ARGON
With Brielle’s help, I was able to hire more workers to join the work on ground. And on the fifth day of production, we were close to our goal.
“The week hasn’t ended and we are almost done,” Jerome pointed out, looking pleased.
He fell his hands on my shoulder in delight, talking about the contract we’re going to bag with Sir Derek soon. “King Damien would be shocked when we win this game. He messed with the wrong people,” My Beta cheered.
I was also happy as well. I could smell my victory already.
But why do I smell something funny?
“Is it me or do I scent flowers?” I asked Jerome, sniffing the air.
Just as we were talking, I overheard one of the workers, who just stepped in, saying something to another.
“Yo, I just saw the guards surrounding that Lycan king we saw on the internet.”
“Really? Where?”
“Outside. He’s busy talking to the Luna.”
The moment I heard Lycan King…
“What?!” I uttered out loudly, facing the direction of the workers that were talking.
They shivered in fear on seeing my reaction, trying to resume with their work.
“Who did you see outside the factory?” I questioned, widening my eyes at them.
The worker who brought the news, pointed at the entrance and said, ” That… That Lycan king. He’s outside with Luna Brielle.”
“Brielle?!” I exclaimed in shock, looking at the door of the building.
My heart came flying to throat, wondering what that animal is doing with her.
“Like seriously? That man has the nerves to step into our territory?” Jerome sparked.
Quickly, we both rushed out of the factory and found Damien with Brielle, and the guards surrounding him.
The fool was on his knees, holding a bouquet of red roses for Brielle, ignoring the fact that he was surrounded by my guards.
Anger overwhelmed me when I saw this. Is he proposing to her?!
“Won’t you say yes to me?” Damien asked Brielle, who kept staring at him in confusion.
Her hand came stretching out slowly to the flowers, staring at both Damien and at the roses.
When I saw this, I felt a sudden wave of rage that pushed me immediately to stop this.
Quickly, with speed, I got to Brielle’s spot and pulled her back from touching the filthy roses brought by Damien.
She was surprised by my intervention, asking me, “I thought you were working?”
“I thought we were working?” I threw the question back, glaring at Brielle.
She was stunned at my behavior.
“What are you doing here with this man?” I questioned, facing Damien.
He was still on his knees, looking at both Brielle and I.
Suddenly, he came out laughing while rising from the floor, swaying his head like an idiot.
Yeah, everything about him is idiotic in my eyes.
“Waw, this is so hilarious. Argon is protecting his Ex-Luna from a suitable groom. Do I call this wickedness or what?” Damien mocked me.
I was so mad at this that I ordered Brielle to head back into the factory.
She didn’t want to listen to me. She was keen on staying, asking me why I was standing for her.
“Let me be, Argon!”
“Go inside, Brielle!” I raised my voice, shimmering my eyes at her.
She stared at them with anger, but did as I wanted. She stormed back towards the factory with so much rage. But I didn’t mind, as long as she’s away from this Lycan.
Once she was gone, I faced Damien, who began to call me a cruel fellow. “I see no reason why you’d be keeping her away from meeting other suitors when you already have your future bride there. A super model for crying out loud! ” He laughed.
I tightened my hand into a fist and walked up to Damien, grabbing him by the collar.
The flower in his hand, I also yanked that off to the floor, stepping on it.
That act dimmed Damien’s cackles. He was now serious this time around.
“I know you’re not just here to woo Brielle to be your lover, but to see how my work is going. Let me tell you this, Damien…” I tightened my grip on his collar, so he’d sense the rage puffing out of me.
“Your plans won’t work one bit. And if you think you can take me down the second time, I’ll make you regret it because you stand no chance against me. Let that sink into your head.”
With force, I pushed him back.
He staggered from my point, touching his neck in anger. That’s when his eyes glowed blue, growling at me.
I smirked at the angry pup and said, ” You know you’re in my territory. You can’t do anything to me, Lycan. One move and you’re doomed.”
I signaled his attention to my guards, who were set to pounce on him if he tries anything silly.
I’m sure he knows he can’t attack me. He’ll be bruised like hell.
In anger, Damien stormed away from the premises, leaving in his car which was parked outside.
As soon as he left, I thought about Brielle and the fact that she stood with him, talking.
She even allowed him to knee before her!
“Was he serious about that proposal?” Jerome asked in surprise. He doesn’t know what Damien has been planning for Brielle all these while.
I’m the only one who knows his dirty scheme.
In annoyance, I stormed back inside to look for Brielle. She was sitting in an isolated corner of the factory, staring out the window.
When I got close to her, I grabbed her by the arm, pulling her up to her feet.
“Argon, What?!” She yelled at me when I did this.
But my anger got the best of me.
“What were you thinking, talking to that man?! He went on his knees proposing to you and you were going to accept?!”
