ESTELLE
“You poisoned this drink!” I stood my ground.
I know what I had seen in the kitchen while looking for Argon, and I know I am not imagining things.
Argon has been avoiding me since the party started. He refused to give me an answer to my questions.
I ended up roaming around the mansion, looking for him. That’s when I spotted Brielle in the kitchen, staring at two glasses and a wine in her hand.
I would have just walked away and ignored her, but the sight of this wine held me in my track.
The wine she was holding was Argon’s favorite. That made me realize that she was actually planning to pour a drink for herself and Argon.
Raged with the fact that she stole my moment of spending this day with Argon, I wanted to storm into the kitchen and put her in her place, only for me to see her pulling out a small bottle containing a green substance, and turning it into one of the glasses.
I was stunned!
I had to hide away when she was coming, but lost track of where she had gone to when she stepped out of the kitchen.
It was as if she disappeared.
But that didn’t stop me from sniffing out Argon, until I found him here on the terrace with this demon.
“I saw what you did, Brielle. I saw the little bottle you tipped over into Argon’s drink. You want to end his life, don’t you? ” I accused, getting ready to put her in her place.
My claw came springing out from my left hand, as I told Argon what I saw and kept hammering on Brielle’s action.
“It’s either you punish her or I do it.”
“What nonsense are you talking about, Estelle? I don’t think Brielle would do such a thing, ” Argon argued, defending Brielle.
And this action of his only increased my anger.
“Stop this nonsense! Don’t be afraid of this woman because of the councils. I am telling you that she poisoned your drink! Why are you still waiting around? Punish her!”
“Really?” Brielle uttered, gaining my attention.
I looked at her and met her tilting her head to the side, delivering her usual cold stare.
“So, because I brought a wine to your future husband, it means I have poisoned his drink? Waw! This is another one, ” She said, chuckling while looking at Argon.
I know what she’s trying to do, and it won’t work. I saw her with my two eyes. I am not blind.
“Estelle, enough of your rubbish. Brielle will never do such a thing,” Argon defended again.
“She will never do such a thing, ” I mimicked his words, swaying my head in disappointment.
“Always siding with this woman that ruined your reputation before all. She’s the same person who nearly shamed you in front of people during your award ceremony. Do you still want to defend her? ” I pointed.
But Argon still stood his ground, sounding serious. He told me to hand the drink over to him.
“Bring it.”
“Why should I? So you’d drink it and die because you want to prove her innocence? No, Argon. I will not allow it. If anyone is going to drink it, then it’s her!” I stamped, facing Brielle.
She kept staring at me with her emotionless face, as I ordered her right there to drink the wine.
“If you didn’t poison it, then drink it. My Argon will not take your poison.”
“Estelle!”
“It’s fine,” Brielle said, stepping forward.
“I’ll drink it, ” She agreed, grabbing the wine from my hand in a swift.
“Besides, I am the one who takes the blame for things that I didn’t do. Isn’t that right? ” She scoffed, looking at Argon.
I noticed how Argon stared at her in disapproval, telling her not to prove anything.
“There’s no need to drink it, Brielle. Just give it to me.”
What’s wrong with him?
Why is he trying so hard to stop her?
I didn’t like what I was seeing. Argon’s behavior was troubling my heart.
Brielle stepped away from mine and Argon’s point, and with a swift gulp, she drank Argon’s wine.
My heart skipped when she did this in a flash. I couldn’t tell my reaction after she drank it, because Brielle was just looking at Argon and I… calmly.
“Why is nothing happening?” I feared, wondering if I had made a mistake by thinking the drink was poisoned.
But I know what I saw!
She poured something into Argon’s drink!
“Is that enough to satisfy your curiosity or do you want me to drink the second glass to show you that it’s not poisoned?” Brielle asked, gulping down the second glass like the first.
And just like the first glass, nothing happened.
“I… I don’t get it. I saw what she poured in it. She was putting poison in the drink,” I said, unable to understand what was going on.
My eyes fell on Argon, who gazed at me with anger. He tightened his hands into fists, shutting his eyes tight.
He was holding back his vexation, puffing out air to calm his mood.
“Can you see, Estelle? The drink wasn’t poisoned! It wasn’t!” He raised his voice at me, surprising me with his mood.
I gasped at Argon’s behavior, questioning my own thoughts. “She was turning something, right? It was a green substance. I can’t be seeing this.”
SMASH!!
My whole body shivered at the sound of glass from Brielle’s point. She had smashed both glass to the ground, staring at Argon and I in rage.
“Are you happy? Did the empty glasses answer your question?” She questioned me with disrespect.
I was mad at her audacity.
Has she forgotten who she’s talking to?
“Always looking for something to pin on me. When will you stop, Estelle? Sometimes I wonder if you’re even in your right senses. Maybe you need to see a doctor to check your brain, because you’re losing it.”
“Excuse me?!” I gasped at the way Brielle was insulting me right in front of Argon.
And he didn’t do anything!
“How dare you insult me?! You are the mad one here! Look at the poor man’s party you organized for my Argon, and you say I’m the one who needs a doctor? You’re a lunatic!”
With a loud burst, Brielle laughed at me, making me feel like a complete fool before her.
I was so furious.
I looked at Argon, but he didn’t say anything. He just had his eyes shut, still tightening his fists.
“Look who’s calling me a lunatic! Weren’t you the same person who claimed you saw a green eye wolf running pass me? Like a green eye wolf? How stupid! ” She mocked, using that day’s incident to abuse me.
