her conversation, but Estelle held me close and begged me to take her home. “I need to rest, dear. This place is suffocating me. I hope I don’t faint during the wedding.”
Honoring her wish, I left the place with Estelle. But my whole mind was still on Brielle. I couldn’t take it off her after hearing all those men’s name.
.
That night at around ten, I was waiting for Brielle at the terrace. She wasn’t back from wherever she had gone off to from the hall.
After dropping Estelle at home, I had driven down to the hall to meet Brielle, but was told by the decorators that she went out with a man in his car.
Now it’s ten and she wasn’t back.
“She has a lot of explaining to do!” I groaned, watching from above.
And just then, I saw a car pulling right outside the mansion’s gate. Out came Brielle and a man I’ve never seen before. They both had their arms locked with each other, laughing while passing through the gate.
“Who’s that?!” I tightened my hand strongly, storming off the terrace to meet this two. But by the time I got to the entrance of the mansion, Brielle was waving goodbye to this lover of hers, who was leaving in his car.
When she turned around, she found me glaring at her, blocking the door. “Where are you coming from?” I questioned her.
Brielle shrugged and asked, “And why do you care?”
I got mad at her response, slamming my fist against the wall. “Can you see the time?! Is this the right hour for a lady to return home?!”
“You ain’t my Dad. Quit asking me such a question like I’m a child. ” She dimmed her eyes at me, crossing her arms.
The audacity!
“Is that so? Alright then, go back to wherever you’re coming from because you are not stepping into this mansion!” I asserted my dominance, pointing out to the gate.
And what did this creepy woman do?
“Okay. Let me call Jerry back, ” She accepted smoothly, taking out her phone and making a U- turn.
Shocked by her action… “GET BACK HERE!” I grabbed her arm and dragged her into the mansion.
“Hey! Let me go! ” Brielle shouted, but I didn’t listen.
I dragged her straight to my room and pushed her inside, shutting the down from behind.
“What is wrong with you?!” She sparked at me, raising her hand to hit my face.
Quickly, I caught hold of her hand and held her against the wall, placing both hands above her head. She groaned and struggled, ordering me to let her go.
“Who is Jerry?! Who gave you that phone?!” I questioned her, pinning her hard from moving.
Brielle refused to give me any answer, calling me a mad man. “What’s your business with my life, Argon?! Who I follow and talk to isn’t your business!”
“It is!” I raised my voice, grabbing her jaw.
Brielle groaned, almost biting me, but I had her head tilting back, preventing her from sinking her teeth into my flesh.
“As long as you’re in my house, whatever you do concerns me. I have a right to know what you’re doing, who you’re seeing, where you’re heading to…”
Suddenly, I felt that tingling vibration. It engulfed my whole body, causing me to loosen my grip on Brielle a bit.
“It’s my right to know what goes on in your life, Brielle. I am still… Still your husband.”
“Husband? Don’t use that word on me, Argon. I don’t have a husband. You are engaged to Estelle, and soon you’ll be married to her.”
She made an attempt to push me off, but my hand immediately held her back tightly, stopping her from making any move.
“Argon, let me go!” Brielle struggled, lifting her eyes at me, only for it to come locking with mine.
Her eyes… They were so beautiful. I became lost in her gaze, as my hand came loose from jaw, slowly caressing her lips with my finger.
She gasped out softly, staring at me. They were tempting, beautiful, and arousing. I carefully drew closer to Brielle, closing the gap between us.
But suddenly…
“OUCH!!” Brielle had my finger in her mouth. She had bitten it hard, causing me to let go of her.
“Stay in your lane! ” She yelled, running out of my room, slamming the door from behind.
I groaned, nursing my aching finger.
That woman! She’s a beast!
“SHIT!” I squeezed the finger hard.
