ARGON
“Trust me, you’re going to love it,” I assured Brielle, as I led her up the stairs, holding her hand.
She followed without asking any question. Although her face showed she wasn’t convinced by my sudden behavior, I still stayed positive, hoping she would believe.
I just don’t want her to feel uncomfortable with me any more. I want to change a lot of things between us.
Getting to the top, I led Brielle to one of the rooms which was three doors away from mine.
The guards were already stepping in with her belongings, getting the room set for her.
When we both stepped in…
“This is your room from now on,” I said, showing Brielle.
She stood at the entrance, hovering her gaze about. A smile slowly crept across her face, but she immediately hid it when she saw me staring.
She didn’t want me to see the excitement within, but I did. And it felt so good.
“It’s not bad. Thank you, ” She appreciated with a serious face, stepping into the room fully.
“You don’t have to thank me. You’re still a part of this home,” I said, smiling at Brielle.
She drew closer to the bed and sat on it, watching the guards settle her mirror and little clothes bag, right at the corner.
That was the only thing she had in that room, and it gave me an idea.
“How about we head out together for some shopping?” I asked, hoping she would agree to it.
Brielle looked at me, lifting her brow next. “Shopping? Like… Two of us?” She asked, amused by my plans.
I nodded on seeing her expression, telling her what we could get. “We’ll get you more clothes and shoes and… Let’s just used this time to catch some fun. You know… Just driving around… ” I suggested, playing with my hands from behind.
I’ve never felt so nervous around any other person except Brielle. I always feel worried about her feedback whenever I ask her a question.
She hummed at my plans and surprisingly agreed to it. I was filled with joy when she said yes.
“Let me get ready then. We don’t want people seeing me in this dress and thinking you forced it on me, ” She pointed out to the dull blue dress she was wearing, scoffing.
I agreed with her and politely stepped out of the room for her to get ready.
“I’ll wait for you down stairs,” I had said before exiting the room, feeling better than ever.
Everything is going well.
Quickly, I went to the living room to wait for Brielle. While I was there, my Beta had called from the company to inform me about someone’s presence outside the building.
It was Deron of course.
“He wishes to see you, Alpha.”
“Kick him off or call the authorities! I don’t want to see him or his daughter anywhere near my property. Wasn’t that the order I gave you? ” I vented out in anger, on hearing that man was standing outside my company, waiting for me.
It’s a good thing I didn’t go over today, otherwise I’d have made him regret ever stepping there.
“That’s what I’m doing. I sent the guards to kick him out. If he doesn’t listen, I’ll get the authorities involved.”
“Better, because I don’t want to see or hear about them any more, ” I said, pacing about.
Suddenly, my feet came to a halt when I heard the sound of heels stepping into the living room. When I lifted my eyes to see the bearer, I was blown away.
“Wow!”
Brielle… She was looking so beautiful.
She wore the dress I got for her alongside Tania’s. It was a dark green dress decorated with black crystals.
I almost forgot about it, well until now.
“You look… I…,” I stammered, admiring her beauty.
I know I pictured her in the dress when in was getting it, but seeing her in it in reality is marvelous.
Brielle ignored my words and just ran her hands across the dress, asking, “Are we good to go?” She lifted her eyes at me, waiting for a reply.
I was completely lost in her beauty, that I forgot Jerome was still on the line with me.
“Alpha, is everything okay?” He asked, getting my attention.
“Yeah, everything is… Fine. I’ll talk to you later,” I said, putting an end to the call, and dropping my full focus on Brielle.
“Yes, we’re… Um… We can go now,” I cleared my throat so she’d hear me clearly.
Brielle just shrugged and turned around, leading the way out of the room. I followed her from behind, with hopes of this day bringing a change between us.
At least, if we could be friends I’d be happy.
After some minutes on the road, we arrived at the boutique to shop. I gave Brielle the go ahead to pick out anything she wanted.
She didn’t want to listen at first, but soon took her steps and picked out the wears she admired.
I didn’t really do much around. All I did was follow Brielle, watching her pick whatever attire she found appealing.
Well not until my eyes caught sight of a beautiful red dress at the corner. It was so dazzling and had Brielle’s figure.
