ARGON
As my Beta had suggested, I gave Brielle the task to handle before the end of the week.
She took the assignment seriously and began sorting the work out perfectly.
From the first day she started to the fourth, I’ve been staring and admiring her zeal in her work.
It only made me wish for the attention she was giving to her work, like her life depends on it.
“Just behave yourself, Argon. You don’t want her venting at you, do you?” I stared at Brielle from my seat. She was busy with her work.
With the room getting all boring and silent, I decided to take Brirlle out for lunch.
“She might object to this idea because of her work. Well, I’ll just remind her who’s the boss around here and let her know she’s free to take a break, ” I planned, adjusting my tie.
The moment I got to my feet all set to meet Brielle, my door came wide open with a familiar voice calling out to me.
“Baby!”
I directed my gaze at the door and found Estelle at the entrance, wearing a tight black dress and a sparkling hat with… I don’t know what she’s doing!
“Estelle? What are you doing here? ” I questioned, troubled by her presence.
She cat walked towards my point with her arms wide opened, giving me a big hug. I wasn’t comfortable with this and almost tossed her hands away, but on seeing Brielle’s gaze, I had to fake affection for Estelle.
“Can’t I see my baby’s daddy anymore? I’ve been calling and sending texts to you. Still, I didn’t get any response. Are you okay my love?”
She cupped my face, treating me like a baby. I had to shake her hands off, giving her a glare. She saw my gaze but pretended not to.
“I know you have been missing me, sweetie. I’ve missed you too.” She drew closer, making an attempt to kiss me.
Quickly, I moved away, calling Brielle’s name. “How’s the work going?” I asked, avoiding Estelle.
“Brielle?” She uttered in shock, looking properly at the corner where Brielle’s desk was situated.
That will explain why she just walked into my office with her blind eyes. She didn’t even notice Brielle’s presence.
“Work is going fine, Argon,” Brielle answered, smiling at me.
“Oh, Luna Estelle. How are you? ” She greeted Estelle, who was still stunned to see her.
I could pick the scent of rage rising within Estelle, as she grabbed my arms and began to demand for answers.
“Why is she here? ”
“How’s that your business?” I questioned, pulling my arm out of her hold.
This made Estelle annoyed. She glanced at Brielle then at me, asking if she was the one who forced me to bring her to the company.
“An office isn’t meant for a woman like yourself, Brielle. You deserve to be in the kitchen, not here.”
“That’s for you, Estelle,” I said, standing against her words.
I walked away from her point and towards Brielle’s table, leaning closer to it. Facing a jealous Estelle, I said, “Brielle isn’t any woman, but a hardworking lady. She’s not like you. She is my secretary and I need someone like her to work with the company. ”
“Secretary? Don’t… Can’t… Why her?!” Estelle groaned, unable to accept this.
I was ready to deliver more answers that will make her melt in rage, but we were interrupted by Brielle who took an excuse immediately.
“I shouldn’t be here while all this is talking place. Please excuse me.”
“No, Brielle…” I wanted to stop her, but she left my office immediately, leaving Estelle and I alone.
A furious Estelle walked up to me and began to vent her disapproval towards my decision.
She ordered me to sack Brielle, claiming she’s unfit for the job. “I don’t want her anywhere near this company! This is your business!”
“And who are you to make such decisions for me? Tell me, who are you?!” I dimmed my eyes at her, getting irritated by her complaints.
She gasped at me and said, raising her voice, “I’m your future wife and soon to be mother of your baby!”
“And who was the person that made that title possible, huh?” I fired, lifting my brow at Estelle.
She couldn’t speak back because she knows the answer is unpleasant and bitter in her mouth.
“I thought so. If your main motive here is to stress my life, it’s best you leave because I don’t have time for your nonsense,” I said, pointing at the door.
Estelle frowned at this, staying shut. She just sat on the chair opposite my desk, grumbling over her defeat.
I don’t know why she’s here. Just when I had plans to take Brielle out for lunch, she shows up to ruin everything.
