JEROME
“Did that just happen or was I dreaming?”
“No, you weren’t. I saw it too.”
“I can’t believe he did that just to get her forgiveness.”
“Isn’t that adorable?”
What a shame! The servants are busy gossiping about my Master from behind, talking about what occurred in the open hall.
They weren’t the only ones who were shocked by what he did, I was.
A whole Alpha went on his knees to beg that worthless woman? I thought my apology was the one that would make her change her mind, but no… It was my Master’s.
She was waiting for him to do the same begging like I did.
“That woman turned out to be cunning like a fox. She wasn’t after my pleading but Alpha Argon’s. Now she has made him a topic in this useless servant’s mouths.”
I was annoyed at this, recalling how she stopped him from touching her feet with his forehead, agreeing to return back to work.
All these was a clear proof that she wants to rule over everyone, including Alpha Argon.
“Look at how he shamed himself before his own helpers! I’ll have to get Alpha Deron and Estelle on this real quick. If care isn’t taken, Brielle will send us packing,” I panicked, racing down to the study room to give them a call.
I could only reach Alpha Deron, who began to ask for an update.
“Be expecting me at your company tomorrow. Bring your daughter along,” I said, ending the call without any delay.
I can’t allow Alpha Argon to catch me talking to the people he now despises with passion. I need to be careful.
.
The following day, since I was on suspension, I waited patiently for Alpha Argon to leave the mansion before I made my move down to Red Wood pack.
Alpha Deron was calling my phone on my way there, curious to know if I was still coming or not.
I kept telling him to wait for me since I was driving, but this impatient wolf kept calling and calling. Well, I didn’t pick until I was parking right outside his company.
One of his guards who was standing outside, came towards my car to welcome me.
“Alpha Deron is waiting for you,” He said, leading the way.
I followed him from behind, until we arrived at the door of Alpha Deron’s office. “He’ll see you, ” He said, walking away.
I drew nearer to the slight opened door and heard both father and daughter talking. It was mostly Estelle’s voice I heard. She was complaining about Alpha Argon.
“He hasn’t called me all these days, father. No text message, nothing! At least an email would be okay, but it will harm my emotions if he sends it from there. I’m the mother of his unborn child!” She whined, irritating me to the core.
“When you’re sitting around waiting for the angel of miracles to descend, did you think he’d just pick up his phone and call you? ” I interrupted their conversation, stepping into the office.
Both of them were stunned to see I had arrived.
“Jerome.” Alpha Deron rose to his feet.
“What do you mean by that rubbish?” Estelle questioned, getting offended by my words.
Instead of an apology, I scoffed at her and kept on talking. “That rubbish is the clear truth, future Luna. That’s if that title doesn’t end up in another person’s hand,” I mocked, annoying Estelle.
She groaned at me and said, pointing her finger at me, “Respect yourself, Beta! You are before an Alpha and a Princess!”
“And you’re before the Beta of your future husband, who is now at the verge of losing his title, because the so-called future Luna is sitting idle, waiting for her lovely Alpha to come and pick her up. That only exists in fairytales, my lady.”
My words came hitting hard, provoking Estelle further.
She wasn’t using her senses at that point, except her father. He immediately held his daughter from speaking, asking me, “What do you mean by your statement, Jerome?”
With a smirk, I answered him. “My Alpha has suspended me from work, all because of Brielle.”
“What?!” They both exclaimed, surprised at the info.
I told them about the plan I made and how it flopped unexpectedly. “The tables came turning on me in an instant. My Alpha now listens to every word Brielle says. He even sent me to go and seek for her forgiveness before I can get my job back. But when I did, she rejected it.”
“Wait, Brielle? That same whimp?!” Estelle gasped at this.
I shared last night’s drama and how Alpha Argon almost worshipped Brielle like his goddess. This provoked Estelle, who blurted out in anger, ” This is your fault! If you were good with your job, he wouldn’t have allowed that woman to control him in the first place!”
“My fault? Listen Princess, all these wouldn’t have happened if you and your father hadn’t abandoned my Alpha when he needed your help! You are the ones who paved way for that woman!” I accused them strongly, silencing Estelle.