“Let go!” She sparked, trying to pull her arm out of my hold.
I didn’t allow it. I needed to make her listen and stay away from Damien no matter what.
I yelled and sparked at Brielle, ignoring her rage at me. Even my Beta was telling me to pull myself together, but I couldn’t.
“Stay away from Damien! He has nothing good to bring! He’s a jackass with no sympathy!”
“Back off!” Brielle roared, pushing me off with force, with my feet drifting from her point.
Brielle pointed at me and said, ” You talk like you’re no different from him. All these characteristics you’re pointing out, isn’t that the same thing you possess?!”
“What?” I uttered, stunned by Brielle’s words.
“Am I lying?” She questioned strongly.
My mouth came dropping, finding it hard to respond to that.
“He wasn’t wrong when he asked if you’re being wicked towards me. I mean… Someone came to propose to me and you just showed up to ruin it, taking control over my decision. Who are you to decide what I want and don’t want?! I didn’t intervene in your matters when you chose to divorce me for Estelle. I went with the flow! Now that it’s my turn, you want to control me?!”
“Brielle… It’s nothing like that. I’m… trying to protect you from…”
“I don’t need your protection!” She sparked out loudly, making me shiver at her voice.
“Don’t give me something you never gave from the start. I have learned to protect myself from scratch. I don’t need yours, ” She groaned, panting at me in frustration.
My whole body kept shaking before Brielle. It felt so scary talking to her.
Annoyed, she walked pass me and my beta, leaving the factory.
“Brielle!” I had called, trying to know where she was heading to. But Brielle just left the factory, walking out into the road.
Dammit! I just wanted to protect her from Damien. But I got served in return, and not she’s mad at me.
.
Since that time Brielle left till night, I’ve been communicating with my guard at the mansion, who told me she was at the mansion.
That was a relieve to me. As long as she’s away from Damien, I’m okay.
“That’s fine. Just keep your eyes on her,” I instructed the guard, before ending the call.
Lowering my phone down, I found Jerome staring at me oddly. I lifted my brow at him and asked if everything was fine.
“Fine? I should be asking you that question, Alpha. What’s wrong with you lately?”
“What are you talking about now?” I narrowed my brows at him.
He brought up the argument with Brielle, portraying it as a strange scenario. “Why are you concerned about her private life? I thought your aim was to make friends with her and get your throne back, than interfering in her personal matters?”
“Damien is also part of my personal matters, Jerome! That idiot plans to make Brielle his bride! How can I allow that?!” I sparked, getting angry just thinking about it.
Jerome hummed, crossing his arms. “So what if he wants that? It’s Brielle that’ll make that decision, not you. If you poke your nose in her matter, she’d think you’re plotting to ruin her life.”
“I’m not doing that. I’m just… Just helping out like a friend.”
“A friend you say? To me, it looks like a jealous ex-husband who doesn’t want to see his ex-wife happy. That’s what Brielle sees, not a friend.”
My mouth came opening, but no words.
Jerome warned me to stay away from Brielle’s personal life. “Anything that will lead to an issue in your goal, stay off. Now she’s mad at you. You need to fix things with her immediately.”
“Ive heard. I’ll think of something and…” I paused.
There was an unpleasant smell in the air. I took a sniff and was stunned at once.
“Shit! ” I sparked out, running outside the factory with Jerome. He had also picked this scent that was troubling our nostrils.
The smell of Lycans!
When we stepped out, I saw my guards taking position. They had picked the unwanted smell as well, getting ready to attack.
“I knew that animal came here to spy on us!” I groaned, stepping out fully.
My eyes hovering around the tall trees and bushes close to the factory. They could be anywhere, because their smell is all around us.
Suddenly, we heard screams coming from the bushes. I looked towards my left side and saw something flying out of the bushes and falling back in.
The screams slowly turned into cries, indicating our enemies where there, but…
“Is that a cry of battle or an actual cry?” I asked my beta, noticing something off about the environment and the horrifying screams coming from the Lycans.
But there was something else that caught my attention. A strange smell I’ve never smelt before.
“Can you smell that?” I asked Jerome, but my Beta couldn’t pick the smell like me.
This scent was… Was strong!
It was coming from around, leaving me wondering if there was another creature coming to attack us.
But once the screams went out, my guards and I rushed into the bushes and found all the Lycans unconscious.
They were attacked by something!
“Goddess! What happened to them? ” Jerome asked, noticing a big scrcatch on the back of a Lycan wolf.
It was a large mark, bigger than any normal wolf. This was different.
“There was something out here. I could pick a strange scent before, but now it’s gone,” I said, feeling the hair at the back of my neck, rising.
Whatever attacked this Lycans, wasn’t normal.
We are not alone.
