CHAPTER 85

ESTELLE
I am not seeing things.
That monster is real!
All these time I’ve been thinking I was running mad over an imaginary creature that never existed. It made me scared of myself, to the point of fearing for me unborn baby.
But now… I know the truth.
I’m still in shock!
“But how… How did she get to you? What did you do? ” I asked Jerome, finding this strange.
Not that I have any hint on why that beast is attacking us, but if Jerome can give me a hint, maybe I’ll search myself and see if I’ve done such a thing in the past.
But he swayed his head, saying ‘No’.
“I don’t know what I did to trigger that Wolf’s attention. It attacked me while I was carrying out my mission at the company. You need to see the mess it left behind. Now Alpha Argon has a lot of spending to do, just to get that place fixed, ” He shared.
This wasn’t satisfying. It only brought more fear to my heart.
I trembling close to my father’s desk, wondering what would happen to me and my baby, if that beast should come back to fine me.
“Now that I know she’s real, I bet she’s looking for a way to get me. I can’t allow her to harm my baby. I can’t,” I panicked, getting terrified.
But Jerome assured me that such won’t happen again. “Not if we find that beast first and take her down,” He said, sounding confident.
“Look, I know a tracker. He’s a skilled hunter and knows how to sniff out the tinest creature in a jiffy.”
“Really?” I felt relieved on hearing this.
Jerome told me about this Hunter’s past works and assured me of our safety. “I’m sure he’ll find this wolf and tell us where she’s hiding. Such a beast must be eliminated before it kills us, ” He said, tightening his fist.
“So, did you tell Argon about it? What did he say? ” I asked, hoping for a positive answer.
But Jerome delivered the opposite, telling me how Argon laughed and accused him of making up stories to cover up his own act.
This is the same asshole who mocked me when I was being attacked by that green-eyed freak. Now that he’s a victim of its attack, he’s being all serious.
Well, let him handle the case by himself. He’s the man here.
“I’ll give him the cloth I wore during that attack. He should be able to sniff out that demon, ” Jerome planned.
He then tells me to be cautious of my environment and call whenever I’m being chased by the creature.
I nodded, feeling glad that I wasn’t alone in this battle anymore. Jerome has also seen this beast, meaning I’m not insane.
“Whatever we need to do to kill that wolf, I’m in, ” I supported.
.
That evening, I had two guards guiding my room while four maids stood by my bed, watching me rest.
After hearing Jerome’s story, I’ve been feeling scared to go anywhere by myself. That beast could be watching, patiently waiting for me to be alone, so she’d attack.
She almost killed me the last time, but I survived. But now that I’m carrying a baby in my womb, I feel so terrified.
“Don’t worry, my angel. Nothing will happen to you. Mommy will protect you,” I whispered to my child, stroking my tummy.
“You have both your mother’s love and your…” I paused, recalling what Jerome had said about Brielle and Argon.
“She’s smarter than you… You’re going to lose to her…” Jerome’s voice echoed in my head, bringing discomfort.
I couldn’t stand to hear about that woman anymore! She’s the reason behind my current situation.
“If only she signed those papers and left our lives, I wouldn’t be alone by now. But I’m so lonely without my Argon. I miss my sweetheart so much. He no longer cares about me or about his child, ” I whined within, recalling that award ceremony.
When Brielle was smiling out to the crowds, I saw how she dropped her gaze at me, giving a smirk.
I was so mad at Argon for giving her the award, that I failed to pick that expression on time. But now, I understand it clearly. She was sending me a message.
“You’re showing your true self, huh Brielle? You always pretend to be so innocent, whereas you’re a crook. I won’t allow you to steal my Argon from me. He’s mine alone!”
Furious, I sat up and demanded for my phone from the maids. One of them picked it up from the table beside my bed, and handed it to me.
Right there, I placed a call through to Jerome, asking for some information on Argon.
“Tell me, what time tomorrow?” I asked.
.
The following morning, I got all dressed for my outing. Daddy had gone to the office to attend to some important work, while his princess was heading out to claim her place.
One of the guards drove me out from Red wood pack in one of father’s car, and brought me down to Argon’s company.
The area was so quiet, yet I could still hear a buzzing sound coming from inside the building.
“What’s going on here?” I cat walked into the company and didn’t see a single worker around. It felt like they had gone on a holiday or something.
“Jerome said he’ll be here at this time, but it feels like I’m the only living soul around.” I frowned at this, doubting that beta’s words.
“Is he making a fool out of me? Now I’m beginning to think his so-called claim of being attacked by that wolf, was a lie.”
Still, the buzzing sound from the middle floor was enough to show that someone was around.
“Maybe Argon is there. I’ll check, ” I decided, going to the lift. But it was out of service. I had to take the staircase, climbing and panting out with tiredness.
Right there, I was ready to give up and leave the building, only for me to hear a familiar voice from above, calling out to Argon.
“Focus on what you’re doing. I’m serious, Argon. Stop it!”
“Is that… Brielle?!” I recognized immediately, getting angry.
“What is she doing here with my Argon?!”
I stormed up the stairs, following her voice. She was busy talking to my sweetheart, and I could hear Argon’s voice joining in. He sounded… So pleased!
When I finally arrived at the floor, I stormed in and saw Argon and Brielle sitting on a table while watching a group of men fixing the elevator.
They both saw me and were stunned.
“Estelle? What are you doing here? ” Argon questioned, getting off the table and drawing nearer to me.
Brielle remained sitted, taking her gaze to the men at work.
I frowned at this, but faced my sweetheart, rushing towards him.
“Argon, my love. I came by to see you,” I said, about to hug him. But Argon stopped me from getting closer to him.
This ached my heart.
I had to pretend to be fine with this, asking what was happening.
“I came and met the place empty. It’s this buzzing noise that…” The moment I turned to look at the workers, I was stunned to see a hole on the elevator door they were removing.
Not just the hole, but the tables piled at a corner and the scratch marks on the wall!
“Holy Moly! Is this what Jerome was talking about?” I gazed, believing his words.
“What are you doing here, Estelle? Aren’t you supposed to be at your place, watching over yourself?” Argon questioned, looking displeased by my presence.
“As you can see, I’m busy. It’s best you leave. You can call or text me, but for now, head home.”
“Why?” I asked, frowning at this.
I looked at Brielle and noticed how she kept stealing glances at us.
This provoked me to the point questioning her presence at the company. “If you’re so busy, why is she here? Isn’t she a worker like the others that are absent? Even your Beta isn’t here.”
“And that isn’t your business, Estelle. At least she plays a role as my secretary. I need her, ” He answered, making me upset.
“I see. Okay then. In that case, I’m staying until this work is over.”
“Estelle!” Argon groaned, making an attempt to grab my arms.
But suddenly, Brielle told him to let me be. “You shouldn’t ignore her wish, Argon. After all, she’s going to be your wife one day. Let her stay, ” She said.
And to my surprise, Argon obeyed her! Just like Jerome had said. He dances to her tune.
“Just sit down there and don’t bother us, ” He said, walking back to the table to site with Brielle.
I watched how he dropped all his attentions on this woman, smiling whenever she said something to him.
“Goddess, my man is being taken from me, right before my eyes. What can I do? Show me a way!”
