ESTELLE
As promised, my Argon drove me back to my place that evening.
I sat in right beside him, leaning against the seat like one who’s about to faint. I kept swaying my head left and right, so he’d keep on looking and checking on me.
When we arrived at my home, I decided to act like I didn’t care about him, attempting to step out of the car myself.
But Argon immediately came out and opened the door, lifting me into his arms, gently.
“You know you don’t have to do this. I can walk on my two legs.”
“Not in this condition,” He said, walking towards the mansion.
My face flushed at his words, but I hid it away from him.
When he stepped into the mansion with me in his arms, father, who turned out to be present in the living room, gasped on seeing us together.
I could see the delight in his eyes. He must be proud of his baby girl.
“Estelle, what happened?” Father asked, drawing closer to us.
Argon gently dropped me down on the couch, stepping away from us, while father came closer, kneeling next to me.
“I came back and found the house messy. The helpers said you were unstable.”
“I’m sorry, Dad. I don’t know what happened. I wasn’t feeling like myself, so I went over to stay with Argon. But then I lost balance and he took care of me, ” I said sounding like a weakling with my eyes dimming halfway.
When I said this, father faced Argon and began to thank him. “I don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t there to help my girl. Thank you, son.” He took hold of his hand, shaking it with emotions in his eyes.
Argon hummed at my father before dropping his gaze on me. “Take care of yourself,” He said, turning around to leave.
“Let me see you off, please, ” Father requested. And Argon didn’t object to his wish.
This was indeed a sign that things were going well for me.
As soon as they both left the living room, I sat up, stretched out my arms, and gave a big sigh of relief.
“Oh, today was beautiful!” I cheered, thrilled over Argon’s behavior.
Father soon returned after seeing Argon off. He was curious to know what had happened, that made Argon to suddenly change towards me.
I told him all that occurred when I got to the mansion and how he took good care of me till the evening.
“Really?” Father was amused.
I nodded. “Yes, father. He was being caring towards our baby. He was so loving. And the best part of it was Brielle. She was watching. You need to see how she stared in jealousy,” I laughed out excitedly.
“Very good, Estelle. Seems someone’s fatherly instinct is kicking in already. Continue with whatever you’re doing and in no time, we’ll have Argon on our side again. ”
“Yes, father, ” I agreed, feeling so pleased.
.
That same night, at around ten, I was already in bed, getting ready to sleep when my phone suddenly began to ring.
“Argon,” I assumed, rushing to answer the call.
But when I picked it and checked, it was Jerome’s number that was on the screen. “Oh, the beta. I bet he wants to congratulate me on my first step to success,” I bragged, answering the call. Only for him to notify me of the Hunter’s arrival.
“You have to come down to Wolf crest this night before he sets out on his mission. You’re needed, ” Jerome said, ending the call.
“Come down by this time? What is wrong with that man?!” I groaned, feeling uncomfortable.
It’s time for me to sleep and he’s already calling me over to come and see his hunter friend?
“Gosh! Well, it’s for my safety, as well as my baby’s. I have to go.”
Quickly, I got dressed and left the mansion without telling father about it. He might think I’m being delusional about that beast and might try to stop me.
I arrived outside wolf crest to meet Jerome waiting for me. He was standing beside a muscular man, who had scars across his face.
That was enough to show he was a fierce hunter in this business of his.
Jerome introduced me to his friend and told me to tell him everything I know about the green-eyed wolf. I agreed and narrated my experience, describing all the troubles I went through in the hands of that monster.
A hum escaped this huge fellow’s lips, before he looked at Jerome and said in his deep voice, “Sounds like an abominable being. But if you did see such a thing, I’m going to fish it out.”
I felt pleased at his words.
“Please do. Who knows when that abomination would strike back again. She can be hard to put down, ” Jerome added, handing the hunter a bag containing the cloth the beast had trampled on.
“And… And also…” I drew forward, remembering another important detail about the wolf. “She knows how to mimick voices. She can use any voice to trick you and… And also manipulate shadows.”
“Really?” Jerome looked stunned, probably finding this impossible.
