ARGON
“She needs to be careful with how she handle things. I’m glad Alpha Deron and I, showed up on time to save her,” I shared with Jerome, unable to take the matter out of my mind.
I was on an important call with one of my business clients when Alpha Deron appeared at my door, asking for Estelle.
It left me confused because it was unusual for him to ask for his daughter.
I had told him she wasn’t here at the mansion, only for him to get a call from one of his guards, revealing Estelle’s location.
“She’s modelling today?! What’s wrong with that girl?!” He had sparked, feeling upset with the news.
I was also concerned about this. Why didn’t she tell anyone about the show? She didn’t even tell her own father.
We had to go and see how she was doing, only for Estelle to pass out on the runway, causing my heart to skip in fear.
When I held Estelle in my arms, I didn’t just feel her heart beat, but… But my baby’s. I could feel the connection with the little one, and that pulled me closer.
I couldn’t stay angry with Estelle anymore. The little one weakened me to the point of forgiving her for all her mistakes.
“Doctor Nicole suggested that I stay with both mother and child. But… Estelle and her father…”
“Alpha, I know they have hurt you deeply in the past with their actions, but think about that innocent child. It has done nothing wrong,” Jerome said, drawing closer to me.
We where at the terrace, looking out to night sky.
“If you decide to leave her with the baby all because of the past, it will only leave a wedge between you and your child. And that won’t be nice. ”
I listened to my Beta, who began to advise me to take good care of Estelle for the sake of the baby.
“Even though you feel angry towards her, don’t let it affect your relationship with your baby. That’s your heir in her womb, Alpha, ” He said, making it clear.
“You know as an Alpha, it’s important for you to have an heir who’ll succeed after you, when you’re old. Just like you and your father, ” He pointed out, while I listened, reminiscing on the baby’s heartbeat.
“Take away any other obstacles and use this chance to play your role as a father. Let bygones be bygones,” He said, placing his hand on my shoulder.
I sighed at this, shrugging my Beta’s hand off. I was still upset with his own action towards Brielle, and I’m sure he gets the message.
“I’ll see what I can do, ” I said, stepping away from his point.
“Okay, Alpha. Do what is best, ” He advised again, smiling at me.
I didn’t return it back but left, making my way to my room.
“You’ve forgiven her already, Argon. Just try and make things go well. You are going to be a father,” I told myself, walking away.
That morning, I didn’t bother to head down to the company to see what the construction workers were doing. Instead, I sent Jerome down there to go and see how everything was going, while I made plans to take Estelle out on shopping.
She was over the moon when I told her about the plan, talking about the baby and how we need to keep it healthy by doing things together.
“Thank you so much, Argon. I love you, ” She appreciated, hugging me.
Her hugs didn’t feel like the past when we where in good terms with each other. It felt more like hugging a stranger.
“I’ll get myself ready. Please wait for me, ” She had said, heading to her room.
I remained in the living room, hoping to get this outing done and focus on my business. That’s when Brielle stepped into the living room with a glass of water in her hand.
Her presence brought a glow to my face, brightening my mood.
“Oh, I didn’t see you there, ” She said, taking her seat.
I smiled and asked Brielle if she was free to join Estelle and I for shopping. But Brielle swayed her head at the plan, turning it down. “I’m sorry, Argon, but it’s best you two head out together. It won’t be nice if I’m there.”
“Don’t say that. I have no problem with you,” I said, rising to my feet to sit next to her. But everything was ruined by Estelle, who stormed into the living room, staring at us.
She immediately took hold of my hands, begging me to come and assist her in getting ready. “I am so confused, dear. I don’t want to get a headache over such a little thing. Please Argon,” She begged.
Having no choice, I followed Estelle to her room, helping her get ready for the outing. But that ruined the chance of convincing Brielle to join us. And besides, she already made up her mind.
“Maybe it’s best I let her be. I’ll just leave with Estelle,” I decided.
We both journeyed to one of Estelle’s favorite shopping ground and began to buy all the things she wanted.
I thought she was only going to look for new clothes for herself and we leave, but Estelle suddenly pulled me into the kiddies section, begging to get our baby some clothes.
“I am so excited!” She shrieked, touching all the tiny garments.
This felt silly to me. The child hasn’t gotten anywhere and she’s already looking for it’s clothes?
What is wrong with this woman?
“Please Argon. I won’t be at peace if we don’t get it. Please, ” she pleaded, showing off her googly eyes.
“Estelle, there’s no need to…” I paused on seeing some eyes on us.
