JEROME
This can’t be possible!
Green eyes?
I stared at this monster, who rose on its two feet in the darkness, chuckling deeply.
The sight of this beast took my mind back to the night Estelle complained to Alpha Argon and I about a Green-eyed wolf attacking her at the mansion.
“So, she was telling the truth? There’s indeed a wolf with green eyes?! But how’s this possible? This… This is not normal!”
Never in my life have I heard about a Green-eyed wolf. Not to mention a wolf that’s taller than a normal werewolf.
This is an abomination!
“But how did it get into the company? Who’s this person hiding behind this monster?” I questioned with so much fear in my heart.
And why the fear?
My wolf.
It suddenly became weak at the sight of this beast. Now I understand how Estelle felt when she was running around the mansion, screaming out for help.
No doubt, this beast is here for me. And it’s obvious I can’t leave this place without a fight. But with the way my wolf is trembling within…
“I don’t stand a chance. I have to run quickly!” I planned, looking at the lift.
“With my speed, I’m sure I can get that lift open and escape. But what if it’s faster than me? Then the staircase it is.” I plotted out my escape, getting set to dash off.
The moment this monster roared, charging at me, I dashed out of the way, running into the left path where the staircase was located.
I ran with all my strength, holding the folder close.
The lights began to flicker, brightening my path a bit. I could see the door where the staircase was located, right ahead of me.
“Come on legs! Faster! ” I yelled at myself, applying more speed.
When I held the knob, swinging the door wide open…
“COME HERE!!” The deep voice of this monster roared from behind, taking me from the back neck!
To my surprise, I found myself being lifted off the ground from the point of the door and flung over like a trash bag, smashing into a wall.
I groaned when my body met the ground. It became hard to rise because of the sudden weakness engulfing me. When I lifted my head, I saw this black demon coming with speed.
It didn’t give me the chance to stand on my two legs. It launched its fist at my face, sending me flying and crashing into a table.
This monster is out for blood! And it wants mine!
“I thought you were the Alpha’s Beta. Is this how weak you are?! You’re so useless and pathetic! ”
Where I was laying, I felt my wolf growling in anger on hearing how this beast mocked us.
“Show me some man power, Beta! I want to see what you’re capable of. Or are you just a beta for nothing?”
“SHUT IT, YOU ABOMINATION!” I growled out, feeling my wolf unleashing it’s power.
Strength overwhelmed my body taking away the pains this beast had given me. I got to my feet and felt my eyes switching to my Wolf’s.
When this Green-eyed wolf saw this, it grinned with delight.
I saw hunger buried in its eyes.
“That’s more like it. Show me what you can do, you pathetic beta!” The black wolf dared me menacingly.
In rage, I sprung out my claws and charged at this demon. I’m going to kill it before it can get to me.
With a flash, I attacked this beast, throwing my fists at it, but it felt like I was doing nothing.
I was putting a lot of effort, swooshing my hands around with multiple attacks, but all it did was stand openly, using only one hand to fight back!
What kind of a creature is this?! It’s making me look like a fool.
In rage, I moved to the back of this wolf, wrapping my arm around the neck for a choke-lock.
“If I can use my strength to choke this beast, it will fall weak. The neck area is one of the weakest part of a werewolf.”
But despite all this, this monster was laughing in mockery!
“Yawn, Yawn, Yawn. I feel sorry for your Alpha. If his Beta is this weak, then I wonder how terrible he must be!”
All of a sudden, this wolf grabbed my head with its big large hand, and slammed me to the ground right in its front.
My mouth came wide, with the taste of blood filling my mouth! My back bone almost shifted due to the impact from this beast. It sent my wolf hiding at once!
“No! Not now!” I groaned, trying to force my wolf out, but it refused.
I thought the beast would let me go, but no. It wasn’t done with me.
“You wasted your energy throwing that weak punch. Let me show you how its done.”
I saw it lifting its left hand which was folded into a strong fist, launching it down at me for a powerful punch.
As soon as I saw this, I quickly rolled out of its grip and got to my feet, set to escape for the staircase.
The file I stole was close to by. I immediately grabbed it and ran off. I didn’t bother to look back but raced down the steps, panting and coughing out blood.
I was stunned!
“Just that slam and I’m already bleeding?” Horror engulfed my body, as I increased my speed.
