JEROME
Who is she anyway?
As far as I remember, she’s just a helpless wolfless orphan with nothing!
She’s only in this mansion because of the Alpha, and because his secret affairs with Estelle accidentally went into the public, she now feels she’s the ruler of his life!
I should have seen this coming when she began poking herself into business matters that doesn’t concern her.
Who begged her to get Sir Derek to save us?!
I bet I would have come up with a better plan than hers, but Alpha Argon was so desperate to get out of his mess. Now, that woman is making a fool out of him.
“The main plan was to get her to accept him back, so she’d restore his throne to him. But it seems this plan is taking a different turn,” I observed, dimming my eyes at Alpha Argon and Brielle.
He was busy staring at her while she worked on the documents. I’ve been watching them both and for once… For once! I wanted Alpha Argon to look elsewhere, but he didn’t. He kept his eyes on Brielle.
He has been gazing at her non stop!
This was enough to show that Alpha Argon is losing his senses with this woman around.
It’s like I’m no longer looking at the man I always consider to be strong minded or courageous. He now listens to everything this woman tells him!
“Estelle and her father were right. Brielle is slowly taking our places in Alpha Argon’s life!” I groaned, tightening my hand into a fist.
I couldn’t stand this any more.
“If I don’t act fast, my position might slip from under my nose and I won’t be able to do anything.”
This was beginning to trouble me as I thought more on Alpha Deron’s words.
“A common enemy? I can now see that.”
Carefully, I walked away from there and back to my office.
I couldn’t proceed further with the remaining documents. That zeal was gone in a flash.
It didn’t take long for my door to swing open, with Alpha Argon stepping in with the documents he had taken before.
“This is settled. You could… Um… Try to finish up the rest and…”
“My apologies Alpha, but I won’t be able to complete the remaining documents. I forgot I was heading out to the factory to check up on the goods the workers produced last night, ” I claimed, pretending to have loads of work.
I was expecting my Alpha to cancel the plan and make me handle the remaining files, but he surprised me with his reaction.
He was… Happy!
His lips came spreading wide into a smile, which he immediately wiped off with a serious face, taking the remaining documents into his hold.
“It’s fine. You can go ahead and handle that. I’ll attend to this,” He said.
And without hesitation, he left my office.
I was fumed by his behavior. I can’t allow this to continue.
Not any more.
I didn’t head to any silly factory. That was just a lie to leave the company and head down to my actual destination.
Red wood pack.
I had messaged Alpha Deron to let him know I was coming over to his mansion. He gladly responded, telling me he was waiting.
And when I got there, both father and daughter welcomed me like a family member who has been missing for ages.
“It was just a matter of time for you to see the truth yourself, Beta, ” Alpha Deron said, guiding me into the living room.
“Your coming here means that you’ve seen the truth with your own two eyes,” Estelle said, smirking at me while taking her seat first.
I couldn’t hold it back any more. I sighed out and told them all what I observed lately after our last meet up.
“He’s giving her all his attention! I know we had a plan to get her to accept him so she’d restore his throne, but that plan is taking a different turn. It’s making Alpha Argon a puppet in her clutches!” I shared, feeling annoyed over the matter.
“Relax, son. At least you can now see that woman’s true nature, ” Alpha Deron pacified me, sitting on the couch with me by his side.
“That’s why it’s important we take that woman out once and for all. We need to come up with a plan that’ll make Argon kick her out with his own two legs!” He added.
“Yes, but… The throne… Alpha Argon needs to use Brielle to get the councils to give him back his throne.”
“Whether she’s there or not, that woman can’t stay, ” Estelle said, crossing her legs with pride.
“My father has spoken to our council members. They said if Argon can keep his business growing and be a saint, helping those in need, those old wolves won’t need Brielle’s consent to make Argon ruler again. They only said that to keep her in the mansion,” Estelle shared, leaving me stunned.
“You know they adore her like she’s some kind of goddess, but they have forgotten that we are here to make Argon see the truth, ” Deron added.
He placed his hand on my shoulder and shared his plan. ” All you have to do is get Argon’s eyes cleared. He and the councils need to see Brielle as someone unfit. Let them have so much detest for her. Make Argon hate her again so he’d have no choice but to kick her out.”
“And that’s when you step in as his right hand man and guide him on the right path. Trust us…” Estelle simpered widely. “Those useless Councils would look pass his errors and give him his throne.”
“Now isn’t that the best way to solve this problem, beta? ” They both grinned at me, waiting for my response.
I thought about their words and plans against Brielle. If she’s not needed to restore Alpha Argon’s throne, then who am I to stand back and allow her to ruin my life?
With a smirk, I agreed to the plan made by both father and daughter.
“Consider it done. ”
“Splendid!” Alpha Deron cheered, getting excited. Estelle was more excited than her father. It was clear in her eyes.
“I think I have a plan that will help us achieve our goal quickly. One that will leave Alpha Argon seeking for Brielle’s eviction,” I shared, getting fired up.
.
That afternoon, I patiently waited for Alpha Argon and Brielle to return from wherever they had gone to.
After leaving Red wood pack, I contacted a guard at the company, who told me they had left for something important.
I decided not to head back to the company but to the mansion, plotting out the greatest scheme that will pull Alpha Argon out of his madness.
“He acts like he’s trying to get Brielle to be friends with him, but he’s doing the opposite.” I walked towards the staircase, staring at my watch.
“I no longer see a desperate man out for power, but… But attention. He’s trying hard to make Brielle accept him, but not the way we planned. I bet it’s the same thing Estelle saw.”