The customers at the store were secretly looking at Estelle and I in a weird manner, leaving me disturbed. And that’s because we’re at the kiddies section.
“What are they doing here?”
“But they don’t have any kids.”
“Didn’t you see the drama at the show last night? Miss Super model passed out on the runway.”
“Goodness! Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Same.”
I could hear the voices of two ladies gossiping from the corner. They are suspicious of Estelle’s condition, and seeing us here is enough to make them suspect she was pregnant.
But I don’t want anyone to know about this pregnancy. It needs to be kept a secret from the public.
Quickly, I stopped Estelle from picking any cloth and said, covering up, “You’re sweet when you fantasize about the future. Let’s wait until then, okay?”
“But Argon…” Estelle was confused.
She still wanted to speak, but I dragged her away, paying for the items she picked and exiting the store.
When we stepped into the car, Estelle requested to know what had happened back there. “Why were you talking like I wasn’t actually pregnant?”
“It’s best for us to stay quiet about this for now, than letting the public know about the child. I don’t want anything that will disrupt my reputation or my business,” I said, making it clear to Estelle.
But on looking at her face, she was upset.
“Okay, I’ve heard. We won’t talk about it, ” She accepted, cuddling herself in her seat.
I sighed and kept on driving, suggesting we stop by a fancy restaurant. Estelle agreed to it, letting out a smile.
“I’ll just keep her shut for now. The public can’t know about this child yet.”
.
A few days later, the company was back on track. All the workers were back to work, as well as Brielle and I. We had to resume along with the staffs, so we could cover up some pending assignment.
And as for Jerome… Well, he was still on suspension. I didn’t even bother to call him over to do anything for me. I have Brielle here by my side.
Her presence made everything look so perfect in my eyes. Even her focus on work was top notch.
This got me teasing and messing around with Brielle, making her pause her work just to face me.
“Being the boss of this company, I expect you to be more serious than me, Argon,” She said, dimming her eyes at me.
I smiled at her face expression and said, ” I am serious with work. That’s why I’m trying to brighten my secretary’s mood. I can’t allow you to work with a long face.”
I made fun of her, tapping her cheek. Brielle scoffed, slapping my hand aside. “Get to work, Argon, and let me be.”
I chuckled, sitting on her desk, and staring at the documents she was handling. This made me admire her hardwork and diligence more and more.
I felt like rewarding her for her effort. And I had a better way to do it.
“How about we head…”
All of a sudden, my door came wide open with Estelle stepping in with a basket in her hold.
“Hey Sweetie! Guess who brought lunch!”
“Estelle? What are you doing here? ” I got off Brielle’s desk, drawing closer to Estelle.
She dived into my arms for a hug, telling me the touching tale of how she made lunch just for me.
While she was talking, Brielle got to her feet with the files she was working on and left the office.
“Brielle,” I called, but she just waved at me, saying, “I need to make some copies. I’ll be back. ” She left.
Now, I was alone with a desperate Estelle, who forced me to take a seat and try out her meal.
“I made this with all of my heart, dear. You’ll love it, I promise you, ” She assured me.
I didn’t want to disappoint her, so I accepted her meal, having a taste. “Not bad. It’s really nice, ” I commented.
Estelle was so happy. She drew closer to me and planted a kiss on my cheek, saying she has something else for me.
Surprisingly, she pulled out an envelope and handed it to me. “Open it and see,” She insisted.
This felt strange, but I did as she wanted. And when I checked…
“What’s… What’s this?”
I was staring at a wedding invitation card with mine and Estelle’s name on it.
“It’s the first wedding card for our big day, my love,” She revealed, wrapping her arms around me.
I stared, feeling heat engulfing my body while Estelle kept talking about our wedding and how she had selected a date for us.
“We can finally be a happy family with our little one, Argon. I’ve chosen the perfect date. Oh yes! Once Brielle is back, we’re going to tell her to start the preparation for…”
“No! ” I raised my voice, shocking Estelle.
“We’re… I…” I stammered, tossing the card aside. “I don’t approve this, Estelle. We won’t be getting married on this date.”
“But Argon, we don’t have much time to…”
“Estelle!” I sparked, causing her to shiver before me.
Calming my mood, I repeated my words, objecting to her plans. “I don’t approve this, Estelle. I am not ready for it.”
She stared at me with sadness in her eyes, accepting my order. “Okay, as you say.”
“Good.” I leaned against my seat, still stunned by her action.
Why is she rushing?