The hunter took note of this and assured us of a feedback. “No need to be worried. I’ll get the beast before it attacks again. I’m sure you won’t be seeing him or her anytime soon, ” He boasted.
And trust me, I was loving this.
The man soon left, exiting through the woods, while Jerome and I walked back to our vehicles.
“It can mimic voices and shadows? ” Jerome asked, lifting his brow at me.
“Yeah, it does, ” I answered, reminding him of the night it first attacked me, and telling him how it used Argon’s voice and shadow to lure me out.
“Shit! This is indeed a beast from hell. Such a creature needs to be eliminated as soon as possible.”
“Exactly.”
We kept on walking.
“You know you could have just asked me to narrate everything through the phone than bringing me out here. Was it necessary?” I questioned, shielding myself from the cold.
“Yes, it was. As long as we’re both facing this problem as a team, one person can’t be out here struggling in the cold night, and the other is busy relaxing in her warm bed,” He mocked, walking ahead of me.
I grumbled at his behavior. He’s slowly losing his respect towards me. So, is this how he’s going to treat me when I finally get Argon to settle down with me?
“I’ll put him in his place. He shouldn’t forget that I’m carrying Argon’s heir.” I rolled my eyes, approaching my car.
Just as I was about to step into the vehicle, Jerome said, “I saw what happened today. You really made Alpha Argon your puppet by using your condition.”
I smirked with pride and said, “The dizziness was real, but now I’m going to keep using it on him, until that spell casted by Brielle is gone.”
“Good. Keep on with it. I’m sure he’ll leave her soon, and you’ll get your place back, ” He said, opening the door on my behalf.
I got in, assuring him that I wasn’t going to give up. “I’m going to get my Argon back, no matter what.” I shut the car and drove off, heading back to Red Wood with a plan in mind.
.
With the show coming up in two days time, I decided to use that opportunity to keep Argon in the dark, so he won’t know about it.
Although he called to check up on me that morning, I was acting like one who didn’t care at all.
“I contacted Doctor Nicole and told her what had happened. She said it’s part of the pregnancy symptoms.”
“Hmm. Yes, it is, ” I responded.
“Just take care of yourself and the baby. I may come around this evening to check up on you.”
“Okay, ” I said, ending the call on Argon.
This was thrilling.
I went over to the modelling ground for training, ignoring Maya and the others from mock me.
I was full of delight, enjoying myself. But once it was almost evening, I raced back home, waiting for Argon’s arrival. And he did show up, with some nice gifts he bought on his way here.
Father wasn’t around to witness his future son-in-law at work. Argon was trying his best to take care of me while putting on a grumpy face.
“Don’t think I’ve forgiven you for what you did, Estelle. I’m only helping out because of the baby,” He said, trying to sound cruel.
I hummed at his words, accepting his decision. “It’s okay. I understand,” I said, looking away.
When the D day for the show came, I told my father before leaving the mansion, to act like he didn’t know about it.
“You’ll head over to Argon’s place when the show is about to start, and ask for me. Just… You know what to do, right?”
“I do, my girl. Trust your father, ” He assured me, patting my head.
I left the mansion and down to the venue, getting ready for the show to begin.
“So, you made it huh? ” Maya had asked me mockingly, while admiring her dress, which was supposed to be mine.
“Are you sure you can step out and show your face to the world? I mean with your past… Won’t everyone run away when they see you?” Maya smirked, getting the others to laugh.
I scoffed at them and said, ” I am a princess after all. Being part of the news is an everyday routine for me. At least I’m well known, unlike you unpopular puppies.” I chuckled.
They rolled their eyes at my words, crossing their arms.
Maya scoffed and told the others to let me be. “She’s just trying to make herself feel better, since she no longer has her lover to hold her close,” She bemocked, getting them to laugh.
I groaned while watching them leave with their clothes. It made me wish I could dig ny claws into their flesh, but I held my temper back.
“Be cool, Estelle. Just be cool, ” I sighed, calming my mood.
“I had other important things to face than those lousy ladies. Soon, they’ll be crawling at my feet when I’m made Argon’s queen.”
