ARGON
I didn’t expect Brielle to take this celebration seriously, but she marveled me.
I woke up to see my servants following her around to make arrangements for my day. All I did was watch from above the stairs, as she gave orders, sending each servants to handle different tasks.
“Get fresh apples and you get the flour set. Tania, you’ll assist me in the kitchen,” She ordered, heading for the kitchen while the servants went to carry out their work.
All what she was doing, left me feeling strange at Brielle’s new side. I just couldn’t look away from her point.
“It seems you got to speak to her, ” Jerome said, standing next to me.
I had sensed his presence close but didn’t bother turning to look until he was standing beside me.
“How did you do it? Was it a long conversation or a short one? ” He asked, curiously.
I just swayed my head at Jerome, answering his question, “We didn’t have a proper conversation.”
“Really? Then… How did you get her to organize all these? I thought you warned her never to try it? ” Jerome asked, finding this amusing.
I sighed and told him what had happened last night.
“She came over and dropped me a gift. That’s how I got Brielle to throw this small preparation for me. Let’s just say the goddess threw an opportunity at my door step, ” I said, recalling the redness all over Brielle’s face when she saw me holding her gift.
Looking at my Beta, I saw his face bloom with delight, as he said, patting my shoulder, ” This is indeed an opportunity from the goddess, Alpha. For Brielle to come over by herself, means she still has a little spot for you but she’s trying her best to hide it. Alpha…”
He drew nearer, looking around to make sure no one was listening. Then with a whisper, he said, “Try and get Brielle to fall in love with you again. That’s the only way you can have her under your control, just like before. She’ll have no choice but to spare you and give you your position back.”
“Jerome, that’s a good idea. But do you think I can get her to love me after what happened?” I asked, finding this hard.
” I’m sure you can. If you were able to make her fall for you the first time, then you can do it again. I trust you,” He supported, patting me once again.
I smiled at my Beta, taking this as part of my task. Get Brielle to fall for me all over and save me from damnation.
But… I don’t even know what I did to make her fall for me the first time. I don’t recall flirting or teasing with Brielle. She just fell for me like that.
How am I going to do this?
Jerome decided to head to the office and take over work while I stay back and enjoy my day.
“I’ll be back to join in the celebration,” He promised, leaving my sight.
I remained in my spot, thinking of how to execute this plan.
“If I want her to save me, I have to make her fall for me all over. I hope I can do this, ” I sighed, rubbing my forehead.
.
At around eight in the evening, everything was set.
Jerome had wanted to help me in getting ready by suggesting I wear a nice suit for the party.
But I didn’t feel like changing my casual wear, until he insisted that I dress to please Brielle.
“You are doing this to get her attention. Don’t forget that, Alpha,” He reminded me, and I did as he advised.
I got dressed in one of my suit, wearing one of the ties Brielle gifted me. I’m sure when she sees it, she’ll be pleased even more.
Done, Jerome and I stepped out of the room, making our way down the stairs, only to see Estelle cat walking into the mansion with a serious face.
I almost forgot that I invited her over for the celebration. It had skipped my mind.
“Estelle, you made it, ” I called, getting to the bottom of the staircase.
She gave a smile, approaching me with her arms opened wide.
“Happy birthday, my love,” She wished hugging me with a kiss to the lip.
When she embraced me, I could pick an uncomfortable scent from Estelle. She was bittered over this decision.
After all, it’s not what she wanted. She wants a steamy moment at a hotel with me, but I have no mood for that when my position is at the edge.
I couldn’t miss this opportunity with Brielle.
I carefully lifted her off my hold and stared at her face. It was clear that she was forcing a smile, trying not to look into my eyes for long.
“Are you okay? ” I asked.
And Estelle just hummed shrugging and hovering her eyes around, like it’s the first time she’s visiting my home.
“Yeah, I’m okay. It’s just sad that you have to celebrate your special day in your home, instead of a hotel decorated with flowers, candles… Gosh!” She rolled her eyes, revealing her detest to this plan.
And when I saw this, I felt I had made a mistake by inviting Estelle over.
“I hope she doesn’t mess things up for me,” I prayed within.
Together, we made our way to the living room, where we found it decorated nicely with few flowers, and the table filled with nice tasty dishes made by Brielle just for me.
I was moved when all the helpers, dressed in their best wears and surrounding the table, smiled at me, wishing me well.
“Happy birthday, Alpha,” My servants wished, bowing before me.
Though it wasn’t how I wanted my special day to be, it was better than being around a mass of angry people.
I smiled and thanked them all, tracing my gaze to Brielle, who stood behind the servants, staring at me with a smile.
She just hid herself like a stranger who wasn’t a part of the celebration.
With a curve across my lips, I returned her smile, nodding my head at her. But on looking at my right side, Estelle was gazing at me.
She saw me smiling at Brielle, that’s for sure. But I can’t allow her jealousy to ruin things for me.
Ignoring her stares, I faced my helpers and thanked them properly for all their efforts.
“You all have made this day wonderful for me. Honestly, I forgot about my own day, but someone reminded me. And it’s that same person that made all these possible. Thank you, Brielle,” I appreciated her.
The servants gave way, so Brielle would be seen fully. They clapped their hands to appreciate her.
I thought she’d hide again, but she stood boldly with her arms crossed, smirking at me.
