ARGON
Ever since Estelle brought up the topic of our wedding, I’ve not been myself.
What carried her mind to that matter in the first place?
I dropped Estelle back at her home, fulfilling my promise. It was already evening and there was no chance of doing anything special for Brielle.
“Maybe I’ll just get her something nice on my way home. Maybe her favorite color of rose? It’s been long I got that for her. Yeh, that will do,” I decided, leaving Estelle’s home.
She had wanted me to stay and wait for Alpha Deron to return, but I refused, leaving immediately.
I arrived back at the mansion with Brielle’s favorite flower. But when I went over to her room to give it to her, I met Tania stepping out with a glass jug in her hand.
“She’s asleep. I just want to get some water in case she gets thirsty,” She said.
I hummed, handing her the flower. “Do give it to her on my behalf.”
“No problem. I’ll keep this in the room now, ” She said, retreating back into the bedroom.
I took a peep and found Brielle laying in bed. She was still in her office attire, sleeping. I gave a light smile, admiring this hardworking soul.
“Goodnight,” I muttered, walking away.
I came downstairs to have my dinner, only to be met by Jerome, who asked about work. Since he was on suspension, the best he could do was ask questions.
“It was fine,” I responded, getting ready to eat my meal. But Jerome kept on talking, bringing up Estelle’s matter to the dining.
“She came over this afternoon to see you, but I told her you where at the office. Seems she made you something special, right?” He smiled at me.
And when that word ‘Special’ rang in my head, I remembered the wedding card she made without my knowledge.
Out of anger, I told Jerome about it and how frustrated I felt when I saw the date embroidered on the card.
“She didn’t tell me anything but went ahead to make one. Why does she have to be so annoying?!” I groaned, grabbing my head.
That’s when I felt Jerome’s hand on my back. He patted me and said, “That’s women for you, Alpha. You can never understand their emotions. And I think I can understand what is wrong with Luna Estelle. The pregnancy symptoms are getting to her. It’s normal in some pregnant women’s life.”
“And how did you know? Did you get someone pregnant or were you pregnant in the past? ” I dimmed my eyes at the man standing beside me.
He cackled at my words and advised me to bear with Estelle. “In no time, you’ll get used to it. ” He patted my shoulder once again, exiting the room.
“I’ll get used to it? What kind of life is this?” I sighed.
.
The following day, Estelle and I went over to see Doctor Nicole, who requested to carry out some check up on Estelle, for the sake of the child.
When we were done, we left the hospital and did a little outing together. We even took a stroll at the nearest park, since the doctor advised Estelle to carry out a few stretches.
All these work on my head. But what can I do? I’m the father of the child in her womb. It’s my responsibility.
After what felt like an eternity, Estelle and I decided to head back to my place and rest, since we were close by.
But on arrival, my whole body shivered on seeing an familiar car parked next to mine.
“Isn’t that the council members carriage? ” Estelle joked, identifying the car.
Indeed it’s their car! What are they doing here?
“Shit! Why didn’t Jerome notify me?!” I groaned, parking the car close to the mansion.
Without wasting time, I rushed out of the car, leaving Estelle behind. She was already calling out to me from behind, but that wasn’t my concern at the moment.
“The councils! Dammit!” I panicked, racing into the mansion. That’s when my Beta came rushing from a corner, approaching me.
“Alpha, thank the heavens you’re back.”
“Seriously, Jerome? You couldn’t call to tell me they where here?!” I glared at him, tightening my hand into a fist while drawing closer to the living room.
“I did call, but you didn’t answer. I assumed you were busy and didn’t bother to call the tenth time,” He said, following me from behind.
When I got close, wondering what the councils were talking to Brielle about, I was immediately startled by the councils, who where now standing at the entrance of the living room, dropping their creepy eyes on me.
“Councils… What a surprise.”
“Yes, a surprise indeed. I can see you brought your future wife here. How wonderful.” Their eyes navigated from my point and straight behind.
When I turned back to look, I saw Estelle standing close to Jerome. I thought she was still in the car struggling to step out?
How did she get here so fast?
“It’s been long we saw you two together. Have you finally made plans for your wedding date?” One of them asked.
