CHAPTER 59

ARGON
Our work started the moment we arrived at the factory. The workers had already begun with the task, taking out the remaining materials and starting with the production.
Brielle, Jerome and I sat in my office, attending to the finances of the company and what we can use the money to cover.
“The materials won’t last us for the production, so we’ll have to take some money for that,” I planned with them.
They both agreed with me, especially Brielle.
“Let’s hope the materials cover a large portion of the batches, because we’ll be needing more money for more goods, ” She said, pointing at the file.
I agreed with her on that, hoping everything goes well.
Two days later, we had covered a quarter of the batches Sir Derek ordered for. We haven’t slept at the mansion since that night, but made the factory our new home, working tirelessly to achieve our goals.
And in the process of doing so, my concern for Brielle increased. She had adjusted to the work life, pushing hard to make the project succeed.
Whenever I tried to get her to rest, she would either groan at me, or say something nasty to keep me off her path.
“Stop focusing your attentions on me, Argon. The goods are over there, not on my head, ” She had said the last time I tried to persuade her.
But when it’s night time, she can’t keep me away, especially when she’s asleep.
I always make sure Brielle is shielded from the cold, even though she sleeps away from Jerome and I. She just isolated herself from our point, like an outsider.
Still, I didn’t leave her to the cold night but attended to her needs.
We continued this until the fourth day. We were almost out of materials and we were low on budget.
Jerome showed this to me in Brielle’s absence, wondering what we could do.
“Do you think we should talk to Brielle about it? Maybe she can help us speak to Sir Derek, so he’d assist us with some funds, ” Jerome asked, bringing up his suggestion.
But that plan sounded terrible to me.
“No, we can’t do that! Sir Derek might think I’m using Brielle for my own needs. And I don’t want her feeling that way towards me.” I refused, uncomfortable with that plan.
“So, what is the solution? We don’t have any other person that can help us, ” Jerome pointed out.
Just as we were perambulating on what to do, the sound of a horn came in. That was from a truck outside the factory.
Jerome and I, with a few workers, came out to see five trucks from the company that supplies us our materials, moving into the vicinity.
I was surprised and also confused on seeing them.
“Did you call them? ” I asked Jerome, facing my Beta.
He immediately swayed his head, telling me he didn’t. “I didn’t call them, I swear.”
All of a sudden, an alert came into my phone. When I checked, I was shocked to see a huge sum of money in my account.
“What the…” My words hooked my throat as I shivered at this sudden surprise.
Jerome drew closer to see the alert and was stunned as well.
“What?! From who?!” He asked curiously.
One of the truck riders came out and said, ” Sir, we got an order from Luna Brielle this morning. We’ve gotten the materials as you wanted.”
“Brielle?” I uttered her name, realizing that I haven’t seen her around the factory since we woke up.
“I thought she went home to rest or get changed. She’s responsible for this? ” I was marvelled, feeling my heart glowing at her action.
Now I know where the money came from. It’s all her doing.
With delight, we got the workers to load off the goods into the store room, getting ourselves set to resume with work.
From the amount I received, I paid the drivers their fee. They soon left with their trucks after receiving the payment.
“This is more than enough to cover the batches, Alpha, ” Jerome rejoiced with me, heading back into the factory with speed.
But I was still outside, wondering where Brielle might be.
She doesn’t have a phone with her and I can’t tell if she’s at the mansion.
“Should I call?” I wondered, lifting my phone to make a call.
“Let me call,” I decided, reaching out to the mansion. But I was told she wasn’t home.
“She did show up, but left with a little bag in her hand,” A guard reported.
Just then, the one I was looking for, showed up in a taxi, parking right outside the factory gate.
My heart shimmered on seeing her, sending my feet towards her point.
“It’s fine, she’s here,” I said the guard, ending the call immediately.
Brielle was about drawing closer to the gate when I got there, standing right before her.
Her eyes came wide on seeing me. Seems she wasn’t expecting to meet me waiting.
“Why are you outside standing like a security guard? Don’t tell me you left your work just to wait for me!” She widened her eyes, frowning at me.
On seeing her face expression, I ended up chuckling.
Brielle came all calm and asked, ” What is it? Why are you…” She paused, looking at the ground.
I did the same, trying to figure out what had gotten her attention. That’s when I saw the tyre marks of the trucks that left not too long.
“Oh, they brought it already? Now that’s what I call good customer service,” She chortled, stepping in through the gate.
Before she could walk pass me…
“Brielle,” I called, taking hold of her hand.
She came to a stop and turned around to face me, asking what the problem was. “Is there anything else we need to attend to? ” She asked.
Look at the way she’s talking about the wants of the company like it’s her duty. I am the one who should be doing all this, but my actions have made Brielle the provider.
Guilt overwhelmed me at that point, as I swayed my head and said, “No.”
“Then what is it? ” She asked, about pulling her hand from me, but I didn’t let go.
“I… Where did you get the money to send to me? Did… You ask Sir Derek for it?” I questioned, feeling somehow embarrassed about it.
What will Sir Derek think of me? I don’t want him to feel Damien is right about everything and just change his mind towards me.
“No, I didn’t get the money from him, ” She revealed, surprising me.
If she didn’t get it from Sir Derek, then where did she see such an amount to send into my account?
“I sold all the expensive Jewelries your father had given me as a wedding gift, ” She revealed.
“What?” This confused me.
I don’t remember Brielle having Jewelries. She’s always walking bear with just little make up. The only time she goes out with such ornaments then, is if I give it to her and want the public to think I’m taking good care of her.
Once we’re away from the people’s eyes, I take them from her and give it to Estelle, who fancies such items.
“You won’t know because I never showed it to you after your order.”
“My order? What was the order? I don’t recall,” I asked, feeling uncomfortable by the minute.
That’s how Brielle tabled my rules from that period and how I dared her to wear anything fancy.
“You only gave me Jewelries that won’t last forever in my hands. That’s why I kept your father’s gift away, so you wouldn’t take it,” She shared, staring at me with no emotions.
Hearing all these, my heart sank with guilt. I deprived Brielle of a lot of things, yet after all these years, she’s still helping me.
The one I was lavishing all my love and wealth on, abandoned me in my darkest hour. But Brielle… She supported me, despite the divorce and harsh treatment she got.
“I’m glad I hid it from you. Those babies came in handy, ” She said with a smirk, pulling her hand out of my grip.
I was slow to hold her hand back, because she drew her steps back from my point.
With a smile, she told me how she sold the Jewelries to gather the money we needed for the materials.
“Now we don’t have to complain. We even have some money left to get some hands to make things faster. All that is solved.” She snapped her finger.
This is too much. I don’t deserve all these help from Brielle.
I thought she hates me for everything I did to her? Why is she keen on saving my reputation and that of the company?
She had the chance to leave with all these money and become someone great, but she chose to spend it on me.
Why all these?
“I’ll head back inside now. If you get tired of guarding the gate, you know where the factory is,” She teased, winking at me.
My heart fluttered at her action, causing me to look away in embarrassment.
I heard Brielle laughing while leaving my point. She must have seen the redness all over my face.
“Shit! Pull yourself together,” I groaned, tapping my forehead.
But what has been taken in can’t be taken out now. Brielle has stunned me for the second time.
I navigated my attention back on her, watching her step into the factory.
She has saved me once again from falling flat.
How can I repay her back?
