As she spoke, Scarlett was so anxious she almost cried.
Harvey also chimed in nervously from the side, “That’s right, Kayden. I always thought you were just a bit slow, but I never imagined you’d cause such big trouble for Georgia! Georgia had finally managed to cooperate with the Atkinson Group, bringing a glimmer of hope to the Adams Group. Now, I’m afraid Mr. Robinson will terminate our partnership. If he does that, our family is completely finished! The entire business world will blacklist us. I don’t understand why you couldn’t just let it go, why did you have to clash with Beckett’s son like this? Why!”
This was one of the rare times Harvey reproached Kayden, his eyes full of despair as he looked at Kayden.
“Divorce him!” Scarlett suddenly exclaimed, “Georgia, you should get a divorce! It’s the only way we can salvage the situation now. We should completely cut ties with Kayden. Divorce him and say he has nothing to do with our family anymore…”
Georgia’s brow furrowed. Her gaze quickly turned to Kayden’s face, but he still wore that nonchalant expression. She decided not to quibble with Kayden; hadn’t he been like this lately? But he had one good point – no matter what he did, he never let her suffer and always stood in front to protect her.
It was just about the family’s interests, right? Georgia had never expected to get that contract from Mr. Robinson anyway. So she swallowed hard and firmly shook her head, refuting, “No! We did this together. If there’s responsibility to bear, we’ll both bear it! Mom, I won’t divorce Kayden.”
As she finished speaking, she gripped Kayden’s hand tightly.
“Enough, Georgia, don’t be so stubborn! This time I’m siding with your mother. You should get a divorce! Don’t worry about letting your grandfather down. For the sake of the Adams family, your grandfather would understand,” Harvey said gravely.
“No!” Georgia stood up from the sofa excitedly. “I won’t divorce Kayden. No matter what he’s done, I could never divorce him! Dad, Mom, it’s not just because of Grandpa’s dying wish! I’ve… I’ve fallen in love with Kayden. I can’t possibly divorce him!”
Hearing this, Scarlett, Harvey, and Kayden all looked at Georgia in astonishment, their eyes filled with shock.
Kayden was stunned, staring intently at Georgia. Georgia looked completely serious, without a hint of joking! She had fallen in love with him? This was the first time Kayden had heard Georgia say it herself.
Scarlett jumped to her feet, her face stern as she asked, “What did you say? You’ve fallen in love with this fool? My dear, did I hear that right?”
Before, Georgia had only been bound to Kayden because of her grandfather’s wishes. She hadn’t treated Kayden badly, but she hadn’t been particularly good to him either. Now she was saying that she loved him, which absolutely shocked Scarlett.
Scarlett knew her daughter best – the most beautiful woman in Hiphia. How could she possibly fall in love with someone like Kayden? He was just a useless fool. How could this be realistic?
Georgia nodded. “After spending time with him recently, I realized I’ve truly fallen for Kayden. Every time I face a problem, he unhesitatingly stands in front of me, shielding me with his body. Even though he sometimes likes to boast and say unrealistic things, I can still feel that he’s sincerely protecting me. I enjoy his protection. I think that’s what liking someone is, what love is! Dad, Mom, I can’t possibly divorce Kayden, not in this lifetime!”
These words sent a warmth flowing through Kayden’s heart. He stared at Georgia, his gaze softening.
“Oh my God!” Scarlett slapped her thigh, stomping her feet anxiously on the ground.
“Georgia, you’re being foolish! How can you casually fall for someone like this? What does he have? He has nothing! With your status, are you really content to marry such a fool? You’re killing me.”
Suddenly, Kayden stood up from the sofa. He grabbed Georgia’s hand and said steadily, enunciating each word, “From now on, the whole world belongs to Georgia! I can give her anything she wants in this world.”
Georgia was taken aback, involuntarily turning her head to look at Kayden. Kayden’s eyes were shining, filled with conviction. Was this Kayden’s promise to her?
Whether it was or not, at this moment, Georgia only felt warmth in her heart, an indescribable sweetness.
Kayden certainly wasn’t joking. A War God’s promise was more precious than gold; how could he possibly deceive Georgia?
“Nonsense!” Scarlett couldn’t help but scold, “What can you give her? Who do you think you are?”
Kayden said calmly, “Don’t worry, Beckett won’t dare do anything to the Adams family. He’s rushing back to apologize to me! It’s not as terrifying as you think. He can’t decide about the Atkinson Group contract.”
Georgia’s brow furrowed again. Kayden was talking nonsense again. She raised her hand to tug at Kayden’s arm, saying softly, “Kayden, what are you saying?”
Kayden didn’t answer. As Scarlett was about to scold him again, Georgia’s phone rang. Georgia glanced at it – it was a call from Old Mrs. Adams.
“It’s Grandma calling!” Georgia said, looking at Scarlett.
Scarlett was nervous. “Did your grandmother know about this? If she did, we’re in big trouble!” Scarlett clapped her hands together, looking flustered.
After a moment’s hesitation, Georgia answered the phone, instinctively putting it on speaker.
Old Mrs. Adams’ voice came through. “Georgia, is Mr. Robinson coming to see you? Did something happen at the company?”
Scarlett quickly shook her head, signaling Georgia to say no.
Georgia said, “No, nothing’s happened!”
“Oh! I saw Mr. Robinson looking very anxious, coming to find you so late at night. I thought something must have happened. Well, if nothing’s wrong, that’s good!” Old Mrs. Adams said reassuringly.
Then she added, “Mr. Robinson should be heading to your house now!”
“What?” Georgia was stunned.
“I gave him your address. He must have something urgent to discuss with you! He’s coming with his son.”
Hearing this, everyone in the room tensed up. Georgia, Harvey, and Scarlett felt their scalps tingling, their faces turning extremely twisted.
As soon as the call ended, Scarlett said anxiously, “What do we do now? Mr. Robinson must be coming to make trouble.”
Suddenly, she thought of something and glared at Kayden. “This is all because of you, you useless thing!”
“Knock! Knock! Knock!” As soon as she finished speaking, there was a knocking at the door.
The knocking sounded like heavy artillery, pounding on Scarlett’s heart!
Undoubtedly, Mr. Robinson had arrived!
