ARGON
Success!
J and B’s CEO fell in love with the document Brielle worked on. In fact, he was impressed to the point of praising me, like I was the one who sorted out the assignment myself.
And when he did so, I was over the moon.
“I’m glad I gave this assignment to you, Argon. Thank you so much.”
“You are always welcome. After all, we’re partners, ” I said, shaking hands with my client.
With gladness, he promised to tell his own partners about the testimony and get them to work with me.
“You are indeed a business man, Argon,” He praised, patting my shoulder with delight.
Indeed, this was a good day for me.
I escorted my partner to his car, wishing him farewell.
Once he was gone, I rejoiced with my Beta, leaving the company early to meet Brielle at home.
She’s the reason behind the success of this job. I want to reward her for it.
“I can’t tell what she wants, unless I meet her. Maybe… Hmm…” I pondered on, getting into my car.
“I was going to say an outing, but I’ll let her pick, ” I decided, driving away from the company and down to the mansion.
But on arrival, I learnt from Tania that Brielle was fast asleep.
“Oh, I see. Maybe later then,” I had said to Tania, heading for my room.
“She needs it, after all she has been working hard. I’ll just see her later when she’s awake.” I smiled, distancing from her room.
.
There were more works coming into the company from our partners and clients.
The important ones which were meant to be handled by Jerome and a little to Brielle, was shifted to Brielle in an instant by my Beta, who felt she’s fit for the work.
“Are you sure about this, Jerome? Won’t the workload be much on her?” I had asked my beta, feeling concerned.
But Jerome chuckled and began to remind me of Brielle’s past works. “You seem to have forgotten how she handled the company’s finances like the boss. If she’s able to do that, then all these works mean nothing to her. So, don’t worry, ” He said, smirking at me.
With all that he had said, I decided to give it a try, hoping Brielle would be able to attend to all the works.
And she didn’t fail me.
She did all the work perfectly well, leaving me impressed. No single mistakes in the documents and no client complained about it.
In fact, they only called to appreciate me for the successful assignment, telling all their friends and partners about me.
And because of that…
RING! RING!!
I got a call from the Business Award Organization. They finally remembered me after all these while!
“We have seen the progress of your work in this few days, and we wish to give you back your award.”
“Is that so?” I grinned, trying to maintain a cool tone of voice. But within, I was excited.
They confirmed it, sharing their plans to organize a special award ceremony just for me. “We have been monitoring your progress and you are at the top again. Seems you have finally proven yourself, Alpha. Congratulations.”
“Thank you, ” I appreciated, struggling to hold my happiness back, but it was just hard.
They shared the date with me and hoped to see me on that day. Once the call ended…
“YES!!” I cheered out, almost tossing the papers on my table to the ground.
Jerome, who was close by, came in to find out what the problem was. That’s how I shared the news with him, turning my office into a celebration ground.
“Congratulations, Alpha. This is so good! ” He cheered, hugging me.
I embraced him back tightly, grateful to the goddess for making all this happen. But it wouldn’t have been possible if Brielle didn’t make my problem a part of her mission.
“I need to share this good news with her. She needs to know,” I said to Jerome, releasing him from my grip.
He agreed with me, suggesting I put a call through to Brielle.
Well, that was my thought.
“I’m sure they’ll be thrilled when they hear the news.”
“They?” I lifted my brow, noticing my Beta wasn’t talking about Brielle.
He kept smiling, answering my question, ” Estelle and Alpha Deron. You said you want to call Estelle to…”
“Why will I call that woman and her father? Did they contribute to my success? ” I questioned my beta, almost losing my temper.
Jerome Immediately apologized to me for the misunderstandings. “I thought you were planning on telling her since she’s the mother of your child.”
“She doesn’t deserve to hear it from me. The person I want to tell is the woman who stood by my side when I was left in the dark,” I corrected my beta, walking out on him and out of my office.
His response had almost ruined my mood, but thinking of Brielle and this award ceremony coming up, filled me with joy once again.
Quickly, I drove back to the mansion to see Brielle, since she was absent from work that day.
When I stepped into the living room where a maid said she had seen Brielle, I found her watching the news of my award ceremony.
The Organization had already announced it to the entire media for everyone to see.
“Damn! They ruined it for me. But it’s still fine, ” I grumbled, wishing I had given Brielle the news before they made it public.
And when I walked in, Brielle saw me. She glanced from the screen then right at my point, letting out a smirk.
“Congratulations, Argon. You’ve been recognized as the number one business man of the year… Again.”
She walked up to me, placing her hand on my shoulder with a light tap on it, saying, ” Keep it up.”
My heart glowed at her words.
She knows well that all these was her doing, but she makes it look like I was the one handling everything.
Why… Why did the goddess bring such a pure soul like her, my way?
I stared at her with a heavy heart, feeling how it pumped at her touch, wishing for something else than just a pat on the shoulder.
