BRIELLE
“What’s wrong with her?” Tania asked, standing next to me, right behind a pillar.
I watched Estelle racing out of the mansion with speed. Her face filled with tears, trying to hide it away from the servants.
But even if she tries to hide it, I’ve already seen and heard the argument between her and Argon.
“She called us mad? No problem, we’ll see who the crazy one is very soon, ” Bane chuckled in her deep voice, bringing satisfaction to my heart.
She said she saw me placing poison in Argon’s drink. But how can she prove it when I drank both drinks before her and Argon?
But still… She wasn’t wrong.
Indeed I poisoned Argon’s drink to achieve my goal. Like Argon said, killing two birds with one stone. That was my actual goal.
I had seen how Estelle was moving about like a maniac, trying to sniff Argon out from his hiding place.
I could already sense his presence at the terrace, so I decided to cook up a nice scheme. One that should favor me greatly.
With the poison made with my own two hands and Bane’s craftiness, I poured the content into Argon’s wine while Estelle was watching from behind.
I could see her reflection from the iron tray before me. She was too blind to notice anything.
Quickly, I moved out to meet Argon, using talks and silence to kill the time, just for her to find us at the right moment.
And when I sensed her near, I proposed a toast, so she’d hear my voice from the terrace.
The plan was simple though. Let’s say one was a quicker route to meet my goal and the other a longer one.
If Argon, who has been trying his best to get my attention, had taken that wine instead of me, he would have fallen down paralyzed, confirming Estelle’s words.
But when he’s asked who poisoned him, he will surely point Estelle and not me. After all, she’s the one who mixed his suit in that chemical.
She is a complete fool for thinking she can escape me after pulling that stunt that day.
In anger, after I was locked in the basement, Bane got me out of there without anyone noticing, and we found Estelle that evening after the party, tossing the chemical away and returning into the mansion like nothing had happened.
Of course I wasn’t going to leave her. I took that bottle and kept it in a safe place, until I found the right opportunity to return it back into Argon’s room.
It was the day the councils came over to vent their rage on Argon. I gave the bottle a leak, so Argon would find it in his wardrobe.
With that as an evidence to prove my innocence and his lover’s hurtful actions, Argon would have blamed Estelle for his poisoning, believing she did it to get rid of me.
But since it didn’t work, I decided to drink the poison.
And as an Ivy… No damn poison can harm me.
I drank the poison, proving Estelle wrong, and I succeeded in making Argon see with his own eyes, the harsh treatment I’m getting by taking in blames that isn’t caused by me.
He was so mad at Estelle!
And to spice it up, I accused him of joining hands with his lover, just to make his task difficult.
Argon raged out at Estelle and also revealed his mistrust in her. That is just the beginning of the crack in their relationship.
Soon, it will expand to the point of no return.
They should just watch like fools and see.
“Oh, he’s coming,” Tania whispered, notifying me of Argon’s presence.
I didn’t even bother to look but kept my gaze at the exit where Estelle had passed through.
The moment I felt Argon near me, I turned over to face him with a serious gaze.
His eyes read guilt, as he was unable to maintain an eye contact with me. His head kept falling low multiple times, stammering out words that refused to come out of that hole he calls a mouth.
“Look at his face. So irritating! I can’t believe you were in love with this bag of bones. Just look at him!” Bane said with detest for Argon.
When Argon found his voice, he said to me, ” Brielle, I am sorry for what happened. Trust me, I didn’t plan anything with Estelle.”
“Really?” I asked, lifting my brow at him with my arms crossing against my chest. “You didn’t plan anything with the love of your life? Are you now denying her?”
His mouth just came down but no words could come out.
I immediately ceased that opportunity to speak my mind, making Argon the culprit here.
“Don’t act so innocent, Argon. You think I don’t know you already? I was your wife before you signed those papers. I know the kind of tricks you pull just to hurt me,” I said strongly, standing my ground.
My voice was beginning to attract the other helpers, who came staring, wondering what was happening between us.
Even Jerome came closer to find out what the matter was. But he didn’t speak much, because I kept on reminding Argon of all his past deeds, so he’d know how much it has affected me deeply.
“I didn’t want to throw this party but you said you wanted a change. I should have trusted my instinct when you made that suggestion. I should have seen the scheme all along.”
“Brielle, believe me. I didn’t plan anything with Estelle. She’s just being immature,” He said, insisting that I believe his words.
But I scoffed out in mockery, saying, ” Never use that word ‘Believe’, because I will never make that mistake and fall into your traps again. Good night.”
With pride, I turned around and walked out on both Argon and Jerome, ignoring Argon’s voice.
“Brielle, just listen to me!”
“What exactly happened?” I heard Jerome making his inquiry from his master.
They can play their silly little games as much as they want. But this big bad wolf is the master here.
I will be the one to decide when this game is over.