When I got to the stairs, set to head down, I saw both Brielle and Alpha Argon stepping into the mansion.
In my Alpha’s arms were six shopping bags meant for Brielle. She didn’t have anything in her hold but walked ahead of him, ignoring his words.
“Please say yes to this gifts, ” He begged, following her like a fool.
Brielle groaned at his behavior and said, turning around to face him, “Can’t you stop this for once? It’s not a must I accept all these bags. You told me they were for Estelle, so why the sudden change?”
“Because I lied in the first place?” He grinned at her.
She frowned her face at him and advised him to give Estelle all the gifts he got. “She’s expecting your child, Argon. The least you can do is show her some love. When last did you take her out on shopping?” She questioned.
But my Alpha couldn’t answer that. He still wanted to get Brielle to accept his gifts.
“Stop it, please. All these gifts don’t interest me. I don’t fancy them.” She turned her back at him, walking towards the stairs.
As I watched her coming towards my point, I felt a strong wave of detest overwhelming my heart.
“Just look at how she’s controlling him like a dog. Very soon you’ll regret all your deeds,” I vented within.
As soon as I said that in my head, Brielle’s gaze fell on me instantly.
They were so wide! Almost like she read my mind!
This made my heart skip in fear when I saw those creepy eyes darting straight at me. “Did she notice something or did I accidentally voice that out?”
I couldn’t tell.
But to my surprise, she just smiled and walked pass me.
“That’s a relief,” I sighed, making my way down the stairs to meet Alpha Argon.
He was already sulking at his point, dropping the shopping bags on the floor.
“Take this inside,” He ordered two maids, drawing away from the bags.
But when he saw me, he paused.
“Oh, Jerome. I thought you where at the factory.”
“I was. I attended to the goods and decided to head back home. I hope I’m safe?”
“It’s fine, ” He said, waving his hand with a long face.
Seeing this mood he was in, I decided to cease this opportunity to execute my plan.
“I noticed how you tried to get Brielle to accept your gifts. It’s like I said, she doesn’t take gifts like that, ” I said, following my Alpha, who was now heading for the living room.
He didn’t say anything to my words but kept sighing out in frustration.
That’s when I brought up a suggestion. “I think I know what you can do to get Brielle to stop being nasty towards you.”
And when I said that, Alpha Argon’s eyes grew large in curiosity.
“Really? Tell me. ” He sat down immediately, desperate to hear me out.
I sat next to him and shared, “Brielle has clouded her mind with the fact that once she gets you and Luna Estelle married, she’ll go her separate way, far away from the place she once called home.”
My Alpha’s mood came all dull. Seems he’s thinking about it.
“Why don’t you give her a job in the company. Let’s say as your secretary. That way she won’t feel far away from your father and home. From her new resident, she can still feel connected to this place.”
“Are you sure about that? You know this is Brielle we’re talking about here.”
With an assurance, I patted my Alpha’s shoulder, telling him to do it. “Trust me, she’s going to love it, ” I promised him.
And for the first time since that incident, he listened to me. This is indeed a sign that the goddess is with me.
“You’re right. If Brielle is going to leave this place after fulfilling her promise, the least I can do is make her my secretary. That’s the best idea! Thanks Jerome. You really are my beta.”
“Yes, I am your beta. The only Beta in your life.” I smirked, feeling good.
This is just the beginning.
.
That night, I was about exiting the study room after dropping a folder for Alpha Argon, when someone unexpected blocked my path.
“Luna?” I called, referring to no other person but Brielle.
She was leaning against the door, playing with a dead flower. Her head came navigating my way, as she settled her gaze on me, letting out a smile.
“A good evening to you, Beta, ” She greeted, still clipping the dried up petals of this flowers.
“What are you… I mean… Do you need something?” I stammered, finding her presence terrifying.
This is the same door I glanced at some minutes ago. She wasn’t there, but now she is.
Brielle kept on smiling at me. She finally drew away from the door, saying, “Argon came over to my room to offer me a job as his secretary. I know he didn’t come up with such an idea on his own, without the help of his trusted right hand man. Isn’t that right, Beta?”
Her eyes where fixed directly at me, like one who was searching for my soul.
I couldn’t keep up with the gaze but looked away, answering her question. “What do you mean, Luna? I didn’t tell him anything. If the Alpha had made such a decision, you should be happy. ”
“Hmm. Happy huh?” She chuckled through her teeth.
She squeezed the dead flower into her fist, saying, ” I don’t know if I should be happy or bothered, Beta.”
“Um… Why?” I asked, composing myself.
That’s when her creepy grin faded, replaced with a hard cold gaze. Her head came tilting to the side, responding to my question, “Who knows what plans await me behind this job.”
“Plans? What are you talking about?” My body shivered at her words.
What does she mean by that?
Does she know something about my scheme?
Surprisingly, Brielle came out laughing, relieving me at last. “You’re hilarious, Jerome. Why are you scared? ” She kept cackling, and I just smiled, acting supportive of her jokes.
I’ve forgotten that she can be sarcastic with her words some times.
“I only came to share the good news, since we’ll be working along with Argon. So, I hope we can get along as coworkers,” She said, extending her hand for a shake.
Hearing her, I felt like scoffing out. She doesn’t know what awaits her. I’ll gladly guide her to her doom.
“I hope so, Luna,” I agreed, taking her hands in my hold, shaking them.
Only time will tell how long you’ll last here with us.