“To show my happiness in your success, I’ll personally pick out your suit for that day. That’s if you don’t have a problem with…”
Before she could complete her words, I pulled Brielle closer to myself, wrapping my arms around her for an embrace.
I heard her gasp in my warm hold. She didn’t expect it nor did she struggle with me.
“Yes, you can sort out my suit for that day. I will appreciate it, ” I said calmly, burying my face in her hair with my arms squeezing her tightly a bit.
We’ve never hugged before nor have I made an attempt to hold Brielle like this. But now that I’m embracing her for the first time… Gosh! Her aura is so peaceful!
Why am I just realizing this now?!
I remained in that position while Brielle’s hand came behind my back, patting me.
.
Finally, the D day for the ceremony came.
I was still at the mansion getting ready for this special event, trying out my brand new suit while checking myself in the mirror.
Once I was set, Jerome and I stepped out of the room together, heading for the staircase.
That’s when Brielle’s room door came opened, followed by a beautiful figure in a fitted black dress, stepping out in her heels.
When I saw this, I was blown away.
“Wow!”
Brielle was looking beautiful like a goddess. She had one of those special necklaces gifted to her by my father, around her neck.
Her hair was resting down to her shoulder, bringing out her beauty.
I almost lost myself in her charm, if not for Jerome who snapped me out, asking if I was okay.
I claimed I was fine, but that was a big lie.
“She’s gorgeous,” I admired, smiling at Brielle, who drew closer to us, asking if we were ready.
“You know you have to be there, since you’re the celebrant.” She smirked, leaving me flushing.
“I know that. We’re ready.”
“Good. Let’s go then, ” She said, leading the way.
Jerome and I followed Brielle from behind, until we were outside, taking one of my expensive cars, driven by one of my guards.
We drove down to the venue and were welcomed with flashes of cameras and cheers from other top business bosses like myself.
This gathering was larger than the last one. It was crowded with foreign business tycoons, and most of them were Sir Derek’s partners.
While stepping into the large hall with our guards shielding us from the crowds, we were met by the councils, who attended the event.
Their faces read seriousness, as they watched me like some monitoring agents. But those grumpy looks came fading into smiles when Brielle, who stood next to me, greeted them with respect.
Seems they didn’t come here for me but for her. And because of her presence, they finally spoke to me, wishing me well in the ceremony.
“Thank you, ” I expressed my gratitude, about to bow at them, only for someone I least expected to be present at the event, to interrupt everything.
“Here’s my darling Argon!” Estelle grabbed my arm from the right, chancing Brielle disrespectfully.
Her action didn’t just get me annoyed, but the councils and some of the guests.
“I always knew my boy was meant to be at the top. He has done it again,” Alpha Deron bragged, standing at the other side.
Shit! I should have known that this tick and her father would be here after hearing about the ceremony.
Because of their presence, the councils walked away from my point, leaving me with this… This… Annoying family!
“Let’s move closer to the stage, my love. The ceremony is about to start,” Estelle had said, trying to lead the way.
Out of discomfort, I pulled my arms out of her hold, distancing myself from both father and daughter and trying to catch up with Brielle, who had walked ahead of us.
I rather be around her than with those two.
When the ceremony started, I was called up to the stage to receive my award and speak.
Everyone clapped for me, but Estelle and her father were the loudest, getting attentions on them.
I managed to look away from their point, trying to focus on my speech. But to say something became a problem.
My eyes hovered around the hall, until they fell on Brielle. She was looking at me from below the stage, smiling with encouragement.
And seeing this… I knew what to say.
“You all know what I faced in the past few weeks. So many problems, left and right, all those loads on my head… But I wouldn’t be here as the number one business man again, if someone hadn’t stood by my side when I had no one else.”
Below, I could see Estelle drawing closer with a smile, blowing air kisses I never begged for.
Right before everyone, I said, “Honestly, this award shouldn’t be given to me, but to one person… Brielle.”
There was a sudden gasp in the crowd. Everyone were stunned when I called Brielle’s name, watching me stretch out my hand to her, inviting her to the stage.
“You deserve this award, not me. Please come, ” I motioned her over, smiling.
She stared at me in shock, feeling nervous when everyone began to clap, waiting for her to climb the stage.
Estelle, who stood six feet away from her, gazed at me in horror. She wasn’t expecting me to call Brielle to the stage.
But I have to.
She’s the reason why I’m here.
“Go my dear,” Sir Derek, who happened to be closer to Brielle, persuaded her to head up to the stage.
She did as he said and came up, reminding me of the weak and scared Brielle of old.
She drew nearer to me, as I handed the award to her with a smirk and said, “Let everyone see the true brain behind my success.”
And when I said that, Brielle blushed, letting out a beautiful giggle.
She was looking so gorgeous.
Brielle stood before all as they applauded loudly for her. I stood behind, clapping along.
She deserves it.