“ARE YOU RUNNING FROM ME, BETA?” I heard it’s voice echoing from above.
When I poked my head to the middle to see how far I was, my heart skipped in fear when I saw those two green eyes shimmering at me from above.
“THERE YOU ARE, YOU RAT! I’M GOING TO GET YOU!” It laughed, dashing down the stairs to get me!
In terror, I ran into the nearest floor and raced for the lift. “If I take the stairs any further, I’d be dead!” I trembled.
As I ran towards the active lift, I could hear the heavy pace of this beast drawing closer. It sent chills down my spine, leaving my heart pounding for help.
The lift came open and I threw myself in, pressing the button for it to shut close.
Suddenly, the door I came from, flew into a corner with force. I gasped in fear and saw this black demon staring at me with its glowing green eyes darting my way.
It growled when it saw the lift closing up, dashing towards me.
“CLOSE! CLOSE!! CLOSE!!!” I screamed, begging the lift.
Luckily, it came shut, but it didn’t stop this monster from hitting the door with its strength, trying to force its way in.
I drew back in horror, watching how this beast punched a hole through the lift, giving me a death stare from the other side, before the lift went down quickly, saving me.
But I wasn’t out of danger yet.
“It must be heading for the staircase, ” I panicked, looking at the numbers counting down.
Immediately it got to the down floor, I dashed out of the lift and right outside the company, getting into my car.
There was no need to wait and see where this demon was. My life is more important than any investigation.
“OPEN THE GATES!” I roared at the security guards, racing out of the premises, panting out in fear.
“Goddess! Goddess!! Where did that abomination come from?! How did it get there?!” I panted, trying to catch my breathe.
The eyes of that wolf was terrifying. The height and strength… I can’t believe my own wolf was unable to match up with it.
“Pull yourself together, Jerome. You finally escaped that beast. Just relax,” I exhaled out, trying to get myself.
“I almost lost my life tonight. If I didn’t come around to take this document, I wouldn’t have known such a beast exists. Damn!”
I kept driving, trying to take my mind off this terrible experience.
“Where did it come from? And why was it at the company? This… This must be a rival pack at work. Probably King Damien! He must have summoned a demon to ruin the company. I’ll have to tell Alpha Argon about…” I paused, thinking about my Alpha.
“If I tell him what had happened, he’d want to know what I was doing at the company at this hour. No, I won’t say anything,” I decided, driving down to the mansion.
I took a look at the documents I stole from Brielle’s desk, smiling at my success.
“Even though tonight took a drastic turn, I still got this file. That’s still better.” I sighed, feeling great.
When I arrived back at the mansion, looking like one who was picked from the streets, I snuck to the back and burnt the documents.
“Let’s see how you get out of this, Brielle.” I smirked, feeling the victory already.
.
The following day, Alpha Argon came over to break a terrible news about the company and the offices.
“A call came from the company. Someone or something had invaded the building!” He shared, making a run for the exit.
I had to follow from behind, acting all shocked by this news. “Invaded? By who?”
“I can’t say unless we get there. The workers said it’s a disaster,” He said, stepping out of the mansion.
I kept gasping out, pretending not to know what had occurred. That’s when Brielle came racing out to join us, asking what had happened.
Alpha Argon couldn’t speak but suggest we all head down for the company.
And when we arrived…
“What is this?” Alpha Argon stared at the horrible sight of his company.
There were scratch marks, broken tables around, the missing door found at the corner, and the punctured hole in the lift. It left everyone shocked.
“We don’t know what happened. We came here and found it like this,” One of the security guards explained, shivering in his spot.
“It’s true. We were just outside keeping watch. We didn’t see anybody entering. You can ask Be…”
“This must be the work of a rival pack! ” I chipped in, cutting the guards halfway from exposing me.
I can’t allow Alpha Argon to know I was here last night. He’d think I’m responsible! So, I immediately began to pin the blame on King Damien, reminding him of how he always attacked us back then.
“He must have sent his goons to attack this place and this idiots were absentminded, instead of doing their works!” I blamed the guards as well, shifting the problem on them at the right time.
“What?! No, we were working! We swear Sir!” They begged, trying to defend themselves.
But Alpha Argon was mad to the point of threatening the guards. “You are going to face the music if the culprit isn’t found.”
They lowered their head in sadness and left when Alpha Argon sent them away.
Troubled, my Alpha decided to get the authorities involved in the matter.