“Well we… Estelle and I…”
“You do know you two are wasting our Brielle’s precious time with your matter, right? You are already in the third month. When are you getting married?”
I wanted to speak, but didn’t know the right words to say. But an impatient wolf suddenly interfered in an important discussion.
“In two weeks, Councils. My Argon and I will be getting married on a beautiful Friday,” Estelle announced, shocking me!
The councils were amused by this information given by Estelle. “Thank the goddess! At least we can get over this drama once and for all.”
“Exactly!”
“Thank you, goddess!”
“No! ” I interrupted their jubilation, swaying my head at the announcement. “It’s not in two weeks. We’re… We’re still working on the date. Estelle just got excited,” I said, turning back to look at this loose mouth.
“Isn’t that right, Estelle?” I glared at her, signaling her to agree.
She stood there in surprise, nodding at the councils.
On hearing this, the councils frowned at me, saying, “Now I’m beginning to wonder why we made you the Alpha in the first place. You don’t even know your left to your right.”
I felt embarrassed, apologizing on Estelle’s behalf. But the councils didn’t care. They wanted me to make a decision quick or they’d do it for me.
“You have from now till the end of next week to make your decision. You can’t keep us waiting, most especially Brielle. You’re troubling that innocent woman with your nonsense!”
“I am so sorry,” I apologized again, bowing at them.
“Don’t forget that your throne is on the line, Argon. The more you keep us waiting, the more we’re forced to step out and get a better Alpha for this pack. We have seen a lot of men who are fit for the throne, so you better act fast. ”
They walked out on me, exiting the mansion.
I remained in my spot, feeling heavy over their words. “Dammit! Next week? But… I don’t know if…”
Suddenly, someone cheered out from the living room, causing my heart to skip. I lifted my head to see Brielle covering her mouth in joy, looking at Estelle and I.
“In two weeks? This is great! At last you two have made your decision,” She jubilated, clapping her hands.
The sight of this sent a sudden wave around me body. Brielle’s delight in Estelle’s planned date and the wedding… It… It brought…
“Finally! Now I can call the decorators. They have been waiting for a response for long. Now I can call them, ” She cheered, congratulating us.
But her congratulations only filled me with… With…
“STOP THIS DRAMA! ” I sparked, stunning Brielle, Estelle, and Jerome.
“Stop acting like you’re happy about this! You know you’re not happy, so stop annoying us with all these fake smiles! ” I roared at her.
I was expecting her to break down and shed some tears, to give me a sign that she’s only pretending to be happy. But this woman stunned me.
She scoffed at me and asked, “So if you don’t want to see me happy, what should I do? Cry? ”
I was panting from my roars, staring at Brielle, who was now cackling like a psychopath!
“I’m so sorry for laughing. It’s just that you sound so funny, Argon. Look, I don’t have time for all these shenanigans. It’s best you two put on a smile and celebrate your special moment. Congratulations again! WOOO! ” She cheered, skipping away with joy.
Furious, that’s how I felt after listening to Brielle. Why is she so happy about this? She’s supposed to be weeping, but no! She’s acting so desperate to wed Estelle and I!
Why won’t she admit she’s hurt?!
“Baby, don’t mind that woman. Let’s just do as the council members have said and…”
“SHUT UP! ” I roared, turning around to face a terrified Estelle. She drifted back, hiding behind Jerome for support.
“This is all your doing! I told you to stay quiet and leave everything to me. Who gave you the permission to speak before the councils? WHO?!” I yelled, while Estelle hid her face from me.
“Alpha, please be calm, ” Jerome pleaded on Estelle’s behalf, adding to my anger.
“She… She didn’t mean to upset you. She got too excited and just…”
“STOP BACKING HER UP! ARE YOU HER BRAIN?! ARE YOU?!”
Jerome swayed his head, stepping back with Estelle.
In annoyance, I stormed off, heading up the stairs.
“Luna! Wait, please! ” I heard Jerome calling out to Estelle.
When I turned back, I saw her crying and running out of the mansion, while Jerome followed her from behind.
I groaned, covering my face in frustration.
This wouldn’t have happened if she hadn’t opened her big mouth.
And Brielle? She added to it with her fake happiness. Her behavior is the reason why I got mad at them.
She… Damn!