“I must have it,” I decided, carefully drawing nearer to this pretty attire.
Before I could take hold of it, I began to hear the voices of the customers around, gossiping about us.
“I thought he divoreced her? Why are they together?”
“What happened to his model lover?”
“I don’t understand this relationship. If he has rejected his Luna, why are they hanging out like a couple?”
“Didn’t you see them on the news the other time? They clearly said they’re friends.”
“Friends with an ex? That’s rubbish. I rather kiss a wall than return to the man who rejected me.”
I could hear them all with my wolf hearing, and all their words irritated me.
I managed to compose myself, taking the red dress into my hold, walking back to meet Brielle.
“This will look perfect on you. How about trying it out,” I suggested to Brielle, showing her the dress.
She looked mesmerized on seeing the dress, but swiftly wiped that expression, acting cold towards me.
“I have no time to try anything out. Let’s just take what is needed and leave.”
“Oh, okay then. Whatever you say,” I accepted, feeling a bit upset.
I paid for the items and left the store with Brielle. The moment we stepped into the car…
“I’ll try them at the mansion. I don’t like the way those people were gazing at us. It feels so weird,” Brielle said, sticking her tongue out to express her irritation to the customers.
On hearing this, I felt pleased.
I thought she was being rude like always, but I was wrong. She just wants to be away from the people.
“What? Can’t I make my decision any more? ” She asked smirking at me.
I did the same, swaying my head at her. “Yes, you can. I’m just… Never mind.” I smiled, starting the car and driving off.
.
It wasn’t the best day, but a great day for me. Brielle and I had visited a fancy restaurant, where we booked a seat away from the people’s watchful gaze.
No one knew we were there because we stayed at the private Hall on the building’s terrace.
We were being secretive about our outing and it felt so beautiful. Like something out of the ordinary.
She made this day wonderful, even though it wasn’t her kind of thing. I felt so happy that she agreed to it from the start, otherwise, I wouldn’t have had this much fun today.
When we got back to the mansion at evening, Brielle decided to head to her room and rest.
“Brielle!”
“Yes, Argon?” She asked, turning around to face me.
I pointed at the stairs and said, reminding her, ” Your room is up stairs now.”
“Oh! I… I forgot,” She giggled, hurrying for the staircase.
I watched her from behind, unable to look away. Until I felt my shoulder being tapped from behind, ending that gaze in an instant.
When I turned around to see who it was, I found my Beta there.
“Oh, Jerome. I didn’t see you there.”
“I just got back. And it seems you just arrived from your outing with… Brielle,” He said, trailing his gaze to the stairs then back at me.
“Yeah, we… We decided to head out for shopping. I gave her a much better room and suggested we shop for new clothes, ” I explained to him, flashing to the fun moment with Brielle.
It got me smiling.
My Beta was amused to hear this. “Fascinating. Seems Brielle is slowly warming up to you. That’s good,” He encouraged, nodding at me.
“Gradually she’ll break and give you back your position as the Alpha. Keep doing that, ” Jerome smiled, patting my shoulder.
I wanted to feel good about it, but thinking about my position and my interest in being closer to Brielle… “I hope she doesn’t think I’m using her to get what I want.”
I don’t want her thinking like that. I really want to remove the gap between us.
“I almost forgot,” Jerome said, drawing nearer to me. “The councils called this morning. They were unable to reach out to you or to Brielle.”
“The councils?” My heart skipped, wondering what they want.
“They’ll be coming over tomorrow noon to see Brielle,” He notified me, causing my heart to race even more.
They want to see Brielle. I can’t say no to their visit. I no longer have the right to make an order in this pack.
“Okay, that’s fine. Seems I’ll have to stay back and welcome them. I need to be present.”
“But you have a meeting tomorrow. You can’t leave that.”
“That’s why I have you to look after things in my absence. Attend to the meeting and I’ll join in once the councils are done, okay?” I said, shifting the work on my beta.
He didn’t looked pleased about this idea, but had no choice.
“Alright, I will do as you have said.”
“Good. I’ll be in my room, resting. ” I patted his back, walking out of his sight.
Deep down, I was troubled and also curious to know what the councils want to discuss with Brielle.
“I hope it’s good?” I sighed, rubbing my forehead.