My mouth dropped, unable to fire another word at her. But even if I wanted to, what do I want to say?
“I have told you already, Estelle. Get your head checked before your wedding day. We don’t want a mad woman on that day.”
“Brat! How dare you?!” I groaned, set to storm and attack her. But my arm was suddenly grabbed by Argon, who held me tight, stopping me from nearing Brielle.
When I looked at his face, my whole body came shivering at his terrifying gaze.
Argon was mad at me.
“That’s enough, Estelle. Apologize to Brielle, now,” He ordered.
I was stunned by his words.
Me? Apologize to her?
Never!
I was going to refuse him when Brielle said to him, “No need to fake care, Argon. You two are in this together.”
What she said got Argon looking at her in surprise. I was astonished to see how my Argon was acting like a complete fool before Brielle.
“No wonder you suggested I organize this party for you. You only wanted to accuse me of something I didn’t do, like you always do. Have a nice birthday, I’m out of here.”
“Brielle, wait!” Argon called, tossing me behind like a nobody.
He wanted to go after Brielle, but she left immediately, stopping him on his track.
This was still surprising to me.
What is happening to my Argon?
All of a sudden, Argon turned around, showing off his red wolf eyes. My heart skipped, sending my feet back.
With speed, he came before me, grabbing my hand and pulling me from the terrace.
“Argon, my hand. You’re hurting me!” I cried, struggling with him.
But Argon ignored my cry. He dragged me to his room and threw me inside roughly.
“AHH!” I shrieked when he did that, almost sending me kissing the wall. But I immediately got myself, turning around to be grabbed again by him.
“Why?! Why?!! WHY?!!!” He roared, shaking me hard.
I tried to stop him, but found myself on the ground.
“Why are you always ruining my life, Estelle?! What’s your problem?! What do you want from me?!” He questioned, holding his head while pacing his room.
I was getting scared just watching how he shouted at me, questioning my intentions for him.
“I can’t tell if you really love me like you said. I feel you’re after my downfall! ”
“Don’t say that, Argon! I am not after your down fall. I love you.”
“Love? Are you sure you love me? Or is it hate?!” He asked, facing me with his red glowing eyes.
My body quivered before him.
“Why are you mean to me, Argon? Just because I tried to save you from Brielle’s attack, you’re speaking ill of me?!”
“WHAT ATTACK?!” He roared, causing me to gasp out in fear, crawling back from his point.
“The so-called poisoned drink you made her gulp before you? Was that the attack?!”
I tried to explain myself, but Argon wasn’t ready to listen.
“There was no such thing as an attack from Brielle. If she herself had told me that you poisoned that drink, I would have believed.”
“What?!” I was shocked by his words, getting to my feet.
“You’d believe if someone lied on me?” I questioned, widening my eyes at Argon.
And to my horror, he said yes!
“It won’t be a lie, Estelle. And I can bet it with you that you poisoned that wine and thought you could kill two birds with one stone.”
“Argon!” I sparked, throwing my hand at him for a slap, but he grabbed it and pinned me against the wall, tightly.
I groaned in pain, as Argon accused me of poisoning the wine to kill either Brielle or him!
“You just want to get Brielle in trouble and satisfy your own desire. I know you well,” He said, squeezing harder.
I whined in his hold, asking, “Why would you think of such a thing? I can never hurt the man I love.”
“Really?” He asked in mockery, letting go off me.
I held my hands close, drawing nearer to the bed for safety, and watching him step back.
He gave out a scoff and said, “Okay, how about this for that question. ”
All of a sudden, Argon pulled out a spoilt, moulded object from behind the wardrobe, dropping it before me.
When I looked at this object, about to ask what it was, the label and the object came to view!
“What?! It can’t be!” I was shocked.
“Do you recognize the chemical you bought and used to melt my suit? The same one you tried to use and render me naked before the world?! The same chemical you blamed Brielle for?!” He raised his voice, pointing at it.
I was still horrified.
This can’t be possible. I remember tossing the container into the trash bin with the remaining substance, so no one would see or know it was me.
How did Argon find it?
“You thought you could hide your evidence, but it fished you out, ” He said, opening the wardrobe to show it empty of my clothes that I had left.
“You hid the chemical and thought I wouldn’t find it. But due to your carelessness, it came leaking out, ruining all your clothes, and exposing your lies.”
He slammed the wardrobe door hard, growling at me.
“How could you do this to me, Estelle? Because of your jealousy, you decided to naked me before many people. This is how you tripped Brielle that day, causing that drink to pour on your father. You are still the same person who exposed our relationship to the world, landing me in my mess! ” He roared.
“My reputation! You’ve ruined it with your actions! You, Estelle, you!!”
I was shaking, not knowing how to settle this problem.
“Argon, that… That isn’t mine. I think it’s Brielle.”
“It has your name on it! Look at it! ” He pointed at the attached receipt, which had my name boldly written at the top.
“I think she forged my name.”
“Get out, ” Argon ordered, pointing at the door.
I didn’t want to leave my sweetheart alone, not with this thought in his mind. I can’t allow him to stay mad over something I did.
I worked so hard to hide that evidence but it still got out.
“Baby, believe me.”
“GET OUT!!” He shouted.
Scared, I ran out of Argon’s room, crying when I heard the door slam feom behind. My heart was aching over this. My lies have been fished out.
But how?
I threw that container away. How did it end up in the room?
Was someone watching me that day?
Who?
Hurt, I left the mansion in shame without looking back. My Argon is so mad at me.
“Oh goddess! Don’t let my baby hate me for this. It was for the sake of our love.”