“Just bear with it for now,” I puffed out, heading to my desk to look for something to do, hoping Brielle returns to take me out of this misery called Estelle.
.
On the D day for the assignment submission, I noticed Brielle wasn’t in her seat.
We both came down to the company in one of my cars, so one can’t say she didn’t come to work.
“Where did she go to?” I wondered, asking my Beta who stood right beside me.
He shrugged and assumed Brielle was in the restroom. “Let’s just wait for her, ” He said.
I had to listen, believing the same. And luckily for us, we spotted Brielle coming towards us.
Her face looked swollen with confusion, with her eyes hovering about like one searching for something.
When she drew nearer to us, I asked, “What is the problem? Did something happen?”
“Luna Brielle, what’s the matter? ” Jerome also asked, looking concerned.
The way Brielle stared silently, left me worried. She wasn’t speaking up and it only troubled my heart.
“Is something wrong?” I asked once more, taking her by the hand.
She lifted her gaze at me and delivered a smile, saying, “It’s nothing, Argon. I was just thinking of something.”
“Something like what?” Jerome questioned, being way more concerned than I was.
Brielle repeated her words, assuring us that everything was fine. But deep down, I felt she was hiding something.
“Okay then. If there’s no problem, how about you deliver the file Alpha Argon gave you to work on? I believe the client would be showing up soon, right Alpha?” Jerome demanded, reminding me of the assignment.
I nodded lightly, agreeing to his words.
“Yes, the file. Is it ready?” I asked Brielle.
Suddenly, her smiles faded into worry, as she clapsed her hands together, unable to give me an answer.
What’s wrong with her?
Why is she not saying anything about the file?
Wait, the file… I hope nothing has happened to it?
“You’re silent again, Luna. I hope nothing is wrong with the files Alpha Argon gave you?” Jerome asked, almost like he read my mind.
That’s when Brielle sighed out and told us to follow her to the office. “I don’t know how to say this but… Just come.” She walked ahead of us with speed.
Now I was feeling troubled. I hope that file is safe? J and B is one of Sir Derek’s top partners and mine as well. What will I tell the client if something bad happens to their file?
“I don’t like the feeling I’m getting, but let’s follow her, ” Jerome said, walking ahead of me.
I also followed them, praying for the files to be in good shape.
On getting into my office…
“I’m sorry for losing the actual folder for the papers. I had to use this pink flowery one instead, ” Brielle said, showing my beta and I.
Nothing was wrong with the file. It’s just the folder that was different.
“Just the folder?” Jerome asked, looking surprised.
Brielle nodded at us.
Unexpectedly, I came out laughing at Brielle’s behavior. She almost gave me a heart attack.
I noticed how she smiled, asking us, “What? You thought I lost the files?”
“Yes. You were acting so scared and… Oh my goodness!” I cackled on, unable to hold back my laughter.
My Beta wasn’t laughing. He just smiled at this, showing his relief to the situation.
“I can’t lose such an important file, Argon. That’s not my nature, ” She said, handing the folder to me.
With a smirk across her face, she requested to head back to the mansion to rest. “If that’s okay with you, sir.”
And who am I to say no to her?
She has done excellently well.
“Sure, you can. I’ll contact the guard to get the car ready for you.”
“Thank you. I’ll take my leave now, ” She appreciated, taking hold of her purse, before exiting my office.
I had my eyes trailing her movement when she walked pass us, but my gaze where interrupted by my Beta, who was still lost in his shock.
“Are you okay?” I tapped his back, bringing him out of his thoughts.
“Yes? ” He uttered, facing my point.
“Don’t tell me you’re still stunned by her tricks. You seem to have forgotten who we hired as my secretary.” I laughed, walking to my desk.
“Let our client know we’re waiting for his arrival.”
“Yes, Alpha.” Jerome bowed, taking the folder with him, and out of my office.
“Brielle… She made a fool of us with her nasty trick. I’m just glad that the files are okay.” I swayed my head, still amused by her joke.
