JEROME
“We’ll see who gets the last laugh.”
As Alpha Argon had wished, I gave him the file at the mansion, and he shared the good news with Brielle.
Like always, she didn’t object to the assignment. She gladly accepted it and even teased my Alpha about being silly.
Where I stood behind Alpha Argon… I was smiling, patiently waiting for the plan to begin. And this time around, I’ll make sure I’m close by to make it succeed.
Night, Brielle started the work at the dining room while eating her dinner. When I saw this, I felt it wouldn’t be nice if she works from home instead of the office.
“Working from home won’t be good. I have to fix this, ” I frowned, making my move.
I approached Brielle with a friendly smile, sitting right next to her and also taking a look at her work.
“You’re doing well, Luna. I’m glad Alpha Argon gave this task to you.”
“Really?” She asked, lifting her brow at my direction.
I noticed the strong glare she gave me in an instant. It felt like a dagger, set to Pierce into my heart.
I had to compose my reaction around her, reminding myself of who she was. A weakling who’s trying to feel strong, that is the answer.
“Yes. When Sir Derek and his friends mentioned your name and said you were fit, I also joined them to support your skills. You’re very good at your work,” I praised, grinning at Brielle.
She was still glaring at me but finally gave a smile, chuckling.
What a relief.
“Thank you very much, Beta. I really appreciate your words, ” She said, finally resuming with her work.
Seeing that everything was going fine between us, I ceased that opportunity to make a suggestion. “Can’t you do this at the company? Working here at home will only weaken your zeal.”
She paused her work, dropping her focus on me.
I kept giving her many reasons why the office was better than the mansion, and she listened wholeheartedly!
Perfect!
Brielle nodded at my words and decided to put a stop to the task. “The office it is then. And you’re right. I get cozy real quick when I’m at home.”
“See, that’s what I’m saying.” I cackled along with Brielle.
She closed the folder and took it back to her room, preparing for a good night rest.
“That was successful. I just have to be patient and make my attack at the right time, ” I planned.
.
In the remaining days that came by, I was keeping my eyes on Brielle and also making sure that she didn’t keep the documents out of my sight.
Let’s say I was playing the role of the helpful co-worker. After all, I was the one handling tasks like this before she came into the picture.
Whenever Alpha Argon noticed I was with Brielle, while she was attending to the project, I’d immediately act like the one showing her what to do.
I don’t know if Brielle noticed my behavior or switch of character. I couldn’t tell, because she was just going with the flow like someone who was clueless.
After monitoring Brielle carefully, the D day was finally near.
This was just a day to the deadline and Alpha Argon sent me to go and see Brielle, so I’d remind her to prepare herself for tomorrow.
“She’ll be present at the conference room with us. Make sure she’s fully prepared. What am I saying?” He came out laughing, patting my shoulder.
“She is always ready, ” He laughed once more, swaying his head.
I had to join him, so he won’t feel something was off with me. I chuckled, agreeing with his words about Brielle.
But tomorrow will be the end of that statement when I get my hands on those files.
As he wished, I went to see Brielle and told her what Alpha Argon had said. But not the complete truth.
“He said you should leave the documents at the office, so you won’t forget it at the mansion, ” I lied to her.
She nodded at my words and immediately walked up to her desk in the office, opened the first drawer and placed the file in it.
“First drawer. Good, ” I noted, pretending to be busy with my phone.
“That’s much better,” She had said, approaching me.
“How about we grab some lunch? We didn’t have the time to take any meal from home before coming here,” She invited, taking the lead.
Since I was full of spirit, I agreed to join her in her final days as a secretary.
“Sure, I’m starving,” I said, exiting the office with Brielle.
After the closing hours, Alpha Argon, Brielle and I, drove down to the mansion, getting ready for the big day tomorrow. I decided to wait for the right time to clock, before I make my move.
At eleven in the night, when I was sure everyone would be asleep, I snuck out of the mansion, got into one of the cars and drove off immediately.
The guards who were on duty had seen me leaving. They didn’t bother to ask any question since I’m the Beta of this pack.
I drove quickly on the silent highway, until I was pulling right into the company’s premises.
The security guards on duty had to open up when they saw me. They were confused, wondering why I was here by this time.
With a strong authoritative voice, I told them not to poke in business matters. “Are you the ones who’ll handle the pending works?!” I roared out.
“No sir. We’re sorry, ” They apologized, standing aside.
I carefully parked the car in front of the dark and quiet company, heading inside like one who was on a serious mission.
Of course I’m on a mission, and that’s to remove Brielle once and for all. She can’t take my position in Alpha Argon’s life. She has to go.
Stepping into the quiet building, I took the active lift for the top floor where my Alpha’s office was located.
When I arrived at the last floor, I immediately hurried into the office, using my Alpha’s key. I took it without his knowledge. It’s the only key to his office.
I got in and immediately rushed to Brielle’s desk, opening the drawer and pulling out the file.
“Here you are. Your destruction is my enemy’s downfall, ” I smiled, about to pull the papers out when suddenly…
DING!!
“What was that?!” I shivered at the sound of something metallic that fell from outside the office. It almost made me drop the folders on the floor, but I didn’t.
“Did one of those guards follow me or what? ” I groaned, believing one of those dummies came inside to look for me.
I held the folder closely, stepping out of the office to meet it quiet and… Empty. No single soul around, except me.
“Where’s the guard? ” I wondered, turning around to shut the door. Only for the metal sound to come in again, but louder this time.
My whole body shook when I heard it, causing me to turn back and look. That’s when I saw a metallic vase, rolling out from one of the office.
“Wait, I thought that door was locked?” I noticed the opened door where the metal vase had rolled out from. It wasn’t opened when I came in here.
“Who’s there?!” I raised my voice, slowly drawing closer to the door.
The metal vase had settled in the center, swaying in its spot with speed until it stopped.
I was close to the office but could’ve hear a thing.
“It must be a guard,” I believed, stepping out fully to see who was in the office.
But as soon as I placed one leg out, the whole light on that floor went off, leaving me in total darkness.
“Damn it! Why now?!” I grumbled in the dark, hovering my eyes around just to adjust to the blackness with my wolf vision.
As soon as I switched my sight…
GRR!!
“Is that… Is that a wolf?”
I froze in my spot, navigating my eyes towards the direction of the growl. It’s… coming from my right hand side. That’s where the opened door is located.
The growling grew deeper and closer, and my nose began to pick an unfamiliar scent that almost weakend my smell.
This doesn’t belong to anyone I know. Who owns this scent?
The only way I could find out was by looking into the office. And the moment I did, something came out with full force, slamming me out of the way and straight for the wall!
I was able to tumble and get back on my feet, panting out heavily to catch a quick sight of this animal that had attacked me.
From the scent, it was obvious that this intruder wasn’t from this pack, but a thief or a rival to the company, who had snuck in to steal from us. But I couldn’t tell which particular wolf had this smell.
And I got my answer in no time.
In the dark, I could see something big, something… Large! My wolf eyes could see the height of this wolf. It was… Enormous!
“What in the world are you?” I uttered in disbelief, stunned by the sight of this monstrosity.
And to my greatest surprise, I saw… its eyes!
They glowed in the dark with a deep chuckle that sent a chill down my spine.
“It… it can’t be! Green… eyes? “