“Thank you very much. I really appreciate your effort, even though I’ve been a jackass in the past and…”
“Why thanking me? I only did what you wanted,” She pointed out.
“It’s your day after all, so just enjoy it. Happy birthday again,” Brielle wished me.
I smiled, nodding at her, before directing my eyes back at Estelle once again.
She was fuming over what Brielle had said, and I was sure she wasn’t going to let me be, until she gets an answer to what Brielle meant by that.
The party started with Brielle inviting me over to cut the cake she baked.
“You and your wife to be can stand here and cut it together,” She suggested, setting the table for us.
But when Estelle took hold of my hand, set to push the knife down…
“Don’t stand there. Join us, ” I said to Brielle, inviting her over.
When that was uttered, Estelle’s hand shook at my decision, while Brielle was surprised when I called her over.
That only brightened my heart. Brielle didn’t expect it.
“Yes, I’m beginning to understand what she wants from me.” I felt pleased, gesturing her over.
Before I could step aside to bring Brielle close, mine and Estelle’s hand came slicing the cake with speed.
I was stunned.
“Oops! It’s already done, ” Estelle grinned, clapping her hands for me and getting all the servants to do the same.
Estelle! She purposely did that to prevent Brielle from joining us.
“Oh, good! Now everyone can have a cake, ” Brielle said, acting like she didn’t care about what just happened.
But I saw her face expression. She wanted to join me.
“Estelle!!” I dropped my eyes on her, and she did the same, glaring at me.
“We need to talk,” She whispered, resuming with her fake smiles.
.
Throughout the party, I have been avoiding Estelle’s questions. She wants to know what is going on with Brielle and I, but I’m not going to tell her anything.
She will only ruin it for me.
Luckily, I had snuck away from the party and straight for the terrace of the mansion, to be alone.
“Goddess, you should have clipped my lips and stopped me from inviting Estelle. I should have seen this coming,” I groaned, rubbing my forehead.
Just then…
“Is this how other birthdays make you feel?” I heard a familiar voice from behind.
When I turned around to look, I saw Brielle holding two glasses of wine, walking up to me.
My heart skipped on seeing her. Didn’t expect her to come and find me here.
“I saw you coming this way and thought I should join you,” She said, standing before me.
She handed me a glass which I took from her, saying my thanks. All she did was smile and stand right next to me.
This was beginning to feel awkward yet great. I couldn’t get close to Brielle because of Estelle. She has been trying to get me to talk to her, blocking my chance of having any conversation with Brielle.
But now, the goddess have brought Brielle my way.
This is just perfect!
“I noticed you weren’t feeling the party vibe. I can understand it’s not up to your taste. I’m not that fancy like other people out there, ” She said, starting the conversation.
“The party was great. I… I wasn’t feeling off about it, honestly. It’s just that… I was absentminded,” I responded, showing her that I cared about her effort.
“Oh, okay.” She shrugged at me.
We came silent, saying nothing for some minutes.
I just held my wine, stealing glances at Brielle, who now had her eyes staring out to the dark cloud, holding her glass.
“Come on, Argon. Think of something,” I pondered within, looking for a nice topic to keep this moment going.
That’s when I had an idea, starting the conversation. ” I wore one of the ties you got for me. It’s nice and matches the suit.”
“Hmm. It’s nice, ” She commented, going mute.
Seems she’s not amused by the tie. I need to think of something again.
” Um… So, you like… green colours?”
“Huh? ” Brielle uttered, looking at me.
“I noticed your green dress and the green cake you made. I assume that’s your favorite color, right?” I asked, smirking at her.
As she stared, she said with her brow lifted, ” I’ve been wearing different colors Argon. Just because I wore green and made your cake green, doesn’t mean I like the color.”
The way she responded, got my heart pounding fast, hoping I didn’t get on her nerves.
But surprisingly, she came out laughing, calming my racing heart.
“Yeah, I kind of like the color green. It looks pretty. But your cake was made with apple, so…. I made it green, ” She answered, facing the sky again.
“The color has… Life. It makes me feel renewed whenever I stare at it, ” She said, getting lost in her words.
And I was also getting lost in her presence.
That vibration I always get whenever I touch her, I could feel it. This time around, I wasn’t holding her. Her voice was releasing this energy which was beginning to pull me nearer to her.
“This feeling again. Why do I sense it around you? I’m always tempted to get close and find out why this aura from you keeps calling out to me.”
I stared, getting lost by just staring at her. It felt… Beautiful.
But Brielle broke this moment with a chuckle, suggesting that we drink our wine and head back inside the mansion.
“How about a cheers? That’s if you don’t mind, ” She requested, lifting her glass with a smile.
Seeing her grin, I gave a curve back and agreed to her wish.
We both cling our glasses and were about drinking when suddenly…
“STOP!!” Estelle roared out, racing towards me.
I felt my whole body shiver at her roar, asking, “What are you doing here?”
“Saving your ass, that’s what I’m doing!” She said, grabbing the wine out of my hold.
I was annoyed by her action and demanded to know why she’d do that. Only for Estelle to say, ” This brat has poisoned your wine! She poisoned it!”
“What?!” I was shocked, looking at Brielle, who lifted her brow at Estelle’s accusation.
“You wretch! You think I didn’t see when you poured that substance into Argon’s drink? You want to poison him!”
Is this true?
This can’t be.