“That Lycan will get what he wants now. He thinks he can ruin my company and go free? No!” He groaned, taking out his phone to call them.
But he suddenly paused and brought up the matter of the meeting with our business partners.
“We’ll have to use the conference room at the second floor. We can’t allow them to see this mess.”
“I agree. Luna, where’s the file? ” I immediately dived into that, so my Alpha would have more reasons to rage out. Then he’d vent all anger on Brielle.
Brielle lifted her brow at me and said, “The file is in the office.”
“Okay, let’s head there and get it. I need to make sure my office is in order,” Alpha Argon said.
We went to the last floor above and met that area a bit ruined. This troubled Alpha Argon more when he found his office wide open.
I forgot to close it because of that beast.
When he saw this, he immediately ran inside to see if any important thing was missing.
“That madman! He must have sent his men to storm into your office to destroy anything valuable,” I said, acting shocked.
When Brielle went to her desk and opened the drawer… “Where’s the document?” She asked, looking surprised.
I gasped at her words and immediately raised it, so Alpha Argon would hear.
“You lost it?!” I accused.
“What?” His eyes came large, settling them on Brielle.
She pointed at the desk and said, ” I didn’t. The document was here. You saw when I kept it Jerome.”
“Luna, I know you’re confused at the moment, but I didn’t see anything. Just be clean and tell us the truth. You lost the documents, didn’t you?” I kept hitting on that, planting fear in Alpha Argon’s heart.
“You can’t find the files?!” He raised his voice, facing Brielle.
She stared at us, mostly at my Alpha. Her mood looking displeased at his question.
And I felt so pleased when I saw Alpha Argon’s eyes. The anger from the disaster is still within. Adding this now, will cause an explosion.
“Why did you leave it in the office?! Why didn’t you bring it home?!”
“How funny,” She uttered, crossing her arms.
“Aren’t you the one who sent your Beta to tell me to leave the documents at the office?”
“What? I didn’t tell him such. What are you talking about?” Alpha Argon uttered, looking at me.
My whole body quivered at this. I forgot I told her such, but it’s also an opening for me to show my Alpha that I am with him.
“Luna, this is unacceptable! Stop trying to impose your own mistakes on my Alpha. You lost the documents that would be presented at the meeting today! Just be honest.”
“Honest?” She scoffed, smirking at me.
Her face expression left me feeling strange. Is she trying to feel tough by smirking at us?
Well I hate to break it to her, because her boldness can’t work on…
“Here’s the original document you asked for, Luna,” Tania, her maid, came into the office with another folder!
This can’t be possible!
Brielle took the document and said while pulling it out from the folder, “When you came to me, saying Argon wants me to leave the file at the office so I won’t forget it at the mansion, I felt something was off.”
My heart was pounding when I saw the document. It’s indeed the original! So, was that a copy I burnt?
“I decided to make another copy which I left at the company and took the original home. And I’m glad that I did that, because by now…” Brielle walked up to Alpha Argon and slammed the folder at me, glaring at him with anger. “You and your Beta would have accused me of something terrible!”
“What? That’s… Not true. I didn’t tell him to do anything, I swear, ” Alpha Argon defended himself, staring in shock.
I was the one who was astonished the most. How did she do this in my absence? I was following her every movement, so when did she make this copy?!
Despite Alpha Argon’s words, Brielle refused to listen.
“I should have known that your job offer and award presentation was all an act to deceive me. You want to humiliate me before Sir Derek and his friends, isn’t that your plan?!” She roared, getting mad.
Everything was falling apart!
This isn’t how I planned it!
This is wrong!
“Brielle, it’s not like that, please. I really offered you this job from…”
“I don’t want to hear it! Just know that I quit this job and will never help you no matter how important it is!”
Her resignation shocked Alpha Argon. He was horrified by this.
Brielle grabbed her purse and took hold of Tania’s hand, heading for the door. Before she stepped out, she stopped and said, ” And if you say you don’t know anything, then ask your Beta this question…”
Me?
Oh shoot! I don’t like where this is going.
She looked back and completed her statement. “Where did he drive off to last night? What was he burning right behind the mansion? Ask him all that question, Argon.”
What?! How did she know?
Brielle stormed out with Tania, leaving me with Alpha Argon. And when I turned to face him, I met his raging eyes falling on me.