She couldn’t respond back because she knows I’m telling the truth.
Alpha Deron still wanted to make it look like the fault came from my end, but I’m no foolish Beta who’ll stand and take someone’s blame.
“Oh, don’t say that Alpha Deron. The moment you and your daughter turned your backs on my Alpha, you killed every respect and hopes he had in you two. And when Brielle came in to save the day, Alpha Argon had considered her his savior. And you were asking why he gave his award to Brielle before all and not your daughter. What has she ever done for his company aside from spending his money?”
“Beta, mind how you speak. You are in my pack.”
“Yeah, I know that, Alpha. That’s why I’m speaking like this, expressing my feelings!” I raised my voice, stunning them even more.
Taking a deep breathe, I cooled my temper and said to them, “My coming here isn’t to bring up the past but to tell you and your daughter to start taking actions instead of waiting for me. Alpha Argon is dancing to Brielle’s tunes, viewing her as his only hope.”
“He can’t. I am his baby’s mother.”
“Yeah, indeed. But has he ever called you to know how you’re doing? Did he come over to see you and your baby? No, ” I silenced her.
She groaned at this, crossing her arms in embarrassment.
“You are busy waiting for him to magically change his mind and come to see you, when Brielle is a thousand steps ahead of you. Your sweet Alpha is busy following her around, taking her to lavish restaurants, buying her expensive gifts.” I chuckled, swaying my head at her.
I noticed her hand tightening into a fist, as she said, hiding her shame, ” Well… She’s still the same weakling of before. All we need to do is break her spirit and find a way to make Argon hate her again.”
“You still don’t get it, do you?” I narrowed my brow at a foolish Estelle.
“Brielle isn’t the woman of before. She is completely different,” I pointed out.
“I have seen this with my own eyes, and trust me Estelle, you are going to lose if you don’t act fast, because the Brielle of now is way smarter than you. There’s no need for her to raise a finger to get Alpha Argon at her feet. She uses her brain! She’s sharper than you think.”
Estelle gazed at me in shock, looking at her father for a solution. Even Alpha Deron didn’t know what to say.
“If you don’t want your future son-in-law to dump your daughter with her pregnancy, it’s best you two start acting on it. This is no one-man army job, it requires more heads,” I lectured.
Alpha Deron immediately agreed to my words, nodding at this. He decided to act fast.
“Excuse me, ” He said, leaving Estelle and I behind.
I was now alone with his daughter, who wasn’t just a pain in one’s neck but the only partner I need in solving the next case.
Estelle, who was mad at the way I spoke, made an attempt to leave. But I immediately stood in her path, blocking the way.
“Do you mind? I need to leave.”
“Not now, Estelle. Right now, we both have an issue we need to focus on. It’s… It’s on a common enemy, ” I said.
She scoffed and thought I was talking about Brielle. “I know that, genius. Now will you…”
“It’s not Brielle. This is about that creature you talked about.”
“What… Are you talking about?” She asked, slowly wiping her anger away.
“The black wolf? You remember the beast you talked about with green eyes, don’t you? ” When I mentioned that, Estelle’s eyes came large.
I saw her body vibrate on hearing those words ‘Green Eyes’ from my mouth.
“What about it? Let me guess… You want to mock my insanity and make me feel helpless?” She questioned, dimming her eyes at me.
But I told her I wasn’t here for such.
“Then why are you talking about an imaginary being?”
“Because it’s real! ” I revealed, shocking Estelle.
“What?”
“I saw it, Estelle. It’s real like crazy! That monster also attacked me and… If I begin to tell you how it tormented me in one night, you’ll cry on my behalf.”
Estelle’s mouth came wide open. She drew back from me, shaking.
“She’s real? So… So that means I wasn’t losing my senses. She’s real!”
The fear in her voice was legit. Who knows what hell she went through in the hands of that beast.
“Yes, that beast is real. That’s why I’m here to see you before she comes back to harm us both again,” I said, drawing nearer to Estelle.
If Estelle has come face to face with the creature more than two times, then that means she’d do the same with me.
And I can’t go through that brutal attack anymore.