Finally, the show started at the exact timing, and every model came out to show off their attire.
When it was my turn, meaning Maya would be the last, I cat walked out on the runway, showing off my dress.
And the moment my eyes caught sight of Argon and father watching me in the crowds, I executed my plan perfectly.
I held my head and faked dizziness, falling into the arms of Maya, who was now behind me.
“What the hell?!” Maya had exclaimed in shock.
My sudden passing out caused an uproar at the show, with everyone mumbling out in surprise.
“Estelle!” Argon’s voice came in.
I was now on the ground because of Maya, who felt irritated to hold on to me. But I didn’t need her help when my Argon was here.
He dived in immediately and took me away from the show, straight down to the hospital.
I was admitted at once by Doctor Nicole, who advised Argon to watch over me. “She’s pregnant for heaven sake! She needs to stop her work for now, otherwise it would affect the little one. Just try to take good care of her as much as possible, please, ” She advised.
I laid there in bed, watching how my Argon’s mood changed. He must be feeling guilty for putting me in this condition. That’s what I want.
Alone with me, Argon asked, ” Why didn’t you tell me you had a show? You know you aren’t feeling well, but you still went there!”
“Why are you acting like you care, huh? You don’t want to have anything to do with me, so why showing this fake affection?” I questioned, expressing my sadness.
“When the man I love and the father of my baby has chosen not to forgive me over the past, what did you expect me to do? I had to look for ways to get myself and wipe out every sorrow in my heart. You don’t care about me, yet you’re acting like you do!” I said, sniffing out.
Then, I began to shed tears, expressing my love for Argon and how I miss him so much. He stared at my wet eyes but couldn’t say a word.
“I’ve decided to take care of this child on my own. You don’t have to act like you care about it. ”
“Estelle,” He called, drawing nearer to me. And for the first time in a while, my Argon embraced me!
I buried myself in his hold, as he apologized for ignoring me due to my mistakes. “I’ll make it up to you, I promise. ”
“Thank you, ” I cried, hugging him back.
At last, the goddess has heard my prayers. My Argon has accepted me back into his life.
I was discharged from the hospital and brought back to Wolf Crest pack. Argon told my father he’d watch over me for tonight, and Dad didn’t object at all.
In fact, he was happy.
“Call me if you need anything, okay princess?” Father had said, caressing me.
I nodded, before following Argon to his mansion.
When we arrived, Jerome and a few servants were already waiting for me. It turns out that Argon had contacted him to get a room set for me.
I was treated with so much respect by the servants. A nice warm bath was waiting for me in the new room, which was beside Argon’s.
After getting cleaned up, I decided to pay Argon a visit in his room. But on stepping out, I met Brielle and that annoying maid of hers, heading to their room, which was right next to mine.
How repulsive! But, this was a chance to make my place in this house.
With pride, I stood in Brielle’s way and said, “Fancy seeing you here, Ex-Luna.”
“Um… I live here. I should be the one saying that to you, ” Brielle corrected.
But I don’t care.
“I know you heard what happened and must be feeling upset that the real Luna is back. Yes, my Argon has forgiven his true queen, and I’m here to stay.”
“Awww! Good for you. I thought he would never take you back, since you’re fond of causing problems in his life. But we thank the heavens, ” Brielle smiled, annoying me with her words.
She can’t bring me down.
With a smirk, I rubbed my tummy in front of her and said, “The goddess took pity on my baby and heard our prayers. Being the mother of the future heir, it’s important for my baby to be closer to his father. Isn’t that right, Brielle? ”
I was expecting her to feel upset on hearing me mention the child, but this weirdo didn’t care at all!
“I hope it’s the goddess you prayed to and not the devil? You know when prayers are made, the devil is also hanging around, seeking for prayer points to also answer. I’m just saying so you don’t make any mistake, okay? ” She grinned, waving at me.
I groaned at this as she walked pass me, heading for her room.
“Brat! I know you’re jealous. You’re just hiding it. I’ll make sure you break, no matter what, ” I vowed.
