Kayden had never intended to conceal his identity, and at this point, he was even less inclined to do so.
He grabbed Georgia’s hand, looking straight into her eyes. “There are some things I think you need to know and believe. When I was fifteen, I went to a war zone. On the battlefield, I nearly died several times. But for some reason, maybe luck, I didn’t die. Instead, I survived.”
“Not only did I survive, but I also achieved countless miracles on the battlefield. I’ve killed many people. And I’ve earned numerous military honors. Any one of those achievements would be unparalleled in the world. But three years ago, when I faced off against the Commanders of Ten Nations, I accidentally…”
Georgia’s brow furrowed and she felt so speechless! Was Kayden really talking about himself? In this day and age, how could such outlandish things exist? Anyway, wars like that just didn’t happen anymore.
With the internet being so advanced these days, how could she not know if there was a war going on?
If there really was a war, social media would be flooded with news about it! Kayden’s brain must not have fully recovered yet, causing him to have these mental delusions sometimes.
He must have conjured up some special imagery in his memory, like seeing an ancient general on TV who had achieved great military feats. So he imagined himself as that kind of person, but it was just fragments from his damaged brain!
Oh!
Looking at Kayden like this, Georgia really felt sorry for him, and her heart ached!
Though he wasn’t as foolish as before, now he was addicted to bragging! And he bragged to ridiculous extremes.
Besides this, Georgia noticed another trait – when Kayden bragged, it was always because he cared about her. In other words, he cared too much about her, which led him to fabricate these lies.
Thinking about this, Georgia felt somewhat reassured. At least Kayden was doing it for her!
“Alright, Kayden!” Suddenly, Georgia interrupted him.
Kayden frowned, about to speak, but Georgia impatiently raised her hand to stop him. “Don’t say anything else!”
Kayden was at a loss for words. He didn’t know how to make Georgia believe him. Every word he had just said was the truth, but this was how Georgia treated him.
Never mind, let time prove it! With Georgia’s current mindset and understanding, she really couldn’t believe his identity. No matter what, this woman had taken such meticulous care of him for three years; how could he not repay her?
About half a minute later, Kayden looked at the worried Georgia and said, “Whether or not you believe what I just said, don’t worry. With me around, no one in this world will harm you in the slightest.”
Suddenly, Georgia did something unexpected!
As soon as he finished speaking, Georgia suddenly cupped his face with both hands, gazing at Kayden with eyes full of emotion. Their eyes met, and a strange feeling permeated the room. She put a finger to Kayden’s lips and said with a dreamy look, “Don’t say anything else! I know what you mean. Actually you don’t need to say so much to prove yourself. I know you’re good to me. I don’t care what you do; I just hope you can remain sincere! Be yourself! Actually, that version of you is the most perfect, the best.”
She leaned towards Kayden. Their gazes drew closer, their bodies moving nearer!
Kayden clearly felt his heart racing, for the first time in ten years. The coldness of those ten years had made him forget how to deal with such things, but now, he seemed to feel something different again.
He swallowed hard and slowly moved closer to Georgia.
They were about to kiss! Their love for each other was intensely expressed in this room.
But just as their lips were about to meet…
No matter how Kayden had said those words, Georgia’s heart had already warmed.
Just as romance was blossoming in the room, suddenly, the door was violently pushed open.
“Kayden, you useless fool, you’re killing me with your stupid mind! You’re killing me!” A voice on the verge of explosion came as soon as the door opened.
Their movements froze, and they both turned their heads towards the door.
There stood Scarlett in a long dress, furious, with Harvey behind her carrying a briefcase.
“You… you… what are you doing?” Scarlett asked loudly, seeing their intimate position.
Georgia quickly came to her senses, hurriedly let go of Kayden, then tidied her messy hair somewhat self-consciously and stammered, “No… nothing!”
“Mom, what’s wrong?” Georgia skillfully changed the subject.
Scarlett took the bait and pointed at Kayden. “What’s wrong? Ask Kayden what’s wrong! If I hadn’t gone shopping today and heard from Rosa, I wouldn’t have known about the mess he’s made!”
Scarlett angrily sat down on the sofa, crossed her arms, her face turning green with rage. Harvey put down the briefcase, closed the door, and quickly walked over to sit beside them.
He had a gloomy expression, also showing anger. This was rare for Harvey, known for his good temper.
“Mom, what do you mean?” Georgia asked, still confused.
Scarlett said, “What do I mean? Are you still playing dumb? You two are so bold, daring to make a bet with Beckett’s son! Don’t you know who Beckett is? He could kill you both with just a single word! Wiping out our family would be a matter of minutes for him!”
Georgia’s heart skipped a beat as she blinked at Scarlett.
She swallowed hard and said, “Mom, I didn’t force him to kneel! He just lost the bet to Kayden.”
“Lost?” Scarlett fumed, “Do you think he really lost? Do you think Kayden really won? You’re simply courting death! I’ve already heard that after learning about this, Beckett rushed back without delay. He’s coming to deal with you two! Kayden, why do you always cause trouble for Georgia? You’ve ruined the little success she’s built up all with one stunt!”
